We don’t use the same wax or vessels but I love that you’re so transparent to other candle makers. Too many people are secretive as if it’s going to change someone’s brand 🖤
I’ve had SOO many people ask me if I’m worried about giving out so much information. I always respond with nope! It doesn’t matter how much information I give out, NO ONE will be able to take my brand away from me ❤️
Completely agree! I built my business and teaching channel all based on transparency! Just like Erica, I get asked all the time why I would give away information. And why i give so many details. Well, It's a big world... Plenty of business to go around. Plus... I just like helping others. And so does Erica. 😁
Without this formula I don't know how I would have gotten this far. I have never used any other method. Thank you because I don't know how I would survive any other way. Thanks Erica!
What percentage do you suggest of fragrance if your wax only takes up to 6%? It says it could take a higher fragrance load with a blend? I use nature C3.
I would do 6%, and if you want to add more I would do so very carefully and only by a little bit and do lots of testing. Using too much FO than your wax can hold can cause a lot of issues. Or you could play around with blends as it suggests!
When I first watched your "candle math" video I literally thought I was going to CRY! Then I calmed down and watched it again and I was like, "Ooohhhhh....I get it!" Now it's pretty easy! Thanks!
I just wanted to say thank you, SO MUCH, from the bottom of my heart for your tutorials, you are a crazy smart human, and I've learned so much from you in the last few months. Your formulas are gold and save us newbs so much time and effort trying to figure things out, or otherwise giving up because they feel too daunting. Thank you, so so much.
I’ve always used a different formula and have had issues, definitely changing to this one. (I have been doing this to get 10% FOL 170x0.1=17g FO 170-17=153g wax) thank you so much for your guidance to the whole candle maker community and sharing your own business formulas, it really helps all of us ♥️♥️
Hello, beginner here Thank you so much for the information. I have been watching your videos all week and getting my materials ready to start my journey. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Hi Erika, very nice burning candle! No drastic flame, no flickering, just beautiful! I always use wooden wicks in my tins. I think you were smart to go with two small wicks verses one large wick. It really keeps your sides nice and burnt down correctly. I bet you get a very nice hot throw from these little beauties! Jill
Érica you are so sweet and sincere. Thanks so much for showing us how to make candles and be so precise. I work full time and i barely have time to experiment. You help out a lot. It’s so hard to try to balance both. I’m hoping that I can successful as you. I’m trying 😔
I recently started making candles and decided to try a wax blend with soy and tw30 😊 I am using a different soy than you, but this video helped me know I am on the right track 💛 Thanks so much!!
I love your black matte tins ! I have similar , but with a gold rim . They are pricey but the quality is worth it . I love how you are so open and honest and have tried and true methods .... I'm terrible at math and actually determine how many ounces my candles are by having a boiling pot that has the inside listed ( 200 ml 300 600 etc so I know when I make my 9.5 oz candles the melted soy will say *roughly* 300ml in my boiling pot . Also I've seen some candle makers marketing their candles by BURN TIME not by ounces which I think is brilliant.
This is helping so many people! I did have a question though, since TW-30 has a fragrance load of up to 18%, how would you figure out the max fragrance load for your blend? Thank you so much!
Is possible to use one wick in this container with out using 2 wicks ? I tried 1 wick but I don’t get a full melt pool I feel like 2 wicks is too much for this container 😯
Hi Erica! For the wicks you said Eco 1 6" from candle science but they only have Eco 1 3" or Eco 2 6" Did you mean you got the wicks from cal candle supply or are you using Eco 2 6" from candle science? Thank you for your help always!
You are my hero. Thank you SO much for all of your informative videos, as well as all of your expertise. You are STELLAR and I appreciate you ! ( especially the math part hahah)
Thank you for sharing! Love your candles (I’ve bought a couple)! Question: is there a reason why you use two separate scales instead using one for both wax and FO?
I feel that the smaller scale is more accurate (even though the larger scale can measure in 1.0 grams, I just feel like it’s not as quick to show me the weight) ❤️
I love all of your videos. You are one of the few ladies that inspired me to join the candle making business. I wanted to know how long is the cure time. I remember one of the video your cure time isn’t as long as the other ladies due to your blend? I don’t want to wait 2 weeks for it to cure. I love candles.
Hi Erica, I'm about to start my own candle business with my girlfriend and you've been a great help to us in clearing up some doubts. However, there is a doubt to which we are not clearly clarified. What is the importance of measuring the temperature of the wax? Hope you can help us. Thanks and keep the good work.
I have these same tins and use the LX-22 wicks. Get a great melt pool but I can’t stand all the mushrooming. I’m definitely gonna try double wicking now after seeing this. Thanks a bunch, love your channel.
Just ordered Eco 1 to try, we can't get them here in Canada such a pain but I really wanted to try cause my test with 2 eco 2 was to hot. Thanks for your wonderful helpful videos.
Hello, I love your vlog so much good information. Keep up the good work. May I ask what size labels you use I want to try side labels to give a different look? I normally use 2inch glossy white on the top.
Hi Ericka! I wonder that should I let the candle "rest" in a few day before buring or I can burn it right after it cool? Thank you for your amazing video
I'm not really having much luck with my smaller jars or my small tins, I seem to have a nice burn however I'm not getting any hot throw at 8% FO. I'm using Parasoy wax with a SV400 wick (I know this isn't going to mean anything to you Erica lol, I don't think they are sold in the US). Maybe I'll try going up a bit with my FO level, if that doesn't work then maybe I'll try some 464 or C3 and see that helps, all I know is it's very frustrating after I've just cracked my 30CL jars and got them smelling nice, I was hoping I could just transfer the formula and change the wick but despite getting a nice flame, that's all I'm getting.
great video Erica! I’ve learned so much about candle making & the science behind it thru your videos. quick question, at what temp do you pour your fragrance oil? i’ve watched some vids where ppl use “the lower the better” method.. but im trying to figure out which is more effective? i’m using natural soy wax
Thank you so much for making these videos! They help me so much!! I have one question, they sell fragrance oil in ml in my country, so how do I know how much i need to buy because I’m not sure how much gram 1 ml is. :)
I love your videos! I have a question though. You have pretty basic wax shapes so I'm guessing creating a mold for them isn't a huge deal. What if I want to make really weird shapes like bodies etc, that are NOT on the market tho (so I can't buy a mold model from shein for example), how can I create my own mold model? Do I 3d print it? Or...? Thank you in advance.
Hi Ericka! This is a great video, thank you for your thorough explanation. :) Question: the wick that you cut, do you reuse it for other tin jars? Like add the metal holder to the cut wick and use it so you're not just throwing that away? I'm debating getting super long wicks and doing that with the excess I cut off.
Hi Erica, I use the same type of tins and I find that FO which has vanillin will lead to wax discolouration. How do you mitigate this problem? Would appreciate your feedback here.
Genuinely curious, and I'm not trying to be an extremist but being super new to candle making and researching waxes I've found that soy wax products are not GMO-FREE. Is this true? If so, are these candles still safe to burn since we are inhaling the burn off? I'm genuinely asking bc I'm sure I'll have clients who ask me this as well and would like to be prepared. Thank you!
That is what I have a problem with when it comes to making candles. The math/science part of how much wax to fo. They should have a cheat sheet for this.
Hi, question. Do I need to wait for the wax to cool down before pouring the fragrance oil? Because here in the phippines, (based on the tutorial that I watched) They melt the wax at 180 F, Pour the Fragrance oil at 140 F then pour it to the vessel at 100 F. I hope you can reply :) Thank yoi!
I use the CD wicks and double wicking with CD-8 in a 3 inch diameter tin will be WAY too hot for the soy wax I use. Depending on which wax you use (I use Golden 464) then you will need to use CD-4 or smaller for a double wick on a 3 inch container.
Hi Erica! I love your channel and what are doing for beginner candle makers like me. It's been great learning from you..please keep doing what you are doing🥰 Question, do you always blend the tart wax with soy waxes? and if not when should it be done?
Thank you so much for watching :) And this is a very hard question. I know that not all tart waxes are able to be blended with container wax and used in candles. I would refer to the supplier of your tart wax to see if it can be used in candles. Every single thing I’ve ever done has just been from experimenting and trying things out. Yes! However sometimes shipping scales can only go up to 10-11 pounds, whereas shipping scales can go up to 50+ pounds depending on the scale. So it just depends on how much weight your kitchen scale can hold :)
Hi Erica.. I followed the link to the tins and the gram fill weight is about 10 grams lower than what you mentioned and measured in the video. It says that the fill weight is 5.65 oz and 160 grams. Did you use 170 grams? Thanks
Hey Erica! Thanks so much for this video! Quick question, do you do the container and tart wax blend for just your tins or is it also for your larger vessels as well? If so, is it the same percentages as you mentioned in this video 32% + 68% or something a bit different?
We don’t use the same wax or vessels but I love that you’re so transparent to other candle makers. Too many people are secretive as if it’s going to change someone’s brand 🖤

What is the temp you add the fragrance oil and what is your pouring temp?
always add in FO above 185 (usually around 195ish) and we actually don't check pour temp! Just fix FO for about 30 seconds and pour!
Hi Erica, what wicks you recommend for VERY shallow tins - 3 inch diameter, but very shallow?
I would probably recommend two wicks! Depending on the type of wax, use two wicks in the smallest series size you choose
Hi, i want to ask, fill weight / net weight is a liquid wax in a jar?
Hi do you mind telling me what wicks you use for your black jars ??
What other wicks would you recommend as the eco 1 you have listed above seems to be out of stock. Would a double wick CD-8 be too hot?
I use the CD wicks and double wicking with CD-8 in a 3 inch diameter tin will be WAY too hot for the soy wax I use. Depending on which wax you use (I use Golden 464) then you will need to use CD-4 or smaller for a double wick on a 3 inch container.

for making soya wax container candle do i need to add any additive ?
and if you used soy 444 it works the same for me?
