Wade!! Thank you so much for testing my candles and for all of your helpful feedback and valuable advice!! I was so pumped to see this up! Your guesses were spot on! Very impressive!! I forgot to write down where the fragrance oils are from, they are actually all from candle science. Everything else is from makesy and my labels are standard white matte from online labels. I completely agree on down-sizing the wick after my first batch I came across two things which were the craters under the wax and smoking (the rim of the candle would turn black and have this thick smoke). But these issues weren't consistent. I would get a random candle here and there that would have these problems and the majority of them would burn nicely without any issues. I also felt like they burned very fast so I hope that with the down size in wick they will last a bit longer. Thanks again! Appreciate it.
I really like the way you do your reviews for other candle makers, you are very fair while giving the necessary constructive criticism. Definitely authentic and I think the candle makers really appreciate that too!
These are absolutely gorgeous, the pink 1 was WoW!! 💝 please don't get discouraged there to beautiful, like Wade said maybe change wick size, test and test again, I'm buying myself the pink 1 for Christmas💓💞
My favorite scents vary from season to season. I like lighter fruity and lighter floral through summer and spring. Food/bakery, outdoor firery, fallen leaves, fall scents in fall, and woodsy , tree scents in the winter.
Another informative and helpful review. Those vessels looked lovely. For scents, I tend to prefer mellow ones myself. Not too pungent or strong but also not too citrusy or acid. The best way I can describe my favorites is just being wrapped up in a freshly dried blanket. A creamy coffee, wet wood/forest, sawdust with leather or amber, for a few examples.
@@BlackTieBarn Off subject; I am truly sorry to hear about your sisters diagnosis and wanted to contribute. However, it seems that your website is down 😢 Any clues as to when you'll have it up & running?
Hello Wade Thomas Great tutorial. I like more floral, fruity, and beachy scents myself. The tins are beautiful and nicely packaged. I haven't experimented with wooden wicks yet due to the fact they seem a little intimidating. Can't wait for the next review!!! Are you ready to take on new candles for review yet? I am patiently waiting to send you my products. Thank you for this teaching platform.
Thanks Wade, you always come through. I like woodsy scents, some floral but I'm allergic to most of them, so I don't make them, unless I have a request.
My scent preference change throughout the year, I love a lemon in spring and summer, apple pie or apple sage for fall and pines like frasier fir for winter. I do like sea salt and orchid, one of my favorites. Its funny because I like make ones with bakery scents but do not like burning them.
Another enjoyable video…I am using the Glam Tins also from Makesy…I am not using Wooden Wicks but I spent a very long time finding the right wicks…☺️☺️
@@BlackTieBarn ❤️ idk why it randomly put "send" in that comment lol I promise I wasn't asking to be sent anything 😅 I think it's cool that our favorites are similar, hopefully I will be decent at making those scents in candles. I'm definitely going to check yours out asap.
You're definitely on a roll 😊 you've been nailing it %98.9 ✅ It's when those wheels start turning and thinking of other possibilities and it throws you off. Oooh, those are really nice containers! But are they "cost effective" when starting a business 🤔
How do you make those types of labels? I love your labels too & I don’t know what they are called or what to order! Also this video was super informative for the sink hole and relighting issue, thanks for sharing!
If you are looking for the technical term it may be "Foil Stamping." There are sticker companies that will print the image and add a foil over a designated area/color and then cover the whole thing with a laminate. You can do these at home as well. Essentially you print the label on a home laser toner (black toner offers the best adhesion,) overlay a sheet of special foil, and run it through a special machine or a laminator. The foil is heated up and will bind to the toner. If you want the original toner color to show through there is holographic foil.
I'm not opposed to do it. Most new candle makers start with container candles so those tend to be what most focus on and send in. It's up to the makers. :)
I never miss your videos. There are so many good fragrances, such as cotton/linen, cozy cabin. My favorite is oak moss & amber. I'm looking for something that smells like a sunscreen fragrance. I've tried Hawaiian tropic, sunny beaches but they're not quite right....any ideas?
Oakmoss and amber has always been a favorite of mine. However since csndle science reformulated theirs last yearv it is much weaker. If be curious which one you like as well
Another Great Video, Thank you. I'm new to candle making and like many others struggling to get a candle that I'm happy with. I came across Candleshack in the UK who publish some recipes. Have you thought about anything like this? maybe a beginner "bulletproof" small set of recipes to get people started? I'd be happy to pay for a small set of beginner recipes to try and eliminate some of the trial and error. Thanks again. Dave
My favorites scents really change with my mood but mostly fruity and woodsy smells. I would like to know where to sent you candles to get your thoughts. Thanks as always enjoy all your videos
It's never a guarantee as if depends heavily on on the fragrance oil itself as well. And the amount of crackle will vary as well. Some very strong, others very faint. Wood wicks have the ability to crackle, often do... but not always
I'm not gonna say it's name because no one knows about it. But there is a "custom" wax at Virginia candle supply with palm wax that sounds very similar to 6006. Also cocoapricot at half the price that might be a good review.
@@BlackTieBarn gotta spread the savings in these times right now. Also if you have an opinion by the sound of the 130 I would appreciate. You would know more about wax blends then I do.
Hi Wade I'm enjoying these videos of you testing other people's candles. I have a question... do you only test candles that are sent in from the US or do you accept from the UK too?? I'm asking because I'm not sure if you know of the candle supplies from the UK suppliers and also one day when I start my business, I'd appreciate your opinion on my candles too. 🙂
Sad to see they pulled this line from their etsy page. Wonder how much they cost before that. Trying to learn the lower end of pricing luxury candles. I was thinking 20 for shows. 8 average cost multiplied by 2.5.
@@BlackTieBarn glad to hear I'm not crazy. Binged your videos on a sleepless humid night. Even wholesale prices I'm happy with. Still a profit that a majority can afford at better quality then large businesses.
Hi Wade! What is your take on advertising your wax used? More specifically should you only say a wax is “soy based” if it contains more than 50% soy. Could you say IGI 6006 is a “soy blend” even though it is 30% soy? I feel like consumers like the trend of soy, coconut, etc. but if the content is less than 50% should I avoid advertising as a “soy blend” or “coconut blend”? I want to be truthful with customers but also want to promote the environmental benefits of the product.
Hey Ryan. Good question. You can certainly say soy blend for 6006 wax. It's the most common use. Most candle businesses, small and large, do that as well. Most "soy" candles in the stores are not soy candles. Just have some soy in it

Can candle maker put candle in oven for one min to fill in sink holes? I read this somewhere but unsure how safe that is.

How do you get the labels to do that with the gold?
It's a certain type of paper called gold or chrome bopp usually
