I think the predator has ALIEN bones in his ship in predator 2 so he’s obviously won on some occasions but future films not always the case. Not trying to deliberately ruin it for you but it’s a brief scene you’d have prob got it if you’ve seen Alien.

Alien vs. Predator started as an in-joke on the set of Predator 2. One of the set decorators put a xenomorph skull among the collection of various trophies in a very brief scene in the sequel. It wasn't even supposed to be noticed, but noticed it was and that started fandom talking, "Are these two films in a shared universe?!?"
The idea gained greater strength when an independent comic company called Black Horse Comics purchased the comic rights to both franchises around 1989 and started producing a limited B&W comic of Alien Vs. Predator. [They published other comics like Terminator vs. Robo-cop too.] The fans kept pushing for a movie adaptation and that finally came out in 2004 with dialogue and casting confirming the connection between the two already established franchises.

The clicking sound the Predator makes was come up with and performed by the same man who is the voice of Optimus Prime in the Transformers original cartoon and movies. He's also the voice of Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh lol. When they were making Predator they realized there was a great deal of the movie where the Predator himself wouldn't be seen....as a filmmaking device and a matter of practicality because while they were filming the movie they had scrapped the original design of the creature and were winging it until they came up with something better. But they needed a way to indicate its presence without actually showing it. So he was revealed in stages. You hear the clicking. Then see what IT sees. Then see it invisible. James Cameron designed the final creature on a plane ride as a favor. It was originally a bug looking thing (that didn't look nearly as athletic or cool as the final Predator design) played by a young Jean Claude Van Damme. With the final design they realized they needed a much taller actor so they amicably parted ways with Van Damme (and he was hence free to make Bloodsport...his big break) and the rest is history..

It's impossible to overstate the impact this movie had on older millenials. Back in the late 90s, in high school football, we were all sitting around after two-a-days on the practice fields relaxing and trying not to melt when we heard the "tkttktkktoktktkkoktkt" sound of a woodpecker out in the forest. It was just distorted enough that we could all laugh, "Ha ha ha, imagine if that was a Predator, in the middle of Ohio?" What mirth. Then maybe six seconds went by and right as our laughter died down, a blood-freezing "TKTKTKTOCKKOTKKDKOTKDKK!!" rang out from the edge of the forest, like thirty yards away from us. Without missing a beat our captain went "That's a Predator," and we ran for the gym in terror. A couple of guys even left their pads, which I assume were confiscated as trophies. We went 8-2 that year and I'm still glad Shonk took charge in that moment or it might not have happened at all.

The reason Dutch survived being shot by the Predator is that the plasma bolt was deflected by his weapon. Just thought I'd mention this because many reactors have complained about this scene. Non-spoiler info: The film makers had seen Arnold be unstoppable, so they wondered what would make him truly terrified instead to show us something new. The lore of the Predator is pretty fascinating. Since this movie was made, there are several other beings in shows and movies with a similar premise. What none of the movies tell you, but lots of reading material told all of us between part 1 and 2, which is where you guys are at now, is that their species is a religious / ceremonious warrior race. They earn rank amongst their kind by killing difficult prey. They also value beings that make for difficult prey, so they would never want to kill all humans, or our young, or anything like that. They seek out the best of the best warriors of our race to hunt. Killing easy or defenseless prey is dishonorable. What I love the most is that he listens to our conversations and understands what we are saying via that translator that pops up on the left side. That's their written language apparently. So as it stalks it's target humans, it learns about which ones have a strong bond with others (for example) to use as psychological warfare. He chose when to make himself visible in front of Mac to confuse and mess with his head. Literally uses every kind of weapon possible... but ironically, all of it mirrors humans hunting animals. We use devices that mimic bird calls, camouflage, advanced technology, string them up once dead, carve them up, collect their bones, display them as trophies, etc... This movie might just be an anti-hunting for sport movie to sort of show us how we would like it. Also plays into how most ppl are always like "why is it doing this?" when they first see this movie. It's not for food, defense, or procreation.

I'm always surprised how many people say 'invisible' after we already know it's from space and is using cloaking technology. Watching it's 'dexterity' when using it's nail tip as a stylus on it's wrist mounted system is a detail that wasn't needed but much appreciated.

Arnold’s first film was Hercules in New York from 1969, in which he had no lines as he had an overdubbed voice actor replacing all of his dialogue. Over the next decade he appeared in a TV sitcom episode (I forget the name), ‘Stay Hungry’ with Jeff Bridges, and ‘The Villlain’ with Kirk Douglas. He gained a name outside of the bodybuilding world when the documentary ’Pumping Iron’ became a hit just ahead of the spandex era. After this, he quickly signed a movie deal with Dino De Laurentis and starred in the two Conan movies ‘Conan the Barbarian’ and ‘Conan The Destroyer’ which also starred Grace Jones. These films were mildly successful at the time and he followed this up with The Terminator in 1984, fifteen years after his first on-screen appearance. So while it’s fair to say that The Terminator was his breakout role, the success was definitely hard-earned over a lot of years. Also worth noting that Stallone, his main rival at the time, was charging double the salary and grossing double at the box office right up until the late 80s when Arnie finally caught up to him, in both regards.

Hey, Sam and Tristan! "Predator" is a Schwarzenegger action classic directed by John McTiernan, director of "Die Hard", "Die Hard with a Vengeance", "The Hunt for Red October", "Medicine Man", "The Thomas Crown Affair" remake and "The 13th Warrior".
The Schwarzenegger-accented "Get to the choppa!" became a popular catch-phrase that entered into the general lexicon.
The Predator species name is YAUTJA (YOWT-ja). They are interstellar sportsmen whose entire culture revolves around big game hunting. They test themselves against apex predators which often includes sentient beings like man. They have a code in that they do not kill the unarmed or the infirm as it is not challenging nor do they kill pregnant prey as a way of husbanding the livestock. If vanquished, they leave no trace of themselves behind by detonating a powerful bomb so as to leave the "preserve" pristine by not contaminating the indigenous culture with their technology. As a rite of passage, they must blood themselves by killing a xenomorph from the "Alien" series. If prey is worthy by offering good sport and defeating the hunter, the tribe will bestow the victor with a trophy.
There's a pretty good Predator fan film on YT set in the Middle Ages with knights called "Predator: Dark Ages" starring Adrian Bouchet (Steapa) from "The Last Kingdom"!
The movie is an alien variant of "The Most Dangerous Game", the Richard Connell short story from 1924 which has inspired countless man-hunting-man movies like "Hard Target", "The Naked Prey", "Race with the Devil", "Southern Comfort", "The Running Man", "Surviving the Game" and "Beyond the Reach".
The Central American guerrillas were probably Communists receiving supply and support from Russian advisors explaining the Soviet presence.
Billy faced off against the Predator alone because he would rather die fighting than running; it was a matter of honor. He drew first blood with his machete so that the Predator would not have the privilege. It's a Native American custom.
Anna was unarmed and, therefore, spared. Wounded Poncho was killed because he had already been marked as a combatant and was still holding a weapon.
The Predator released Dutch, took off its mask and fought him hand-to-hand because it considered Dutch to be worthwhile prey.
The Predator repeated Dutch's question back to him, "What the he!! are you?" as a way of expressing begrudging admiration for the puny meatbag that bested him.
The last laugh was the Predator's mimicry. It was using a recording of Billy's laughter at Hawkins' lewd joke to express a fatalistic defiance to Dutch.
Three of the cast went into politics! Schwarzenegger became Governor of California, former wrestler Jesse "The Body" Ventura, who played heavy-gunner Blaine, became Governor of Minnesota and Sonny Landham, who played tracker Billy, ran for Governor of Kentucky.
Jean Claude Van Damme was supposed to be the Predator originally but he had difficulty with the alien suit as initially designed and was considered too small in stature to be threatening!
Special Effects maestro Stan Winston was tasked with redesigning the alien to fit the 7'2" Kevin Peter Hall who appears, unmasked, as the helicopter pilot at the end. The dreds were inspired by a Rastafarian painting in producer Joel Silver's office and the mandibles were the contribution of a napkin sketch by director James Cameron who shared a flight and a brainstorming conversation with Winston by pure chance!
Danny Glover stars in the underrated urban-set "PREDATOR 2" which has some memorable set pieces and provides more lore! Dark Horse comics capitalized on crossing the Predator franchise with the Alien franchise inspiring Hollywood to make TWO crossover "ALIEN vs. PREDATOR" films with moderately successful to excellent results. They're fun and exciting guilty pleasures with the second one, "ALIENS vs. PREDATOR: REQUIEM", being particularly lean and mean. There is also a "PREDATORS" film produced by Robert Rodriguez that is definitely worth a look. "THE PREDATOR" (2018) REBOOT, however, should be approached with caution as it very nearly killed the franchise! The 18th-century set "PREY" is an excellent prequel to the original film which was released on Hulu. The Alien films have a RICHER SUBTEXT while the Predator films are more ACTION FARE but they're both fun sci-fi thrillers.

Guys, thanks for the reaction of your favorite classic, and, by the way, about this unique type of Predator's jaws, James Cameron specifically came up with their design when his friend, the master of practical effects Stan Winston (the author of the design of the creature itself), asked him to try to come up with his own version of the creature's face).

The blood that got sprayed/splattered onto Blaine, was the Skunk. It locked onto it as a target first, then shot it, and finally moved over to Blaine and got him.
And Billy cut himself across the chest, as a sign of disrespect... He denied the Predator the chance to draw first blood on him, by doing it himself. The Predator did NOT appreciate that 😂
Also also... The mud blocking his body heat IS a real thing. Corridor Crew did a TH-cam video with some of the dudes from The Unsubscribe Podcast (Eli, etc), and tried busting the myth, but they found it actually worked, and extremely well too.

Not sure about the skunk thing, but that is definitely an interesting perspective about Billy. I haven't heard that before. Most viewpoints have the Predator having respect for Billy's willingness to confront him.

    • @FilthTribeFTP
      @FilthTribeFTP 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

@dudermcdudeface3674 What do you mean by "not sure" regarding the skunk? Because that is legitimately what had happened. He saw the skunk, and when he turned away, the splatter of blood came and hit him from the exact direction of where the skunk had wondered in from. I mean, there is no other possible explanation. Where else would all that blood come from? If you remember, later in the movie, the Predator ALSO fires on that rat hiding under that log of wood, when he detects it's heat signature, right after passing Dutch undetected, covered in mud.
But yeah, I admit, the Billy thing is definitely speculative on my part. But that's how I had always heard it for many years... It seemed to make the most sense, because no other possible reason really does imo, and if he did it for no reason, thats even much more confusing. Also, the Predator didn't waste any time at all with Billy. On the contrary, you can see him actually show respect, when he finally fights Dutch hand to hand, after removing all his weapons. Sounded like Billy got the same Dual blade treatment that Dillon also got.

Once Arnold figures out the mud, now *he* is the invisible one and is stalking the alien until the right moment to strike. And how, by the end, even when physically disadvantaged, it's mankind that is the superior predator through our ability to adapt and improvise.
    Great movie.

And the movies that really defined his career were The Terminator in 1984, and Commando in 1985.

When Dillon and Mac team up together and try to box the predator in and kill him, the predator is actually setting them up. Remember he sees their heat so the predator knew where they were before Dillon and Mac found him. The predator let them see him then he went in to kill them.
He cleans the skulls because, like you said, they are his trophies.
The predator fought Dutch hand to hand in the end as a sign of respect. Out of that whole team of men Dutch was the last. Apparently that's a tradition or ritual or something. To go after a group of men or anything, kill them all and show the last one respect and fight it with no weapons.
The predator is not a bad guy. He's just like any other hunter. We are just another animal for him to hunt. We mount deer heads and ducks and whatever we kill (have you ever seen a deer's ass mounted with eyes and teeth or is that just a southern thing), he mounts the skulls of what he kills.
It's like Dutch said to Anna, "He didn't kill you because you weren't armed, no sport". The predator doesn't hate us or wants to destroy our planet. He's just a hunter, and it's human season.

Arnold already spoke english fluently in the 70's albeit with a heavy Austrian accent that he never really lost. You can see that in the movie "Pumping Iron" from 1977 (RECOMMEND. ITS SO GOOD). That was pretty much his introduction to the public at large. He was so charming and funny in that documentary that he started to get offered movie roles. So I don't think that's why he didn't have a lot of lines in The Terminator. I think the character was supposed to be an emotionless killer so you don't want to give it a bunch of lines to deliver.

**Fun Fact:** The idea of **Alien vs. Predator** actually started in the world of comics and video games long before the movies were made! In 1989, **Dark Horse Comics** released the first *Alien vs. Predator* comic, which became a fan favorite. The crossover proved so popular that it inspired arcade games, action figures, and eventually the 2004 movie-nearly 15 years after the concept first debuted. My take on this film is that this it the Predator's hunting vacation. Like some sickos choose to go on safari & hunt Lions or Tigers as they're the most dangerous bug cats, his species hunts humans as they are dangerous & resourceful but with its superior strength & technology, it's not TOO big a risk. There are other theories, but for me this one makes logical sense in narrative terms and is quite amusing to boot. There is no bigger stakes, like Arnie stopping an alien invasion of earth, he just has to survive.

It's also a very hot year and 'reptiles' prefer warm to hot climates. To use your theme, Predator dude didn't have time for a distant preferred hunt, but Earth was warm enough so it took a short trip for practice and wasn't up to speed on the prey's mental capacity to expose it's existence. It almost bit off more than it could chew and found itself unlucky at the end.

Another interesting possibility is that at the end, when the Predator self-destructs, he isn't trying to kill Dutch. He sets a countdown to allow him time to get away. A sign of respect to a fellow warrior. That said, the manic laughter sorta contradicts that idea.

Guys, just imagine being an Arnie fan in the 70s for his bodybuilding and then seeing him do a decent job in limited-line acting as the Terminator.... now... imagine seeing one of his mid-80s movies, this or Raw Deal or Commando, etc and to be a fan already but really see him start to bring the characters to life and not just be another muscle-guy trying to act. He broke through that type of casting (Hercules In New York) and even Cameron has stated that although he felt T1 really helped, Arnie would have broken past the barriers and become a big star anyway.
By the last few years of the 80s and into the 90s he had nailed it I mean Twins is hilarous, Total Recall is epic, he seemed only limited by typecast of action and huge-budget movie scripts.
Dutch is true to form and a very believable character, the charisma works into the plot instead of against it, such a good movie (and for the other actors, crew, sfx, music etc all into one great hit!)
