    Thank u girl :) I've only recently discovered this amazing channel! I'm ftm trans and have a total babyface, so I never thought I had any chance of passing pre-t, but ever since I've started watching ur videos and listening to your advice I've started passing a bunch of times and that makes me feel really really happy! AND THE BEST PART is that you don't make content like all these trans guys who tell you to just wear one specific article of clothing! Instead I can actually choose what styles of clothing I go for and how to make my wardrobe really reflect me as a person! I basically get to look really nice while still passing!!! Your channel is seriously a gold mine and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate everything you do! I love u :) Thank you!

    I find that the 14y boys section is the best place if ur short:
    1) It's cheaper.
    2) They are just a bit shorter so less fabric to tuck in.
    3) Since the shoulders fit a smaller frame better and the sleeves tend to like stick out, it makes the top look almost perky and geometric instead of slouchy. This kinda helps making your top half look like an inverted triangle which gives the impression that your hips are narrower.
    It definitely limits your colour selection but I personally like either blacks or primary colours like flashy blues and reds. You just need to watch out for the surprise fire truck designs or sneaky prints (I deff have a few of those that r just fun).

      I do the exact same thing, especially since I prefer the color and design options.
      I would most recommend checking out Target's Art Class brand (they have a lot of stuff that isn't stereotypically kiddie), JcPenney (they have husky sizes that fill in the gaps between the main ones), and The Children's Place (they have a lot of size and color options for jeans, chinos, and polos).

    Wow, as soon as you revealed there's a category of t-shirts called "boxy" I realized that's the cut of my favorite WOMEN'S shirts! They're naturally looser with longer sleeves and aren't tapered, shrunken and hideous like traditional women's t-shirts 😂I've been trying to recreate the boxy look by buying oversized shirts and cropping them into a square shape but like you pointed out you can lose some of the fit in the neck and shoulders that way (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't). Now that I know what to search for I can just buy boxy men's OR women's t-shirts without needing to modify; they look androgynous to me. Gap and Old Navy have A LOT of them! ❤️

  • @nullasalus3
    @nullasalus3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +59

    I definitely fall on the chubbier side of the spectrum. As someone else mentioned in the comments, when shirts fit me well in the shoulders, they are often too tight around my hips. But oversized is not a good look on me, in my opinion. I look sloppy, and not in a nonchalant, cool way.
    I've really liked the men's tees I've purchased from Buck Mason. They are more expensive than Gap or Uniqlo tees, so they might not fit everybody's budgets. But they are very comfortable and seem to get softer and better looking with wear. They also offer a short length (I'm 5'5"), which I think really makes the shirt fit my frame well.

I'm a bit young and trying to change my style to something a bit more andro, but my parents always wanna see what I buy and when I buy something more masculine they make me feel bad about it. Maybe you could make a video about styling women clothes in a more androgynous way? Thanks either way!

    my problem is they often have such a straight fit, even the boxier fits, that even when the shirt fits well on the shoulders, chest, and loosely in a good way on the waist it's weirdly tight on the hips, I have to size up bcus im cursed by my thicc badonkadonks

    • @Kebbythetraveler
      @Kebbythetraveler 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      bRUH SAME! I got height, shoulders, AND hips so even tho I've gotten good at picking shirts that fit well up top half the time my hips end up like road blocks even if the shirt IS long enough. After watching this I think going more fitted/stretchy OR more boxy/oversized would help me get around this. I like mid to high rise bottoms across the board so I might try hemming one of these problem shirts so it stops before my hips even tho my torso is long

    • @rosefox4245
      @rosefox4245 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Another thing you can do to work around this is cut slits up the side seams of the shirt for about 3-4 inches. This way the bottom of the shirt is loose and unless you're wearing really low-rise jeans the slits aren't going to make you show skin.
      Just cut up the sides and put in a couple of stitches at the top of each slit so it doesn't rip up any further.

    My rule of thumb is 1.5 size down from your size in women’s section. Would definitely recommend the boys section (size 12-14/XL) as the shoulders and length are usually a good fit.

    You're so right about the shoulder seam thing! I'm very thin, so it seems to make that point super prevalent on me. Also, for the same reason, some short sleeves will fall weird over my shoulders and make big triangle points shooting out my arms like I'm about to fly away.

    Can you do a vid for active wear? Including different body types? I’m always hiking with the pup or spending a couple hours at the barn and there is no way I could wear white or platform shoes, for example. I love techwear for hiking and things like RRL at the barn. As a bigger ‘female’ frame, however, it often feels hard to find things that work for me, fit an active lifestyle, and won’t get ruined in the normal mess and wear of an average day. I’m guessing parents of younger children can more than empathize. Among others...

    • @madeyoulooks
      @madeyoulooks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      ahhh i feel you, the only plus size active wear i've seen (with a large selection) is Asos and Target. Target is known to have some heavy hitters every now and then. activewear isn't something I'm SUPER knowledgeable about, i usually end up wearing sleep clothes to the gym. adidas has great super stretchy cycling shorts and stuff, but I'm thinking you're looking for something more substantial =/

  • @heythisisK
    @heythisisK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    On sizing: it may depend on your body type.
    I'm a medium in women's and an extra small in men's. My shoulders/arms are usually too big for women's shirts which means I have to size up in women's. I actually find men's xs fit better than women's medium because of this, even though I'm small/short.
    Also for reference I'm kind of an average build (not super athletic, big, or slim) and I go for slim cut men's tees. They tend to look regular on me - they don't hug my body at all but I'm also not swimming in them.
