It's tradition on ANZAC day for veterans to get together to raise a beer in a toast to their mates who didn't come home. That's why the pubs are open early. They go to the dawn service first to pay their respects to the fallen, then raise a toast to them at the pub afterwards.

Hi. I'm from Melbourne and I liked your enthusiasm for the place i call home. I've always thought it was a special place, so to have that re-affirmed made me proud. I also like that you didnt focus on the glitzy stuff and sat in parks walked around, and just chilled out. It was an easy watch and you felt like friends.

Fabulous to see you discovered Pellegrini's, one of my fav places and it is true about the 1st espresso machine in Aus. Also, the 1st pizza place in Aus was in Lygon Street, Carlton, our little Italy.
I have lived in Melbourne for 42 years and originally from Queensland (yep, I'm an old bugga) and Queensland is totally different to Melb and Syd.
Make sure you go to Healesville Sanctuary, part of Melbourne Zoo but north east of Melbourne in the 'bush'. The best place to see Australian animals up close and personal.
    Love watching your channel.

Very much enjoying your videos guys. You may have already left Melbourne by now, but given that your penguin experience at Philip Island didn’t really work out, do you know that you can see Little Penguins ( they are no longer called Fairy penguins) if you jump on the 96 tram to St Kilda (25 minutes). I’m a local here, but I am still super impressed that you can see these beautiful creatures against a backdrop of the city skyline. You may also see a Rakali, a native Australian water rat, that has a fleshy white tip on the end of the tail like a Ringtail possum. You will also be able to see Luna Park, with the world’s oldest still operating roller coaster and, perhaps, sample some cakes from the remaining cake shops in Acland Street which were established by Eastern Europeans in the 1930’s and 1940’s.
I trust that you will continue to enjoy your travels up the east coast.

LOL, Great video again! I'm SO glad you guys made the effort to get up with all of us who went to a dawn service. They happen all over the country and are amazing. I think our one at Cronulla had even more people than it did last year! and the number of children and kids seems to be growing each year too! It is a very special day, on which a few things special things happen only on that day. You know it's a special time/day when you're standing with thousands of others in the pouring rain and no one is going home! I hope you guys are having a great trip back home to see family. I'm so looking forward to your trip north when you get back and making your way up to Sydney. It's my city and I hope you like it too. Don't forget to look me up on here and I'll help you get about and see many of the sights Sydney and even my home town have to offer (as I did for "Rob Reacts" last year - I took them to the Blue Mountains and Many Beach). Anyway, Safe travels! 💒 🔔

Probably too hard for tourists, but the best way to observe Anzac Day is to go to one of the services in a suburb or country town. We go to the one in our own suburb. There's a short march, with a service in traditional form to follow. It's much smaller and more personal than the main marches in the city, somehow more moving.

Today in many of those bars diggers (soldiers) serving and non serving will be playing a game called Two Up which involves the tossing of 2 half penny coins. Players calling heads or tails. Its a shame you did not see that happening. Good luck at the wedding and look forward to your next video.

I guess now you have explained your time bending, you can keep the comment about how i met you guys in the airport as we boarded the same flight .
Love the respect you pay to big and small things in Aus and your previous travels. Great to meet you IRL.
I look forward to the three week later video in a few more days.😮
Looking forward to your more detailed take on Melbourne

Nice of you guys to go to a dawn service for ANZAC DAY . If you think Melbourne's got hustle and bustle wait till you get to Sydney . Good luck with the speech Tia , i was a big mess at my wedding speech but you will be great i'm sure , after all it;s friends and family 🙂

I'm pleased you had a positive experience in our "Melbs". I enjoyed the Grampians vlog you did as well. 😁

Nice work guys! Great to see Melbs through the eyes of Johnny Foreigner. BTW, when you get back to this place, take the time to have lunch at Pellegrinis at the bar. It's classic!

Oh, and Cheveyo, don't miss out on taking Tia to Acland Street in St Kilda. The cake shops are pretty iconic there! Plus there's penguins to visit at the end of St Kilda Pier

My wedding's in 2 weeks and I haven't written my speech either. I hate attention and public speaking so it's going to be quite daunting for me. But I'm sure Tia did well! Congrats to your brother! ❤️
