Happy Birthday Andrew ! 🎂 I will share my Mothers words of wisdom with you : You think your old at 30, then you turn 40 . You think your old at 40 , and then you turn 50 . You think it’s all over at 50, and then you hit 60. At 60 you feel ancient , and then you turn 70 and you realize how young you were …. Aging is not fun for anyone , but you are a baby Andrew , you have a long long way to go ! ( From a senior subscriber )

The main “ problem” and reason to sadness in growing old is/are the goals. We mentally establish where we are going to be when we reach this or that age… When we arrive, we are never at the point we thought we would be. And the problem goes on and and on until the cycle is broken : we never arrive because we are always going ( until we aren’t = death) and the best of ourselves and the best of our lives is where we are at, (no matter what ) because there is no other.
      Enjoy life. It’s precious!

I hope you understand this for the compliment it is: I feel sure I would enjoy working for you. Part of the fun in watching this channel comes from behind-the-scenes peeks at the company life of NC. This message was a real treasure.

It's a burnout feeling even when you like your work. It really piles on close to the 30 yr career mark as your parents pass and you realize your remaining time is less than your past. The value of personal time over business becomes more clear and some feelings of regret over past use of time start to creep in. So, take time for yourself and loved ones earlier than later.

Thank you for bearing your soul in this one, Andrew. You add value to so many peoples' lives. I resonate with what you said on so many levels. I was at the top of my game 3 years ago, having, as a single mom, taken my 6 kids to live in the Czech Republic. In spite of tons of criticism from family for doing that, we loved the people and they loved us, we built a business and we flourished. Then, because of covid, we had to come back to the US in 2020. Almost instantly, I was attacked by narcissists in every sphere of my life. I fell into that freeze response and I've pretty much lost everything and am having to start over. But, you sharing gives me hope. Those people think they've crushed me and that I'm done, but they've got another thing coming. I will not quit. I will not give up. The best is yet to come. And next time, we won't be coming back.

I’m a Canadian (America Lite, without the attendant ostensible perks of the US but sharing all of the socioeconomic downsides). Recently acquired my EU member passport and am giving Czechia a hard look even with not speaking the language (yet). Can you speak to the biggest cultural/socioeconomic differences (both better and any worthwhile worse) that would may immediately impact an under-40 expat settling there long term. Of course Prague would be the obvious initial target to set up for future plans due to English prevalence but was wondering about more “on the ground” tips that cannot be easily found online. Thanks.

    • @Pl-qq4yl
      @Pl-qq4yl 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

To help you with your question , Prague is already full of expats from all over the world. Yes, you can use English and learn Czech over the time, but the locals are not that friendly as they used to be before. They are tired of all foreigners. Prices are sometimes more than in Canada or US. I would opt for less crowded place. Czechia used to be diferrent than it is now. @@jasperalberts7647

I went through the same thing when a turned 40, I was a successful business man, smarter than ever, charismatic, loved by my employees and customers but still felt that emptiness once in a while. For the last 5 years I've been working on my spiritual side and I've have seen tremendous results. My goal of starting a business is never to sell, but to create an opportunity to do what I love. I would feel like an alien everytime I would say it out loud, but it's great to hear someone else finally say what seemed so obvious to me.
The thing about speed really resonated with me. Was talking with a friend, who always takes ages to make a decision about anything. I asked him, what exactly is there to think about for so long? I came to the realisation that there is no thinking. It's just coping. A paralysis, brought upon by this idea that there is a "perfect decision" that I need to find, and anything else is a failure. The reality is that doesn't always exist, and an imperfect descision that is swift and decisive is sometimes better than a delayed "perfect decision".

Thanks for your words on this particular episode of Nomad Capitalist. A lot of it resonated with me. You have made a huge difference! Keep digging, keep searching, there are other fundamental things which I didn’t hear you speak about which I believe is a huge part of your life! Please don’t neglect that. God bless you!

Belated birthday wishes, Andrew. Much of your business depends on your vision and personality. You’re building a legacy so definitely keep going. Three decades ago businesses running family offices didn’t exist, you’re a pioneer for an industry which services require more structure and that’s what you’re doing. It will become increasingly important for individuals and families.

I feel like I'm in a similar position.
Sometimes you have to recognise when you are mourning someone before you even lose them; because you know that you have to lose them.
When you recognise the physiological cues of mourning.. like when breaking up with a toxic girlfriend, facing the sacking of a once great employee.. recognise it for what it is.. primal instincts.. and don't be afraid of it hurting or feeling bad for a time.
You are built this way, and you should guard against people who naturally seek to take advantage of that whether they know it or not.
I appreciate you and your refreshing sincerity.
    Future client.

I have been subscribed for years because I was impressed with most of your ideas, philosophies and way of thinking about life. This is the first episode I have watched in about a year. Thank you for a heart felt expression of where you are in your life journey. I am curious what your spiritual life looks like? It seems you as I, underneath everything there is a tone of searching for the ultimate purpose and meaning of the few years we are given in the flesh. It takes years just to learn healthy ways to express the life we are given and for what purpose is it given us? Even as a Christian with prayer and constantly searching the scriptures for a deeper spiritual understanding of purpose, there is always more to learn.. God Bless you and your teams journey!

Happy birthday, Andrew. Thank you for sharing all of that. I am one who does not feel like I have a home. I love that your reading and searching was not all hard hitting business or heavy philosophy, that you read some simpler books and pursued ideas that were fundamental yet not so esoteric. I'm so sure how to capture all of those ideas but thank you.

Polyvagal changed my life. I'm from the USA, and moved to Madrid, Spain (Nomad energy) There I learned about Polyvagal. I took many courses, corresponded with the founder, Stephen Porges. With a couple others we started four zoom meetings a week only to talk Polyvagal. It's been 2.5 years, and the meetings are going strong! We have regular members from literally all over the world. Decided after three years in Spain to move to Portugal, way more Ventral Vagal vibes there and literally moved there because of Polyvagal Theory. So cool to hear you mention it here! PS. Eeyore is totally in dorsal vagal shut downL...Pooh in ventral vagal

This is a great video. I know exactly what you're talking about when you start discussing the "low self esteem" of your business. I'm ion a business that creates and manages highly competitive public sector bid events, and the vendors hate me with a black-hearted, all-consuming passion. Even my own customers bristle when they hear that the school district will be using our bid process, because then their favorite vendor may not win. It's been very very difficult to maintain a positive self-esteem about my business over the years, regardless of the millions of dollars we have saved our clients and taxpayers, not to mention the fact that getting close to government procurement and seeing the corruption at even the most granular level that ends up costing taxpayers dearly can cause me to lose nearly all faith in government. So, anyway, it was nice to hear you talk about that.
    Happy birthday, Andrew.

Happy Birthday Andrew. I have been viewing your content for years. I tried to use Nomad Capital’s services to assist In Citzenship by Descent but at the time I was informed that Nomand was not providing these services. It must have been when you were weeding out the corporate slackers. I have read most of the books that you mentioned but like your other selections. I highly recommend “Build” by Tony Fadell he has a chapter on not hiring assholes. Life is too short for having Toxic/Negative people in one’s life. You need to ferret out this cancer and get rid of them ASAP before they infect the rest of the team or your personal relationships.

Andrew, I am amazed at your ability to analyze and use that analysis to create a happier you, a happier (and probably more productive team) that will better serve, ( that's right) better serve your clients, and soon those who would love to be your clients. That talent alone is a piece of genius sadly missing in too many people. How blessed you are to have it and cultivate it as you do.
I'm 73 and my plan A now involves going where I am treated best, (reinforced by listening to you). Fortunately I don't need help with that but if I did, I would definitely come to you. Take it from an elder, you are moving in the right direction and what and how you are doing it will make many people happy. Continue to do what you come to understand is right for you and those you work with. That are many of us who listen to you who will be more than happy to praise you for what you've accomplished and will accomplish.
