  • In this video we team up with Martin and head north for a quick session on the rough.
    Conditions aren't the most favourable with a blustery northerly wind, but will our perseverance pay? Stay tuned to find out...
    As always thanks for watching and tight lines!

    Some great tips in this one that’ll I’ll have to incorporate for my own fishing. I thought the same when you had the Welsh chap on as well. It’s great to hear different perspectives.
    I see this is the second video in a row where you’ve been photobombed by a nice sea trout, around the 13:23 mark. You’ll have to get the line-thru’s and teasers out at this rate.

    For anyone intrested in crimping over knots. I use prowla crimping pliers, .80 double barrel stainless crimps with 80lb mono. When crimping dont crimp right to the end, you need the ends to flare. Crimping retains 100% of the line strength when done correctly.

    Nice to watch video again as always and very rig informative today, not often you will get to see Martins Dingle Dangle rig being used here in UK. Most wont realise this new so called "Dongle rig" doing the rounds here now, was copied from the afore mentioned South African Dingle dangle rig above.
    The Crimps were an interesting variation though, but think lm happier sticking with my trace body knots and snelled circle hooks lengths on my dingle dangle rigs.
    Always like Newton classic Cod ground summer or winter.

    • @martinking9663
      @martinking9663 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Like you said and this rig is definitely more suited to big big baits where the likes of pullys would never work. If the target species have teeth then it's wire not mono.
      I said the same as you but I done as I was taught, failed at first because I didn't use crimping pliers, but once I did, it hasn't failed yet. I may persuade david to do a video on stress testing to show knots V Crims.

      @@martinking9663 l cheat here as lve seen all this evolve first hand , when l first started going to RSA and Namibia 20 years ago when they hadn't progressed passed a flapping patornoster, multis and mono.

    Done that rig a couple of months ago, but I clipped the weight line straight onto the mainline. Then I evolved the idea into a 2 hook system using a cascade swivel on the bottom snood, so it's a paternoster on the top and uno rig on the bottom. And it's a brilliant rig that works.

      @@martinking9663 it fishes great, I also only use small hooks with fat gauges like sakuma octopus and chinu hooks, then called it the sliding uno pat rig. And with it being a sort of uno rig, on the bottom you can have a 6 foot snood length if you ever need it. Pulley systems is all is use on my big gear and swear by them. And ye, go for it, experiment, that's what I do to 😉
