    So at the end of Skyward Sword which is the beginning of the timeline, Demise makes a curse or something like that, a promise that he will return and that sets up a loop. The three parts of the triforce are always Link, Zelda and Ganon/Ganondorf(ganon is referred as the animal form and ganondorf the gerudo form), so yes every other new generation you got a new Zelda a new Link and a new Ganon that will always clash, sometimes evil wins sometimes doesn’t, and no they don’t keep their memories(except ganondorf I guess lmao) they are different people but the destiny is always the same

    • @SpiritOfSpite
      @SpiritOfSpite ปีที่แล้ว +11

      "New Ganon" isn't totally accurate since he only reincarnates once between all three timelines, aside from that one time (which since he keeps his memories is a bit questionable) it's always the same Ganon from Ocarina of Time just either older and wiser like in the adult timeline or dumber and revived like in the other two timelines.

      Actually technically there's only 3 Ganons so far compared to 11 Links and 12 Zeldas, It's actually incarnations of Demise which represents a majority of the Zelda villains bar examples such as Majora, Bellem, Yuga and Nightmare. Vaati for example would be the first incarnate in the timeline. It's demises's corruption corrupting people. Ganon is the true reincarnation but he's only incarnated in ganon 3 times.
      OOT Ganondorf (is the Ganon in most of the games)
      FSA Ganon
      TOTK Ganondorf
      And technically Aganim but he was more a reincarnate vessel so that Ganon could act outside the dark world to gain more power and influence which makes him more of an incarnate or an incarnation of Demise and i have no idea what to call that.

      @@BARALover96 Only Skyward Sword Zelda is Hylia’s reincarnation.
      Hylia is apparently back in wherever the gods live. Because we can speak to Hylia via the Goddess Statues, while Zelda is still around.
      For example, in BOTW, Hylia (via a statue) lets us know that the Dragon Naydra was corrupted.
      It doesn’t make sense for Hylia to be reincarnated as Zelda, yet also be present as Hylia in the heavens.
      It also doesn’t make sense for her to reincarnate via the bloodline, because parents and children can be alive at the same time.
      BOTW Zelda’s mother had the sacred powers too.
      Let’s assume she is Hylia’s reincarnation.
      She gives birth to Zelda, who also has sacred powers.
      Would that mean that Hylia somehow has two incarnations at the same time?
      I know the mother died, but she and Zelda were living together at some point.

    This may come off as a bit pretentious, but i think the main appeal of Zelda Lore can be compared heavily to the appeal of Chess. You familiarize yourself with the pieces, how they can move, which pieces have more potential to be significant than others, etc. then the fun comes in figuring out in what order those pieces move, and where those pieces go. and what pieces play what part in toppling the King. By having a mostly solid structure to serve as the basic foundation for the story it puts more emphasis on the details of each game, and its these details that make each zelda game a unique experience while also giving them a cohesion that makes a Zelda Game easily identifiable.

    I mean royal family's naming their kids after other members of the royal family was a common thing so every princess being called Zelda fits. Even then the only members of the royal family we ever hear about is the current princess and maybe the current king. With link it could be they're are named after the previous heroes as a good luck charm i guess since not all the links are blood related, they are tied together by the Hero's spirit.

    The curse goes for those who carries the Blood of the Goddess and the Spirit of the Heroe, the wrath of the demon king will chase them for eternity. This implies that all the Zeldas are descendants from Zelda (Skyward Sword), she was the reincarnation of the Goddess Hylia and all of the Links are the reincarnation of the Spirit of the Heroe (the spirit of heroe is the player, that was Miyamoto´s intention whe he created link, he is the "link" to the player, That´s why he never speaks in the games). There's a fan made comic someone made that makes fun of the fact that every hero and princess is named Link and Zelda respectively. Zelda tries to ask the army captain if he has anyone that goes by the name Link, and then all of them, including the captain, stand up. She finds out that two thirds of all children are named Link in their parents hopes that their child would be the next hero. It annoyed the historians trying to separate the accomplishment of one Link from another, and it also made sorting through mail a headache too. She also states that she's Princess Zelda the four-hundred and ninety-third.
    As a side note, theres a fan made series called A Hero's Purpose by MajorLink that tries to fill in the gaps on what happened to the Hero of Time between the events of Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess. I do recommend checking out out. As well the Ocarina of Time remake playlist by the same TH-camr.

      My head canon is that there are two Links in the child timeline. The one that originally was there sleeping in his home in Kokiri forest, and the one that was plucked from the adult timeline and put into the child timeline.
      The adult timeline Link lost the protection of the Deku Tree when he gets sent to the new timeline. He can no longer hear Navi, which is why she leaves without saying a word, and why he gets lost when he goes into the Lost Woods to look for Navi at the beginning of Majora's Mask. The child timeline Link goes on to marry Malon and their lineage births the Link you play in Twilight Princess, while the adult timeline Link goes to Termina, becomes a knight when he returns, and then later becomes a Stalfos, the Hero's Shade.

    The Hero of Time didn't know he'd be forced to sleep for 7 years after pulling the Master Sword until he was awoken 7 years later and told such.
    The reincarnation of Ganon in Four Swords Adventures is the only time a new Ganon is born. All other appearances of Ganon is the same character. Ganon's reincarnation remembers his past life, but Link doesn't remember any of his. Princess Zelda doesn't reincarnate, the Hyrulean Royal Family just carries the blood of the Goddess Hylia thanks to the first Zelda being Hylia reborn as a mortal.
    Breath of the Wild wasn't put on the timeline because it isn't on the timeline. Breath of the Wild was the beginning of a series reboot, whether hard or soft. If it's a hard reboot, then Breath of the Wild is the start of an entirely new coninuity. If it's a soft reboot, Breath of the Wild takes place so long after the latest entries in the timeline that it doesn't matter. 10,000 years is longer than the entire length of the timeline itself, and that's just the last time Calamity Ganon broke free before the time that almost killed Link prior to Breath of the Wild. Also, Hyrule would have had to go through at least one cycle of being completely destroyed and then restored; as in a separate dynasty. This is because Tears of the Kingdom sees Zelda sent back in time to the era of Hyrule's founding.
    If it was the same founding mentioned in this video, the queen would have been the first Zelda. Instead it's a completely new character, Sonia; and she's married to someone named Rauru. Notably, not the Rauru who hid the Triforce in the Temple of Light. This Rauru is a member of a completely different species called the Zonai, and the royal family of this dynasty of Hyrule is distinguished as being of Zonai blood, rather than carrying the blood of the Goddess. Tears of the Kingdom also lends credence to this continuity being a hard reboot, because one of the scenes showing Zelda in the era of the kingdom's founding is a recreation of the scene from Ocarina of Time where Ganondorf made a false vow of fealty to the King of Hyrule. His treachery even ends with him being sealed away.

    So a couple of things this video doesn't really touch on, some of which are still technically theory but also sort of implied. Whilst the default name is Link, we choose the name. The heroes of the past are never actually referred to by name, they're referred to as 'hero of time' 'hero of wind' etc. So technically the name we choose is sort of canon. Whilst the video says that wind waker Link is THE Link, it's kind of implied that he is not a reincarnation, but actually a new hero, that is tested to be acknowledged by the gods. The 'spirit of the hero' was sent to the past after all. This is also why the triforce of courage is shattered into pieces. As he's sent back, the triforce of the present both does and doesn't get sent back, causing it to shatter in the present.

    Nintendo makes each game perfectly playable standalone without having to know the lore but if you DO know the lore you get a lot more out of each game. The connections between the games were purposeful from the beginning of the series.
    They also make gameplay ideas before locking down the lore so it allows them to be very experimental with the gameplay making each title its own distinct thing instead of the same thing over & over again. Wind Waker is a great example of this.
    The best way to put it is that Nintendo creates Zelda lore in a Tight/Loose fashion.
    Tight enough to have connection but Loose enough to fit a game/story within previous entries if needed.
    They always leave something open so they can fit in new games to the collection without painting themselves in a corner.
    In Nintendo's eyes, Zelda fans THINK they know all there is to know about Hyrule & the world of Zelda...
    ...but they don't know EVERYTHING about this world we made & we will feed it to them piece by piece with each game.
    Each game that comes to the series makes the lore richer & richer which eventually makes all the games more valuable.
    It's great for Imagination Land AND Commerical Success. The series' value accumulates over time by doing it like this.
    Say a newcomer who has heard of the legendary-ness of The Legend of Zelda wants to jump in & play, he/she has almost 40 years of varied titles to play through. Each game that person has a good experience with will be locked in as a fan once he/she sees a reference to that particular game in another Zelda title. THEN he/she becomes infatuated with the lore as a result.
    They wonder how far back Nintendo planned all of this. Was it mapped out early on or patched together as they go or both?
    There was always a Meta-Game Nintendo had in mind with this series. And how they suck in new fans is part of that game.
    The appeal of this series ALSO exists because Zelda is a Religious series. It has parallels with real world situations.
    So these games might tell hidden truths about our actual world making you wonder what Nintendo developers read!
    You see elements of Christianity, Shinto, Buddhism, & so much more within along with Science.
    Princess Zelda could be an allegory to Jesus Christ just as much as she can be an allegory to Amateratsu the sun goddess.
    So at some point the lore adds weight to the study of philosophy/religion as well.
    One of the 3 Creation Goddesses named Nayru the Goddess of Wisdom can also be known as the Goddess of Water & the Goddess of Sky when you see the connection between the merman-like Zora & the birdman-like Rito.
    Zora Fish "fly" in the water just like Rito Birds "swim" in the sky. So that's how Zora & Rito connect.
    And before you know it, you've stumbled onto the story of the Firmament which says that God divided the Primal Sea into Upper Layer & Lower Layer. It's ALL Water really. The molecules are just thinner & more spread out in the Sky over the Ocean.
    Triforce can easily be tied to the Trinity. It's very heavy stuff actually. I'll stop here.
    But never make the mistake of thinking Nintendo didn't think this lore through. It's convoluted but very purposeful.

    Seriously though, the Zelda series is pretty crazy with its lore. And I guess this vid is an okayish vague nutshell on the entire series. The person did get some stuff wrong and skipped over a lot of other stuff but I get that she just wanted to save time. @acrab6527 Lol untrue. I have played every single zelda game (many multiple times) and have read the hystoria and encyclopedia multiple times as well. Leading up to TOTK I replayed every Zelda game in chronological order to the timeline. The Zelda in Skyward Sword is the only one who awakens as the Goddess and regains memories of her time as the Goddess Hylia. Every Zelda after that is just a descendant of Skyward Sword Zelda. They all carry the sealing powers of the Goddess passed down in their royal bloodline. Their powers awaken at some point but never memories of past Zeldas or of the Goddess. The triforce doesn't even appear in alot of Zelda games lol. Nor does Zelda gain the full triforce or even the wisdom piece in every game. Link is always the heros spirit reincarnated. The Link from Twilight Princess is a direct descendant of the Link from Ocarina of Time. Just because some Links are descendants of other Links doesn't mean they aren't the heros spirit reincarnated. They are both descendants and the spirit of the hero reincarnated. After all that Link has been long dead at that time. Demises curse literally specifically mentions that his curse will follow those with a special hatred for those "who carry the spirit of the hero and the blood of the Goddess." He's a random kid but one who carries the spirit of the hero chosen by the Goddess. That's why only he can weild the Master Sword. It's the hero's sword and literally chooses Link as it's Master every time. Fi's farewell speech echoes that "Goodbye Master Link, may we meet again in another life". Also in Wind Waker they dress boys in green to honor the hero of time (OOT Link). Not because they are aware of the reincarnation cycle. Noone is. Also they don't name every boy Link in that game either. That's not a tradition in that game or any Zelda game. Its a tradition to name most Royal females Zelda but that's it. Noone is aware of the reincarnation cycles. They're aware that the royal family carries the blood of the Goddess and her sealing powers that are dormant till they need to be reawakened again but that's it. The hystoria, encyclopedia, and the official site timeline all confirm this.

      Demise clearly stated that he cursed the SPIRIT of the hero, and the BLOOD of the goddess.
      Spirit = Reincarnations
      Blood = Descendants
      All other Zeldas are just descendants who have holy powers just because they are related.

      @@Ahouro that’s a straight lie. The earliest POSSIBLE timeline is one that was developed around 2003 as a developer team eyes-only, something they were fiddling with to see IF THEY COULD connect all the games, and the first official timeline ever listed to the public as canon was not put out until almost a decade later, in late 2011. Apparently the experimental version is suspected to be a bit older but it is not expected to be decades earlier as it would need to be for it to be at minimum a work in progress by the second game, Even if we assume the experimental version was created a few years earlier in 2000, you’re already 5 Zelda games deep with Majora’s Mask almost ready to ship out, and if the date of the experimental is accurate, they were already up past windwaker. As for the timeline players would have any clue about, that wouldn’t be posted until December of 2011, so basically just 2012. By this point, there were only 2 other games besides the BOTW duo that had not been made yet. The timeline was 100% a theoretic connection of games that were not intended to be connected, at least as early as Majora’s mask and all games before it, and they did not settle on a canon decision until 2011, and it does not take you 8-11 years to know what you’re doing, they were re-arranging puzzle pieces to make something that “kinda” fits. And BOTW just definitively puts it to bed, cause they just stopped entirely and didn’t even try to add that one in, 6 years it’s been and you’d think they’d stick it on the line if they had an intended lore from the start, but clearly they’ve decided trying to piece it in is more trouble than it’s worth. Treating re-boots like they were a crafted lore-recipe does not work.
