Jason, I just bought a SK470 XL -15 ft. I'm setting it up for fishing. It's not my first, I've had an SK430 -14ft w a 3.5 hp merc - Tohatsu, for 14 years with no problems. Like you, I've developed my own preferences to design some efficiency and comfort features. I appreciate your ideas. I would like to build a simple cockpit with a flat dashboard in 180 degree access of my equip. When dealing w my 14 ft, I learned to try and organize well in a small tight space. I'm using 1/2 in marine plywood horse shoe frame, w a simple fold down seat and mounting rod holders on each side of me for trolling, and extra rodholders for horizontal storage when en route. You are right about the longer paddles. I made my own 2 sets about 10 yrs ago and they worked better than the oars, especially down river with two people paddling, and just light manuevering. Thanks for your ideas. Jim
After much research and based on the kind of boating I’ll be doing(recreational & fishing off the inter-coastal and keys), I decided to go with the Saturn HD430(14’), actually I got their new Triton(TR430 model) which is an upgraded version of the HD430. I really like it! Once I get an electric pump, I’ll post a video of it.
Nice Videos! I just found out these exist! I am planning buying one and using it as a Dinghy for my 28 foot sailboat. I will probably get a gas motor. I think a 10 HP motor wound be crazy!
Son of Neptune Sailing - Thank you! I just have a trolling motor on mine. I think it holds up to 10hp, but not sure I would go that high. That’s just me though.
I have since given this boat to another angler in 2021. One of the seems did come apart, but only after a cow licked it intensely. True story! Lol. Not sure if that other angler repaired it.
Hey Jeremy, I'm looking to get the same Kaboat SK385XL you have. Do you still think it's a good boat for the money? I car camp at lakes and wanted an easy boat to inflate /deflate on camping trips. Can you advise any further?
Hey can you tell me what the weight of the boat is without ANY accessories? Without the seats, the pedals, the inflatable floor, pump, cover just the foldable boat while its folded?
There’s 18 inches of width inside, but once you get your balance adjusted, I would stand and bass fishing. Not sure about fly fishing, because I haven’t done it.
The seems are glued I believe with a type of PVC glue. I put a trolling motor on my mine because I didn’t like the oar style paddles, and a normal paddle was hard. And no, it is not self bailing, but I rarely got water inside.
Hi i like this video and boat. Can you tell me exactly what the weight of only the boat. Means whatever we can separate it from boat and the main unit weight. My plan to buy it from US and take it to my home town by flight in luggage. Max i can take 23kg in one bag.
Hi! Have you snagged your fishing hooks in the boat? I'm curious how strong the boat material is. Do you think it's easy to puncture holes with treble hooks or any fishing hooks? Thanks!
J7 Pro - the boat is actually made for rafting in rivers, and I believe even rated for Alaskan rivers and waters. It’s extremely durable. A hook would not really ever be something I would worry about. It would take an intentional force to put a hole in one.
@@FishingtheLoneStar I'm thinking of getting a Saturn boat for baying fishing here in the RGV, near the island, will that still be okay with a 10hp motor?
Joseph Ybarra - this particular model (SK385XL) is rated for a 10 hp motor. I’ve only used a trolling motor, but I’ve seen many people use up to a 10 hp. Some of the larger models hold bigger engines. This size has been perfect for me though!
@@FishingtheLoneStar I beg to differ . I took mine on a simple float trip and while putting the aluminum seat in it caused a pin hole that leaked air over night . Not something I expected but it did happen and that wasn't near as sharp as a hook . I have this Kaboat away to another angler last year. One of the seems had come open, but can be resealed with PVC glue. I’m pretty sure it came open though because a cow was licking it. Lol. Crazy, I know.
Hi, do you have any videos that show you paddling this with the kayak paddle? I'm just wondering how easy it is to paddle, considering it's a pretty wide/heavy boat (compared to a standard inflatable kayak) Thanks!
I don’t believe so. I did it once before I had the trolling motor, and swore I’d never paddle again. Lol. That being said, I plan on fishing out of it this weekend, so I can add a clip in there to show that.
@@FishingtheLoneStar haha, that doesn't sound like it was too much fun then! But if you don't mind paddling it a little for the video, that would be awesome! Thanks!!
Thanks for the video. We are seriously considering this boat but want to be sure that it will fit in our Ford Fiesta. Can you tell me the dimensions of the boat when it is inside the bag? I am thinking it is a bit smaller than the box size that it is shipped in. Thanks.
Rhonda Moraca - In the bag, laying flat, it’s almost 4 ft long, 16 inches high, and about 26 inches deep. I would think it would fit. I slide the passenger seat forward a tad in my Camry, and it stands/lays in the backseat on the passenger side, so I can still put the cooler I sit on in the backseat drivers side.
Sir I wonder how long that battery last... I mean running time...??? ... and do I need a boat license to ride with that motor... ??? Thanks it’s look beautiful boat set up you get Sir
It’s hard to say how long the battery will run, because it all depends on the size of battery and how much weight is in the boat, and how long straight you are running it. For the license, that likely depends on where you live. In Texas you just have to register the boat if it has a motor.
I think that is "Igloo Ice Cube Roller Cooler". 60 quart capacity. Exterior Dimensions ( L x W x H )-20 x 18.5 x 20.69 inches. Interior Dimensions ( L x W x H )-Top - 16.75 x 14.5 x 17.25 inches, Bottom - 15.25 x 12 x 17.25 inches
