    I’m 13 and going to sell bath bombs at a market in a month. This video made me realise that i need a shelter because if it suddenly rains my whole stock will fizz up 😂

    Do not lower your prices!! Don’t ever feel bad if you feel like your stuff is expensive. People don’t understand how much yarn (especially good quality) can cost and how much time it can take to make something. Good quality yarn is not cheap in Australia especially. Keep doing what your doing ❤️

    I feel like it was probably the type of market you were at, if it’s a flea market people are trying to get in first especially in the way of antiques etc

    Thanks for sharing your experience. I’ve learned over the years there are certain fairs or markets I do better at so stick to entering those ones. Do not lower your prices, your product is lovely and I can see it’s very well made with love. Also, I Love the bobble sweater you are wearing in the video. Do you have the tutorial for it?

    at the camberwell market thereare heaps of signs that say watch out for people stealing because it can be common at big outdoor markets. the people coming in the early morning asking for specific things are scavengers trying to get the beast deals early, and they make u say yes to everything because you dont know what else to say. and its normal for them to do that haha. good job on selling some stuff :)

    I think you did quite well considering the weather and the wrong type of fair. At first I thought your prices were really high until I realized you are in Australia. After doing the conversion to US dollars I think your prices are quite reasonable. Your items are beautifully made and your color choices are modern and sophisticated. Nice!

    Those people at the start of the market reminded me of the people who came early to a garage sale I ran with my uncle and sister after my grandmother passed away. They are absolute vultures. Really shameful on their behalf. Hopefully the more craft orientated market is more successful :)

    Being a regular seller at secondhand markets and new markets . My advice is you should have first went to it first. Then asked stall holders what they think and anything you should know or expect when you first get there . Most will be more then helpful in giving there thoughts .But ask a few to get a rounded idea . It would have saved youheaps of discomfort. Camberwell markets is well know Victoria wide and in other states as an antique collectable markets bric brack and new and aspiring desinger type clothes aswell as cheap clothes and toys etc.i have visted them twice there as a customer and anyone that goes to a bric brack market as a first time trader .must be aware of the early dealers and re sellers some are polite most are not but thats the lay of the land with these type of markets .i have no problems with them as i understand there motives and if my price and there price matches it is easy money . Also i will touch on your takings .to make 300 dollars at a market when you have the wrong products and have no really idea of what you got in for and add the rain slowing sales and people your 300 dollars is nothing short of amazing. imagine if you knew what to expect set your stall up better and worked out what sells better there and had more of it and the weather was on your side what you could make at a market not suited to your products. But in time you will work that out . Even us more regular market sellers make bad decision but when we do we do not covers site cost .which has happened once to us and alot it happens to newer sellers at more expensive site fee market. So i can assure you you did well when everything is considered . At markets number one thing is needed . you need a high turnerover of buyers if you have this even if you go to the wrong market for your stock you will still sell and you will do ok if sites fees are not crazy high. if it is the right market then your turnover skyrockets . Keep at it it is great fun and yes different markets will have different type of buyers . But i would rather spend 40 on a site example to make 300 at the wrong market then pay 100 for a site to make 300 at the right market .

      Wow! Thankyou this is great advice! I have definitely learnt my lesson in regards to not checking out the market first, but you’re right, $300 was a pretty good effort considering the circumstances! I look forward to attending more markets this year and learning from each one 😊 thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! ❤️

    I have only done 1 market and feel exactly as you did. Im in SA and felt a bit threatened by the early crew. Just wondered how you went with insurance? I haven't done any other markets cause have found the insurance so expensive.

    • @Katieree
      @Katieree  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! The market I did didn’t actually require us to have our own insurance. I’m not sure about S.A, but here in Melbourne there are quite a few markets that don’t require you do have your own insurance (you will be covered under there’s). Some also provide insurance in exchange for a small fee. Every market is different! Thanks so much for watching! ❤️

    Its not normal, it's rude! Ive been to a few markets and that shit would not fly with me. Early punters are very respectful, unlike what you described. It is also up to the market organises to sort that shit out. A sign just don't cut it. Sorry, coming at this very late lol.

    Have you connected your square reader to an Instagram account and if so, how did you do this, I have changed my Instagram account to a business account but I don’t think it is live. My first and only market I only made $36 and missed out on a couple of sales because I had trouble with my square reader. I think I’ve fixed that issue.

    • @Katieree
      @Katieree  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Vikki,
      I haven’t connected my reader to Instagram. I didn’t even know you could do that! I have since upgraded to the bigger better reader which I find is a little more reliable.
      All the best! 💕

    Sounds very familiar Kate!!😉 I've only done 1 market stall, which was a local trash & treasure type market. Like you, the vultures came during set up when busy & stressed & tried combining items with a total that was outrageously below my prices!😕 Barely any sales, as wrong clientele, so people commented prices were too high as they were all after bargain prices!! We decided never again, as I did price craft fairs in Adelaide & prices for stall spots were crazy expensive!! I'm glad you sold a reasonable amount..... you did better than me, so congrats!👍🎈🎉 I sell on Madeit.com.au & working on setting up Etsy store soon.😆 Blessings from Adelaide.💕🐨

    • @Katieree
      @Katieree  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahhhh it seems the vultures are everywhere!! Thanks for watching! Don’t lose hope! There are some very expensive craft markets in Melbourne too, but after some research I have found a handful who’s stall prices are very reasonable. Hopefully you can find some cheaper ones in Adelaide too! I love madeit and Etsy! I’m sure you’ll do great on there 😁❤️

    I have never heard of people doing that before!!! I have done a lot of markets here in the states and have never had that. The people who put on our markets make people go away until we are setup and open!

    • @Katieree
      @Katieree  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahhh it was crazy!! Not what I expected at all! This particular market was outdoors and not fenced off, so stopping people getting in would’ve been impossible! 👎🏼 I’m hoping they’re not all like that!

    • @taylorflanagan7218
      @taylorflanagan7218 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nanna Kate's Crochet I’ve never even done a fenced in market! I just feel like the amazing women who put on our markets would chase people off if they dared to rifle through our stuff during setup 😂

      Ohhh sorry haha! I didn’t find great success selling crocheted items at the Camberwell market. I found most people were looking for a cheap bargain, but there are loads of young people there! 😎
