For me, Elegy is the best of all your compositions / arrangements. It causes the same strong emotional reaction today as the first time I heard it. I look forward to playing it tomorrow ( the neighbours would not thank me playing it tonight ). Your beautiful harmonic language also shines through in the slower movements of 'O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden' - very dark! Thank you Paul.
I have to say, Paul, that the last piece, Variations on "O Sacred Head" brought tears to my eyes. The emotion there is heartfelt and pure. Brilliant writing!
The depth of these compositions is so much richer on a Cavaille-Coll instrument....even as done by Hauptwerk. And, this music drew me to be in prayer for all of Ukraine and it's peoples. Especially Christ's unity with all who suffer in the text...O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden.
What can I say?!?! That "O Sacred Head", especially the last movement... so weighty and introspective, that the weight born by Christ, in death, is beginning in a small way, through music, to be understood. Thank you so much for this! 😍
I have just started looking for preludes and postludes during Lent so I will be making use of these for something new which I know will be loved by the congregation. Thank you so much for your wonderful music.
It was wonderful to hear this recital of your beautiful compositions, Paul, on a new, soon-to-be-released 'created' sample set of the St Ouen Cavaille-Coll instrument: bravo!
I really like your "Lenten Collection" Paul. I also think that the tune/setting and words of 'Love Unknown' by J. Ireland are very meaningful and beautiful - your setting was beautiful!
I adore your style. It reminds me of one of my good friends who is also an accomplished organist and gifted improvisationist-- who also likes penguins, as it happens! Thanks for this lovely collection today.
A beautiful meditative opening - prepares one for Lent - good on you Paul. Your middle section is one of the most calming meditative pieces you have written Paul - it finishes in a whisper.
Paul, this was EPIC. Your composing is becoming so refined, to say nothing of your playing. All of these pieces are gems in their own right, especially Variations on 'O Haupt...'. Epic and stunning.
That is a great recital. You are a talented musician and composer. Your pieces are diversified, with nice sample sets and well played. It is like your soul speaks through the music.
A really beautiful program today, and a great idea to feature these pieces written earlier. A year ago, many of us had never heard of you and may have missed these great pieces for Lent.
This video recording is absolutely stunning! I've been looking forward to listening to this all day long. And it was worth the wait. I absolutely loved "O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden". This is one of my favorite hymns and the way you played it was magnificent in every detail. Thank you so much for your willingness to share your artistry with the world.
Aaah my dear organfriend, you had my full attention, the whole 25.09 minutes... You're so talented! What a blessing this is...😌 And this is really a stunning sampleset! Now waiting for an email from Samuel 😊
Lieber Paul!
Can't wait till I get my Hauptwerk setup done in the near future and hopefully this sample set will be released. Very well done of one of the best organs ever built IMO. And again great job Paul. Writing great compositions every week it seems
During this time as we journey through Lent in the midst of the looming threat of conflict; would you consider offering an improvisation on the Karl Jenkins Benedictus from the Armed Man Mass for peace? It gives expression in sound to the mute silence of our tears streaming down our cheeks in silence; we need expressions that give voice to our prayers for peace, and the sadness of what’s happening in Ukraine. Thank you for considering.
I still listen to your music and love it .... but why can't you admit to being human? Bach lived and laughed and loved and played. Why can't the penguins and the blue bird be a part of your wonderful reality.
@@PaulFey Maybe you didn't see it, but I asked you about your penguins and the blue bird picture several posts ago. I have an undefinable rock like thing on my desk that I keep by me all the time. Why do I do it? Because it points out the mystery we are a part of. So, why the penguins and blue bird picture? Why can't you, young master, share some of what most likely is your wonderful "inner kid?"
Paul your beautiful music makes me feel closer to God. You awaken my spirituality by your music. Thank you !
Thank you so much, Richard!
Watching this on my big screen TV makes a huge difference. Thank you, Paul, for very moving pieces.
Thank you so much, Robert! 😊
