The only macallan i have tasted, macallan 12 triple casks. And I loved it, the smell and round tasty. Couple of ice cubes, opened the whisky well.
Macallan has a fairly consistent flavor profile across all their expressions. When they add multiple caskings, it certainly can round out the taste. If you find good prices on other Macallan bottlings, I’d recommend giving them a try.

Macallan 12 was my first experience with a single malt back in 2005. I love it, the wood spice, the elegance, the smoothness, dried fruits. It is the Rolls Royce of single malt. However, nowadays, I find them a little more "biting", a little less smooth than they used to be. I have noticed this with bottles that I bought (which are now $100 where I live) and in the bar. I don't think that I am imagining this, the quality dropped a bit for me and it is overpriced. So, I have been staying away from this brand. The 12 Sherry is better than the double cask that they sell and I agree, their 18 is definitely not worth $300 a bottle. The 12 is still Macallan's Number 1, just not quite what they used to be.
Agreed. Macallan used to be a go-to brand for me, but now I avoid it. While the price of their expressions have increased, so have their competition. There are so many choices on the market, I simply choose other brands now. Cheers!

Been over a year since I’ve had Macallan. Ordered some Norlan glasses and will get some Macallan once I can go to the store!

For me Mac 12 is like the Goldilocks whisky. It's straight down the middle, in a really good way! Papa Bear's was too smoky, Mama Bear's was too light, but Baby Bear's was just right! Depending on what mood I'm in I either go darker, smokier, than Mac 12, or I go a tad lighter, which often means Irish. Mac 12 is the yardstick. Love it! Cheers.

I like the 12. But my favorite scotch is the Mac18. Just so much better flavor to me.
I do like the Macallan 18, but it’s hard for me to justify $300 per bottle. The last bottle I owned was only because my generous wife bought it for me. 😉

I try to enjoy the more affordable whiskies in my collection for my nightly dram(s) and save the pricier expressions for more special occasions.
Whisky Riffs now, as for guitars, and gear, I’m more a raging gear-aholic.
