  • 2014 to 2020 Toyota Tundra 5.7 CrewMax. How to change your front, rear and transfer case fluids. I advise to change the rear diff every 15,000 miles and the front and transfer case every 60,000 miles based on my findings of hard off road use. Ravenol is a synthetic fluid.
    I advise DO THE FRONT DIFF SERVICE FIRST! Its hard to push all the fluid out of the bottles into the front diff so you may need to open the bottles for the rear diff to get all the fluid into the front diff. But dont worry you can use the rest of the bottle into the rear diff as there is more room.
    Tools Needed;
    -24mm socket
    -3/8 Ratchet
    -10mm hex bit
    Fluids Needed;
    -6 Bottles of 75w85 GL5 Fluid

    Hey there, really appreciate your video and tips. Managed to get my front/rear diff and transfer case done today. The only thing I recommend others do on the front diff is using a pump, you can fit the straw into the Ravenol straw snug and turn the bottle upside down. Takes a little more time but it ended up being easier for me than try to fit the Ravenol bottle awkwardly above the fill plug.

    I like your tip on the little shot before the plug reinstallation I thought I was the only one who did that!

    Good information and thanks for the video. The Ravenol gear oils and transfer case fluid shown in this video can be purchased from Blauparts for a better deal.

    My 18 doesn't have greasable u-joints. I went under ready to lube it up and was pleasantly surprised. Lol

    I keep adding the link to Blauparts for this oil but it keeps getting deleted. They sell it on Amazon but cheaper if you purchase it directly from them and discounts.
    They recommend
    Ravenol Gear Oil MTF-1 75W-85 GL-4 GL-5
    For front and rear differentials
    Ravenol Gear Oil MTF-3 75W
    For transfer case
    Just put in your truck information and it will bring it up. They said the LS is not needed though.
    I had several chat sessions with them today on their gear oils and I learned alot.

      The Toyota dealer says my tundra has a limited slip differential so I need the Ravenol 75w-85 with the LS additives it’s about $5 more per liter

    Dude all you have to do is use a fluid pump like the slippery Pete one...makes it lot easier

      Love it. Make sure they do the rear springs coat the bushings in the correct grease. Or you will be fighting squeaks. I wish I would of went big with the bp51s but it’s a easy upgrade when I win the lotto lol

    Damn I wonder why it’s so dirty for 30k miles ? Mine looks golden at 50k which is when I do rear diff and transmission fluid changes. Maybe they tow a lot

    I have been really looking into this Ravenol oil. I plan on doing it myself but I called 3 different Toyota dealerships in my area and they all use Valvoline 75-90 on the front and rear diff and also transfer case. That has me stumped! Why, I asked and they really couldn't answer since I stated that's not what my service manual says. There really isn't many other alternatives.

      cost. Another toyota master tech mentioned it in her videos. Toyota dealers get them in big drums.

    If you would have just loosened the fill plug first and then started emptying the bottom drain before removing the fill plug, you could have kept from making a mess.

    I hear people using amsoil 75w90 in transfer case... I know the spec is what you stated... And thoughts on the 7590???

    • @davidd6854
      @davidd6854 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a Toyota technician tell me that as long as it’s a 75w it don’t matter. It can be 75w whatever and still good to use in transfer case

    • @666dynomax
      @666dynomax ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@davidd6854 local dealer told me they use black barrel 75w90 anyway sometimes Castrol sometimes they don't even know. Same as their motor oil. People go to the dealer expecting Toyota fluids.... Funny expect that at all folks

    Looks like it was done correctly....I would have replaced the crush washers on all the drain and fill bolts though.Since you are working at a Honda dealership i'm guessing you had none available?2017 4x4 Tundra owner : )

      Possible water intrusion or not 100% level on the lift.
