I had similar experiences with the AS-D2. It was so mild that it ended up feeling tuggy even with Feather blades. I even got a closer shave with the KCG razor
My AS D2 is my daily razor and I have found that rather than the normal 30 degree angle, I get better results with 45 degree. Also for a BBS finish do a final ATG pass but ride the cap adjusting the angle to where you just start to feel the blade grabbing your beard. That pass gives me a BBS shave every time with the only irritation being that one small problem spot on my neck that an alum block takes care of. I have sensitive skin and this is the best mild razor that I have found for my beard/skin.
I bought one as a presuming step up from my merkur 2 piece now the build and quality is top notch and paired with the feather blades it gives a decent shave but it’s not a better shaver. But that’s personal. Even the van der Hagen a 20 dollar razor does a better job paired with the feather blades.
@starplyr88 Paco Rabane Invictus, Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous/Ombre Leather and Aqua di Parma Colonia. Now I can't afford any of them, so I enjoy the dupes.
Great review JD. Haven't tried the ASD2 but I am not a Tech fan so likely will pass. You should for sure try the Sauvage EDT or EDP (which are slightly different). Have a good week.
I wish they’d make an aggressive razor to match their aggressive blades. That would be cool - an all Japanese and all Feather setup that’s aggressive by design.
It's odd Feather doesn't have an aggressive double edge safety razor in their catalog. In it's place, one might consider the unassuming 'iKon Tek' safety razor. The mild design of this affordable razor hides it's very aggressive performance. (If only iKon offered a stainless steel version.) Feather does offer the aggressive 'Feather Artist Club DX' folding and kamisori-style replaceable blade straight razors (along with the milder SR and mildest SS straight razors). Pairing the DX with their 'Feather Professional Super' single edge blades will provide perhaps the most aggressive shave outside of a traditional straight razor.
Sadly double edge blades and shaving is at the bottom of the chain for feather these days. It will always be a surgical company with other sharp things included like scissors etc.
you definitely want to stay away from savauge if you can. too many people are wearing it you don’t want to smell like every other bloke man there’s a lot of small niche houses making wonderful fragrances you should look around
Very informative video. What I appreciate most about the Groomsmen videos are that they are honest and not shilling a product. Well done.
Thanks for that!
This is Scott I agree 100% I had the same conclusion.

I get a better shave from the KCG than some razors quadruple the price. Solid razor.

Have you ever tried a Gillette Tech?
I've just purchased this razor and yes it is very mild but wow it gives a great 2 pass. I use the Parker blades
Same here, the razor is super smooth, however I need more effort, which results in… you guessed it. Not so the Mühle R 41 one pass, boom 💥
Great review, I like the techs, but same results as you, I sometimes get irritation due to over shaving. Have a good week, Cheers
hope you have a good week as well!

Sauvage is one of my top five designer fragrances.
ok, now i wanna know what the other 4 are!

@Patrick Wroblewski nice! I enjoy Fabulous, and ADP as well, haven't tried Paco Rabane Invictus though
@@jonathandavis2419 Stirling makes a dupe of Invictus called Triumph. I'm hoping one of my rotten adult children will get me that for Father's Day.

thanks! do you have a preference for the EDT or EDP? i saw a ad recently for an Elixer recently as well.
@@starplyr88 I like the EDT myself but both are pleasant.
