So my son did a research project on the Apache Indian named Geronimo. He was running away from being captured by the US Army and literally jumped off a cliff while screaming his name. He survived the jump into the water and he became a legend! That’s the reason soldiers yell Geronimo as they jump out of planes! We played this song for his project and it has become a family favorite. He got an A and had the whole class cheering! Geronimo-what a cool guy!
Fun Fact: The Spanish were hunting an Apache who they couldn’t catch. Every time they thought they had this man pinned into a corner, he’d slip through the cracks. He became a symbol to other Apaches, even to rival tribes such as the Comanche. At one point though, this chief was pinned down into a corner that he couldn’t escape. Spanish riders had chased him onto the edge of a cliff. Refusing to be captured, this Apache jumped off the cliff and miraculously survived. For jumping off of that cliff, the Spanish famously nicknamed him “Geronimo”. That’s why whenever you jump into a pool, you yell “Geronimo!”

I was sitting beside an active Runway in Anchorage, Alaska, this was playing on the radio at the perfect timing. A plane took off at the perfect time, and started banking to it's left at the perfect time at the very perfect part of the song. I should have taken a video. I don't think I'll have a moment like that again.
