Yes it is somewhat possible, (depends on the situation) however the equipment and skills needed to reball a new processor to a board outweighs the cost of a new laptop / PC. Also, most of the time a new gpu chip isn’t compatible with the board. (Specific pin types etc)

Last december i upgraded my MSI GT 70 laptop's GPU from Nvidia 970M 3GB to Nvidia 1060 6GB. Before Graphics Cards and Processors were permanently attached to the motherboard. In 2000 until 2018 and today, Laptop Motherboards are modular to replace the CPU or GPU, and other things to complement or power them such as batteries, cmos batteries, hard drives, and Ram too. But after 2018, most laptop brands no longer use modular motherboards, because it is considered not very efficient or takes up space. And also non-modular laptops (without replacing the cpu and gpu and removable batteries) are considered more compatible and simple while the price of production costs is quite cheap.

For the people wondering why I look like a noob taking four hours (actually about 3 hours) installing GPU drivers here’s why: The gpu I purchased (knowing well what I was getting into) is an MSI 980M 4GB. The 4GB model is not included in the INF files for the 980 on nvidias website. (Code 1617, the code 13D7 is for the normal 980M) So why didn’t I just get the drivers from HP? Well the gpu that I installed is not on the support list on HP’s website so I knew I was going to have to find a way to brute force the drivers to install. I went in circles with various driver versions for about 2 hours (my internet is slow) before I found a laptop modding site that walked me through how to code and decode the INF files to tell the driver it was safe to install. And there you have it, if you even read all the way through this lol. Edit 2: There is an easier way to install the drivers using device manager.
That’s with cheaper laptops, Google is not always right. Older workstation laptops can have the CPU, RAM, GPU, and storage drives swapped out. Some even have three 2.5” drive bays.
If your laptop is older than 2022 don’t even think about it. Plus I don’t think they even make MXM 4090s, they are usually soldered to the motherboard of laptops. I’d save your money for an entire pc instead of a 4090. U can get a 13th Gen i5 and RTX 3070 build for $1K
No actually I can’t put anything better in it cause a better gpu would overheat. Plus a better gpu needs more power which generates the heat. It is possible to fabricate your own cooler for a more powerful gpu but you would need an external power header which my laptop does not have.
@IsaacMega no, i currently found my dy dads old office computer, it has an i7 3rd gen and 12 gigs of ram, but has no gpu, so i was deciding to put my old gaming laptops gpu, (which is broken) on it , a geforce 940mx

For the people wondering why I look like a noob taking four hours (actually about 3 hours) installing GPU drivers here’s why:
The gpu I purchased (knowing well what I was getting into) is an MSI 980M 4GB.
Edit 2:
There is an easier way to install the drivers using device manager.
It's a shame that Windows just doesn't come with its own drivers for everything.
The drivers had to be force installed cause the gpu wasn’t on the laptops support list, even though it actually does work.
i have alienware 17 i7/4700qm /16 g ram / broken (gtx 880 m) i find qoadro m1000m can it run in my laptop plz awnser me i find it with good price
It will work but is a significant downgrade from the 880M
@@IsaacMega i didnt find another one like this price
That’s okay! As long as the GPU is MXM and has the same pin layout it should work great. I check already and it looks to be that way.
Be sure to get thermal pads for the VRAM and voltage regulator modules (VRMs)
@@IsaacMega yea sure I will try it and tell you the results thx
Why did it say 4090 in nvida
Because yes
hey jerry how do i get rid of sticky keys
Spam shift 5 times and select the thing in the window that pops up to disable the hotkey
thank u but what about sticky keyboard keys@@IsaacMega
Link to gpu
eBay, MXM 2.0 GPU
How to buy one laptop gpu pls tell me
eBay, and you have to make sure your laptop supports it cause not all laptops have a slot for it.
Thanks alot man!@@IsaacMega
@@IsaacMega How to know that the laptop has upgradable gpu slot.

What model bro?
It’s the HP Elitebook 8770w
Google says "Processor and gpu upgrade in laptops is impossible" and tf is this?
That’s with cheaper laptops, Google is not always right. Older workstation laptops can have the CPU, RAM, GPU, and storage drives swapped out. Some even have three 2.5” drive bays.
I’m working on a video on how to identify which components can be swapped out
Can someone say where can i buy 4090 laptop gpu?
If your laptop is older than 2022 don’t even think about it. Plus I don’t think they even make MXM 4090s, they are usually soldered to the motherboard of laptops. I’d save your money for an entire pc instead of a 4090. U can get a 13th Gen i5 and RTX 3070 build for $1K
Thank you 🙏
damn bruh you know yiu can get better than that right?
No actually I can’t put anything better in it cause a better gpu would overheat. Plus a better gpu needs more power which generates the heat. It is possible to fabricate your own cooler for a more powerful gpu but you would need an external power header which my laptop does not have.
I wanted to put a 1080 in it but since it has a higher power consumption I can’t. Plus I’d run into bottlenecking which would make it less worth it.
@@IsaacMega damn mb i just checked what 3000 series mxm gpus cost and there like $800 on ali 💀
U good, at least you know now.
What was the OLD gpu?
AMD FirePro M4000 1GB
Can I change it with Dell Inspiron 3501 with i3 11th gen laptop?
If the laptop has an MXM slot then yes. A lot of newer laptops dropped this standard and have the GPU soldered to the motherboard.
I’m pretty sure that laptop can’t even have a dedicated GPU
Nope lol
Can u use a laptop gpu in a desktop?
No, I wouldn’t even if you could. The performance of a desktop gpu is a lot greater than laptop ones
@IsaacMega no, i currently found my dy dads old office computer, it has an i7 3rd gen and 12 gigs of ram, but has no gpu, so i was deciding to put my old gaming laptops gpu, (which is broken) on it , a geforce 940mx
I would sell the laptop gpu and then get a better desktop one. I wouldn’t bother trying to adapt it.
Not trying to be mean, I’m just trying to save you a headache
@IsaacMega i see bro, thx for the tip, ill try selling my old gaming laptop, and see if im able to make any money off it to buy a desktop gpu
