I can’t remember where I first heard this but I have been spreading it around for years, 5200 is the Devils Toothpaste. Whomever came up with the saying deserves to be remembered. I’m guilty of using 5200 in places where it should not have been used. Of course we didn’t know better back in those days. My penance has been needing to remove it from a fitting that was bedded with it 40 years ago.
I’m enjoying your restoration of the 31 Bertram. Like others in the 1960’s we all fell in love with them.
Thank you! That stuff can be evil!! 🤣
Glad you enjoy the channel! Tons more to edit and upload!!! Check back often!!
Looking forward to the finished product
You and me both!! Thanks Bryce!! 👍
Cool video.
Love the videos you do excellent work. I do corian work and use a ton of acetone as I’m sure you do. Try putting your acetone in spray bottle it’s a lot easier than opening can all the time.
Thank you @TimKlaus389 !! Glad you enjoy this!! I do use spray bottles for Acetone, Alcohol, Mineral Spirits, Laquer Thinener and Wax Remover!! Thanks! I am sure anyone who reads this will be glad you mentioned it!! 👍👍

Is the Coosa board stringer sleeved for the bolts? Didn't look like it? One would think it would oblong the threw hole over time?
Great question! It is not sleeved but we do have a unique material embedded in the laminate on both sides of the Coosa with superior physical properties. The 5200 is a very strong, flexible joint and will absorb any vibration of the engines that the isolators may transmit. I also am very careful not to over-tighten the bolts and allow the 5200 to do it's job. I have heard of Coosa Transoms that required sleeves. I suspect the installation of the outboard was the likely culprit (over-tightening and poor adhesive). We have over 756 square inches of surface area bonded with 5200 ( @520 psi) and 8X 5/8" Bolts per engine. My math suggests it would take about 400,000 pounds of force to separate one set of beds from the stringers. I don't expect any movement will occur. Thanks for watching!
