What I remembered most was the attraction to her, as a young fellow and I don't mean the physical but the ability she had to be angry, frustrated and then to voice it. It was that sense of self, that I certainly craved for, and the sheer doggedness to say no more to the bullshit and the denial. Well bloody done and may you find eternal peace. Xx
Americans were too busy trying to get the next thing, materials and money, to pull our heads out of our asses to listen to her. All we know how to do is judge people. And she was right on every single count, RIP dear Sinead!
I LOVE seeing interviews with Sinead O Connor where the person speaking to her is respectful. This is not always the norm, so it it’s very nice to see!
Sinead lost so much trying to alert the world to the horrors of child abuse within the Catholic Church, in not just Ireland BUT the world. Sinead was 10 years too early for everyone else to comprehend what she was trying to warn us about.
Actually as a woman from Ireland, Sinead did not lose anything, her true fans knew and realised that she spoke the truth, especially when it came to the Catholic Church
@@leeleef That is so wonderful to know. I’m glad she had heartfelt appreciation in her home country. I was a teenager when her music came out and she’s always been an amazing artist to me. (I’m in the US) I never thought poorly of her for ripping up the photo of the pope, it didn’t change my view of her one bit. I only thought she is expressing something honestly from her point of view (which I didn’t comprehend at the time).
I loved Rosie O'Donnell as a talk show host who focused on her guests and their projects, just like she did in this video. She had a knack for being warm, friendly, supportive, personable, encouraging, and kind. Notwithstanding the flag in my profile pic, I'm an "unenrolled" voter who goes both ways, but I keep that stuff to myself in real life. I only wish Rosie had done the same, but instead she became argumentative, bullying, vitriolic, and hateful. I truly believe her "handlers" encouraged her to be this way, because I've had relatives in "the business" and I know that they serve an evil master. It's a shame that the price of fame, in Hollywood, apparently is so evil and dark. I'll be so glad when the general public learns more about what really goes on there, how it's run, and how filthy it is. Then it can be rebuilt, and talk show hosts can be as wonderful as Rosie was back in the day.
what a brilliantly written song! I've been listening to so much after her posting...when I was a teen, she meant the world to me and changed my life as a young budding musician. She was/is MORE brilliant and HONEST than I even remember. I love you Sinead.
She was honest, and there are few things that society hates more than a truth-teller. Compound that with a truth-telling woman. Compound that with a truth-telling gorgeous woman. Compound that with a truth-telling, gorgeous woman with a large public platform and audience to whom she can tell the truth.
Rosie O’Donnel is a good interviewer, respectful. It’s lovely to see Sinead being interviewed beautifully. It’s just lovely to watch Sinead’s interviews per se. I’m just watching Sinead interviews, live performances & albums from here on in. God, we miss her ❤❤❤❤
Great interview with Sinead. I'm a new Sinead fan... all of 3 weeks now and surprised she mentions ABBA as i'm a long time ABBA fan. And being a huge ABBA fan I was also surprised when I discovered Sinead did an ABBA cover of 'Chiquitita'.
I hated the fact people in "entertainment" industry blamed her bipolar on the fact she was trying to expose child abuse they'd say oh she's just a nutter she's mad no she was bang on look at Hollywood reaction to sound of freedom Sinead should be remembered with gratitude for all the lives she tried to save. This is most respectful interview ive seen with her thanks Rosie for treating her with utmost respect
I wish wish WISH I was more aware of her when she was still alive. I only knew her by that one song, was never aware of the controversies or anything else about her. Then I watched the documentary, initially out of boredom, and I was just floored. I FELL IN LOVE with her. WHAT a badass she was. It breaks my heart that such a genuine, talented, beautiful and courageous person and TRUE ARTIST (Yes, caps fucking lock) had to endure such a painful life. She's my hero now. And fuck bob Dylan, Eddie Vedder and everyone else for not backing her that night.
Rosie is lesbian that's why he said that. Sinead stated once that she's 3 quarters straight and one quarter gay but I dunno because of her bad past. Kinda glad she's not gay because she experienced enough problems she didn't need to be someone where the world's less accomodating for you too
l love how poised she is. So many have the mis-conception that if you have strong opinions & ideas, like Sinead, you must be some kooky banshee with no class. Shes proof we as women are capable of both, so lovely!
I would spend the night at my best friend's house and she had that very album by The Family whose singers were some blonde guy and Wendy's- of Wendy and Lisa- twin sister. She played that album all the time. When Sinead came out with her version of Nothing Compares to You, I did not recognize it. My friend reminded me. She asked me "Remember that album with Wendy's sister on the cover?" She said that's the song she's doing.
At 14/15 I shaved my head because she gave me the confidence to shave it. She also taught me to honestly not give a shite what others think and to always speak the truth regardless if people like it or not.
Sinead was esoteric no matter what she never compromised her principles. You were not crazy just misunderstood. Too intelligent for the dumb masses to understand. Rest in peace to God you have returned. 🙏
The musicians who recorded Sinead O'Connor's version mentioned that they didn't rearrange it. The arrangement Prince sent was what they recorded, including the synth ,strings and unique drum beat. However, they had to change the key.
I have nothing but respect for this strong woman. There wasn't a fake bone in her body. A true activist for the children of this world. She risked everything-her career and even her life to try to save the children from horrific abuse. As far as I'm concerned she deserves sainthood!
There is an easygoing flow to the interview which is refreshing given the turmoil, emotions and political fierceness which Sinead is often associated with.
And maybe you need to listen to Bessie 'no one wants you when you down and out' I think it's so true still today imagine how hard her life was back then thank you for all you have done in your time
I knew at some point during this interview and Rosie was going to Mac on her even if it was just giving her the compliment she definitely had no chance
