One of the very few Linkin Park songs that Chester doesn’t perform on, and this was at the insistence of Chester himself. For those who may not know, Chester originally sung this song, and Chester had the idea for Mike to try it. After hearing this version, Chester said “Yours is way better, don’t even use my vocal.” Mike said that Chester has one of the greatest voices of all time, so for Chester to compliment him in that way was crazy for him. @@DennisRadaelli I don't think there's much pitch correction on this. There's BTS video of him recording it and hitting these notes. It's just that it's harder to do live. Even Chester was able to do things in the controlled setting of a studio that he couldn't reliably do live. That's why he sang "The Messenger" in a lower key live, and usually split the "Given Up" scream in half. Mike can hit these notes this cleanly. It just takes the right setting and a few takes.

Have you seen Mike singing his own songs live? his compositions for the album "Post Traumatic" are amazing, but the singing career takes a long time of dedication, not all of us have Chester's conditions. As optimistic or fans as we may be, Mike does not have the same resistance or the vocal range, the only way to have a New Linkin Park is to get another vocalist who approaches Bennington's level, and that's the problem, that it is very difficult to achieve. Maybe with Adam Gontier (former frontman of Three Days Grace) or with a screamer and another normal singer

I hope They drop new album with Mike as a lead singer. Also they can use some unreleased music from Chester and Mike also adds some vocals and that would be great album.
I've been listening to this song a lot lately so it's pretty convenient that it's now on Spotify.
Every song that yall have put out has always struck my emotions in a way that gave me strength. I thank you for more than my childhood I thank you for my life. RIP Chester. Mike's vocals are just straight amazing and even his lyrics hit home in a way that I've never been hit.
This has me fully convinced that Mike could front this band
Reading the comments listening to this song is very endearing knowing that there is people out there still having hope and prasing this band its very heartwhelming
Rip chester...😔
@Eddie its a good song happy? And also my grandpa and his best friend died around that same time and i still say rip. But i get where your coming from the "rip chester" comment is very over used.
I've been waiting for this song to be official for a while. Thank you.
I remember finding this song somewhere on TH-cam when I was like 11, always wondered why it wasn't part of the official album. All these years later it's still such a good song. Super happy to see it on Spotify
DAMN, I hope Mike sings more. There's so much heart and soul in his vocals.
this is what I mean good morning!😄❤
The hole in my heart still hasn't healed from losing my childhood hero, but seeing that Mike and the others are keeping his legacy alive helps a lot.
glad i can finally add this song to my spotify playlist after so long
Linkin Park just uploaded 4 old songs :(
Oh, how I miss those school days when a new song drop.
I love ya guys, Linkin Park 4ever.
I have beautiful memories from the time I discovered this song, more than 10 years ago.
Nostalgia! Great one.
Life was much simpler then :)
@@suprmemee Absolutely!
I knew of Across the Line, but all the years I somehow completely missed this song til recently. Minutes to Midnight was my very first album I bought so for me it just feels like Linkin Park came back from the past to release this beauty to me. The fact that it's only Mike's vocals is bitter irony. This song is so good it blows me away.
Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant! Mike did an incredible job!!!! RIP Chester 🙏🏽💪👏
That last line “but there’s no regrets, and no roads left to run” hits so hard for me right now in this time of my life. One of my favorite songs hands down
One of the best bands ever, certainly the best of the third millennium. Listening to you means entering another dimension
These unreleased tracks just hit so differently with Chester gone. The nostalgia and the beautiful vocals just make this song so strong! R.I.P Chester: gone too soon but never forgotten ❤️
"Standing alone with no direction"
"How did i fall so far behind"
This one is another real banger...
For those who don't know:
this song was featured on the Minutes to Midnight Tour Edition and iTunes Edition
and yes, Mike sings this song
I am not a old fan but they came in my life at the perfect time when I was falling apart and the only thing I could handle was music and then came a time when I could only hear to linkin park because every thing else seemed like a lie. Whenever low I would just hear One more Light on loop. Sadly when I started getting better there came a time when listening to them started giving me anxiety but now I can proudly hear them just to value what masterpieces all of their songs are. Thank you so much for all of your songs and impacting everyone's lives like this after so many years. I wish I had discovered you guys when the band was together but that doesn't make me less of your fan. I hope you release more songs because somewhere they hit deep inside me whenever I hear them. On verge of crying just seeing all the emotions in the comments.
"Who cares if one more light goes out, well I do"
Saw the notification popup and tears ! This band is such a raw emotion
I remember hearing this years back as a "unreleased track" its so nice to hear it out now, brings so many memories back
Man I freakin love this song. I remember when I had to download it a weird way back then lol, same with My December, High Voltage, and Across The Line since they were unreleased songs at the time.
I don't care if they are "never the same again". Change happens. I will still enjoy the older music from when I was a pissed off teen. On the other hand, I can enjoy this. Though there will always be that bit of sadness in my heart.
I love all the albums, but I hate that almost trolling playing order in each album after MTM. From heavy to soft, from very soft to very hard!
Underrated as hell
in everyday and every i missed them i'm always to watch they concert at rock am ring 2004. they began their first album meteora at my date born 2001. MISS LP
come on bro, this is amazing. Thank you for releasing these amazing songs. thank you forever linkin park
Chester is watching you guys from heaven he would be proud that you guys still can going without him
This is a great showcase of how good Mike is at singing. :)
