Hi Ian, a nice set of bowls, great results, as always. I was wondering if you'd share your microwaving wizardry with us? Apologies if you've already done this. I've inherited my mother's microwave and so far it hasn't made it to the kitchen... Many thanks for your entertaining and videos, Chris
Haha it's something I've been trying out for a little while and it does seem to help with the drying process. I'll normally part turn the bowls but leave them pretty thick because they're likely to warp a little when losing the moisture, I'll microwave them for like 3-4 minutes at a time, do that a few times and them leave them somewhere that isn't too hot or cold for a few days and then turn the rest, seems to help with stopping them cracking or warping when you've finished with the turning as they're quite a bit drier.
Many thanks for sharing Ian. Will start experimenting based on your experience. BTW I bought myself a Laguna 1836 a year ago after following your channel. Fantastic lathe!
I wish you had used a V-shaped sled to hold the round log while cutting on the bandsaw. Viewers might emulate this with a smaller round piece and get a nasty surprise if it isn't held tightly enough, not to mention a bent blade.

Stunning set of gorgeous bowls.❤❤❤ What kind of wood did you use??😊😊
Thanks Karen! I believe it's Holly but I'm not 100% sure, I'll ask the guy who cut it down.
Very nice, unique individual bowls, Ian 😊 what was the wood you used? ❤
I'm wondering the same thing. My guess is holly
I think it might be Holly but I'm not 100% to be honest, I'll have to ask the fella who cut it down.
Yeah I'm thinking it could be Holly, I'll have to ask the guy who cut the tree down

What is the name of the type of wood you used? Thank you
Hey man, I think it's Holly
