- In this video I give a full in depth tour of the 1993 Toyota Camry. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

That's a 3rd generation LE V6 with the 3VZ-FE engine which was only available for 2 years (92-93) in the US (the 1MZ-FE replaced it for 94-96). The 3VZ is an iron block, aluminum head engine derived from the Toyota truck V6 of the era. They just added fuel injection. It also has 100% of its torque available from 2500 into the 4800 range. 185 hp at 5800 rpm and 195 ft/lbs at 4600 rpm.
The ECT button (and green light in the PRND2L column) you probably saw in the car holds the transmission's shift point to a higher RPM before up shifting and waits longer before down shifting. Basically, it allows for sportier driving, better throttle response, and lessened fuel economy.
About 35% of Camrys in this year were built in Japan (VIN starts with a J) and the rest were built in Kentucky (VIN starts with a 4). No major parts are different between the two, just a neat fact.
The 3VZ was also equipped with ACIS (Acoustic Control Induction System) which basically is a valve that varies the intake runner lengths to help optimize performance and low and high engine speeds. Kicks in around 3500, I believe. Sort of a weaker version of VVTi (toyota's variable valve timing). - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

@@00crashtest That would definitely hold true for FCA, but new GM cars do include the reliable yet engineless Bolt as well as a multitude of LT and Northstar V8s, and calling all German cars unreliable would exclude Volkswagen - most of their gasoline powered cars with manual or conventional automatic transmissions can run well for a long time as long as the service manual is followed to the letter.

What's awesome about a Toyota or a Honda from the 1990's is that they can stay on the road for years and rack up hundreds of thousands of miles on the odometer. Nothing can kill these cars; aside from an auto accident or a natural disaster.
@@michaellovely6601 Still drive one to this very day. Mine, though is XLE version with leather seats. Just changed the battery yesterday. These Toyotas are known as "baby-Lexuses", modeled after, I believe, ES-300... :)
Besides all the modern Camrys I see, these ones and the early and mid 2000s ones are the ones I still see the most of on the road. Toyota really knows how to make good quality and reliable vehicles that can truly stand the test of time.
I have a 2011 Highlander LE myself and I've been loving it. Pretty soon though, since i just graduated from college last weekend, I'm going to be getting a 2016 Camry XLE from my parents as my big graduation present. My brother got a 2015 when he graduated last year and he loves it. I know I'll love mine just as much since it'll be a giant leap forward in terms of technology and creature comforts. While I'll miss the capability of the Highlander, I'll definitely enjoy having more bells and whistles as well as much better gas mileage.

Easily the best generation of the Camry. And that 3vz-fe v6 is one to die for!
Toyota's build quality was at its highest when they built these vehicles. It isn't uncommon for these cars, both the 4-cylinder and V6, to get over 300K miles. That's one of the reasons many of them are still on the road today. I've seen a couple of these go beyond 400K with the original engine and transmission and no major problems from either. Perform the routine maintenance, replace the timing belt and water pump at the recommended intervals, and this car can go on for what seems like forever.
It's still very nice, our 2003 Camry has 200,000 miles with barely any maintenance,
therealjharris: I tend to agree. In my opinion the Japanese auto makers made extremely reliable cars during the 90's. I drive a 1999 Honda Accord LX V6 which I've had for 9 years. I just perform the basic maintenance and it continues to run strong. It does have just 117,000 miles however, but it's still a 1999 and everything works

@@josephbell2160 I had a 1998 Honda accord v6 4 doors it had 147k milles had it for 5 years totaled the car it had 230k milles they run good only thing I did was oil change, battery ,starter now I have a 00 Toyota Camry 143k milles for 2500 cash it's really nice

I love seeing all the love for these older Camrys! My family had a '95 Camry that we drove for over 200,000 miles. It was the car I learned to drive in, and it never let us down. There's something special about these '90s cars that newer models just can't replicate. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

This was my first car, except 1995 v6 xle. It was a surprisingly very fast car with 188 hp. Maybe it was weight power ratio, but that sucker moved.
Max speed is allegedly above 120. Not too bad for this tiny box.
Dude, 120 was easy. I still remember top speed run I had a buddy with me on a long stretch of empty highway in texas. Hit 137MPH.
Whoa, nice! My 95 V6 is a bit tired; 239,000 miles, bad struts, and a couple accidents in its history, so I don't doubt that it can indeed go faster.
computiNATEor well if you took further care of it it wouldn't be so tired and worn minus the accidents there are many other Camrys in much better condition with three times the miles on them

God, the memories... this was my first car, almost exactly, but my 93 had alloys, not steels with hubcaps and it was an i4, not a V6. Other than that though, same car. I learned to drive on it and it got me through high school and college. I've got a Mk7 GTI now which I adore but boy do I genuinely miss this thing. Just a bulletproof car. I still regularly see them on the road, even in 2020. This was Toyota at their best.

My pops has a 1996 Camry LE V6 with 220,000+ miles on it. Thing drives like a smooth dream. I shortly drove it the other day when I was asked to move it to a parking spot for my mom to park in the driveway and the brakes were so good. Not to mention it's a V6, not a 4-cylinder so it has some extra power.

wow this car is absolutely immaculate! this one's in good enough condition to be in a showroom, and i must say this is undoubtedly one of the best generations of camrys ever built. I drive an '02 camry le 4-cyl and I considered buying an older gen camry before bc of the reputation but I've had pretty good luck with it for the last 3 years that I had it and thankfully, it was not a part of the accelerator pedal recall.

I just bought my third consecutive Generation 3/3.5 Camry since 2006. I had a 96 4cyl, auto (218000 miles then sold), a 93 4cyl, manual (283000 miles, cancerous underbody rust, sadly decommissioned) and now I have a SUPER clean, garage kept like this one, 94 V6 with a sunroof! Only 122000 miles. A very powerful engine compared to the 5SFE 4cyl. It is a 94 so it is equipped with the aluminum block 1MZFE instead of the old iron block 3VZFE like in the vid. Nothing against the 3VZ, but the 1MZ is lighter by about 100 lbs! Great cars indeed, and that's why I've owned 3. I also love my 96 Paseo 5 speed. Cool rare little car. 90's Toyotas were (or are) the best cars!!!
My mom had one exactly like this except for the rims and hers was the 2200 2.2L in-line 4 with the performance 4 speed automatic, I sure wish I could have it back, there tanks!

Nice video. I have a 1994 as well as a few others. Mine hit 100,000 miles on March 3rd and now currently has 106,000. It needs a paint job and we are still searching for a guy that can do it at the right price. Our Camry hasn't idled that high :)
The digital clock is the same as in my 2016 Corolla. It's on top of the dash rather than being on the touchscreen display. Toyota makes reliable and durable cars. I had a 2006 Corolla with over 150,000 miles, no problems, until it was totaled in an accident. I now own a 2016 Corolla with over 50,000 miles and no problems either. I highly recommend Toyota.
Nice car. We've had that model here in Australia, but it wasn't released until Feb 93. There are a few differences, not just right hand drive. Your model has a foot operated parking brake, different seats, and a few detail differences, like lights, firmer suspension for Australia. The ECT button is.not a traction control switch, nor does it increase engine power. It purely holds the gear ratios until higher engine speeds are reached before it upshifts. Good, all round review. My friendly suggestion to you, is to take the car for a test drive, no matter how small, to perfectly round off the review.
my brother has this car in a 5 speed manual. i dunno bout in the US, but in canada it was extremely rare to get this car in a manual
DreadlockDrummer I used to own a 1992 ES300 5 speed. I believe less than 2.5% were equipped with that 3VZ V6 and the E53 trans. From 94 onward the 4 speed auto was the sole trans available.
+DreadlockDrummer I drove one, they are extremely rare to find and unfortunately I went with the auto in the hopes that I'll perform a manual swap down the road.

why did it crank into second gear and very slowly go down. I have a 93 v6 LE with 280k miles and I thought it was revving high today when it cranked up about half way through first. it does eventfully go firm though

Just for an fyi Kyle the traction control button is actually the ECT button for the transmission. There two modes on it which is power or winter if im not mistaking. But great job on ur vids! Keep up the good work bro!

These are still on the road today hear in Australia. The newest one left the factory in 1997. But there still a few around. More then the Falcon holden and magna's of the same era

FYI the thing you called a storage above the cup holders in the center console is an ash tray lol. Back when they put car lighters and ash trays in cars. I had my Camry 95 4 cylinder LE for 18 years which was my first car. Awesome style and reliability car from the 90s. Drove me 3000 miles to cali and back in that car. Got totaled by merging Honda CRV 11 she hit my driver side would of lasted 30+ years had 156k miles on it in 2013.

Mine doesn't have a muffler so it sounds cooler! lol awesome condition for this vehicle's age. I litterally grew up riding in a 93 Camry (familys first car, and it was the best investment in a car we ever made) and when I got a license it was my first car. I still drive it today! I wish it was in this pristine condition though.
What's the fuel mileage like for these cars? I'm considering getting a 92 Camry V6/automatic for 300 bucks just to use as a cheap beater for the rest of the year. I'm looking at that Camry or a 99 Malibu with the 2.4/automatic

Oh no! I’m just curious what paint fatigue meant, it doesn’t sound good. I just got a 95 about 7 months now and my spoiler already has spots from sitting in the sun everyday. :(

I have a 1996 Camry same gold color 150k miles in good shape mostly a problem with the front drivers side fender but I agree with that other comment this car is faster than I expected surprised me

@turkaljd Do all DOHC V6's have 4 cams then? I always took dohc as dual overhead cams so 1 cam for each 3 cylinders making dual or 2 cams.
This cars are amazing. I have two of them. One for parts. Has new engine and tranny. One is my daily 270k kilometers. All original. Suspension was upgraded. Something that really catches my attention is that this engines had hydraulic radaitor fans ran by the PS pump. Intresting design. If I'm not wrong newer models with 1mz-fe had same cooling system.

This was one of my original childhood cars in the family, except it was the xle model.
The 92-96 Camry was the best generation Camry ever made, without a doubt. The engines weren't plagued with oil sludge issues and these still had their own distinctive personality unlike the generations after 2001. What a find this car is.
Note that starting in 94, the V6 models switched from the 3VZ-FE to the "notorious" 1MZ-FE. The 1MZ has an undeserved reputation for sludging. They were just sensitive to abuse in the form of people not adhering to the called for oil change schedule. Change the oil every 5K/6mo and they stay clean. People look inside the fill port and think the engine is trash, but the reality is they're looking at the top of a baffle where there is no oil flow. The inside can be immaculate so long as the oil was changed regularly.
@@Tbird761 The 3VZ-FE was no angel either. The 1992-93 Lexus ES300, which shared the same engine, was prone to head gasket failure. That's why there are so few left from those first two model years. I found this out the expensive way... I bought a '92 ES300 a couple years ago for $2000. I already knew the head gasket was blown, but I didn't think the entire engine was unusable. I took it to a shop, and lo and behold, the engine was toast since it had overheated so many times. The rest of the car was cosmetically mint, but the inside of the cylinder heads were completely gummed up due to the head gasket blowing. I ended up spending north of $8000 getting it back on the road. Had I known this, I would have never bought the car in the first place.

This is almost exactly like mine, I have the Australian "Vienta" which is essentially the XV10 camry which came with a 6 speaker system and a CD stacker in the boot, double din stereo with tape deck.
My version also comes with automatic climate control, not the manual version seen here and the ect power button lights up in a different part of the instrument cluster, not in line with the transmission status and the rear seats contain pockets.
Front seats are also powered but I miss out on the sunroof and leather seats (much needed optional extras).
I have an Intrigue, the 4 cylinder runout version of the Vienta. I never knew they had that type of climate control and electric seats. I have only seen those options on the JDM Toyota Scepter (Camry rebadge). Happy motoring :-)

Best car ever.... I got a 1994 Toyota Camry LE V6 with 285,000 original miles with same original engine and transmission even same alternater. These V6 engines are bulletproof. Toyota is the best!

wow I would love to find an older Camry with low miles on it but unfortunately in Miami even with all the old people it's hard to find an older Camry with less than 250k. my 2000 Camry LE has 394 k miles on her but still looks and runs perfectly. the Toyota Camry is hands-down the best built four cylinder sedan on the road.

Very nice looking car. I believe the color is Almond Pearl Beige, same color as mine. I have a '93 LE, one owner, 112K miles on it. This was a great year for Toyota..although I have to be honest with you I was told to stay away of the V6 Engine. When one of the complaints about this car is the cup holders, (they could be in a better place), you have nothing to worry about. My VIN starts with a ''J'' for Japan where it was built. It's a SOLID CAR! No cheap USA parts from Taiwan it it!

Hello everyone, I'm going to buy a Dodge Intrepid in sometime the near future. My question is, do any of the dodge intrepid's models have rear folding seats? I had a 1993 and it did not, but I heard that later models did. If you know anything let me know.

@xdivisionx its because it was a cold start. Almost all cars idle high for 30 seconds-1 minute until the engine warms up.

We had a 1994 camry bought in 2004 for 5000. That ran GREAT until someone hit it at 3AM...It did have a power steering problem though. Costed 1000 to fix and the fan did not run by thermostat. It runs as the car moves or something so overheating in the summer was not unusual.
