Things you forgot to mention: The fence is hollow aluminum and deforms when you tighten it down. Those metal ribs on the table are of random widths because fuck measuring, that's why. The splitter has 3 positions; in-operable, useless, and not available. If you modify the fence and the splitter, the table saw can still be thrown in the trash. Don't be cheap. Spend the extra $$$ on the Hercules which is basically a Dewalt. The fingers you still have will thank you.
I wouldn't recommend using a table saw that isn't secured to a base. In this case, I suggest you could cut 3/4" plywood to the dimensions of the base top and secure it through the existing holes. Then, mount the table saw to the plywood using carriage bolts from the bottom and nuts and washers from the top.
I agree I have never used this on the stand, only on the ground. If I had the room in my garage I would secure it to something but since I rarely use it and I like to store it on shelf I haven't done it.
Great review! Not sure if you have ever seen the channel "Den of tools," but he has dubbed this table saw the "Finger slicer 2000." It looks incredibly dangerous, especially the unstable stand. You may want to consider a better used one or wait until a moderately priced table goes on sale. I use a Ridgid with the rolling stand that folds up. Great saw, and will serve my needs until I can afford either the Laguna Fusion 2 is the Saw Stop Contractor's saw Keep up the great reviews!
Yeah that thing is a piece. The Hercules rack and pinion or Skil ts6307 are worth their weight in gold over this saw. I'd use a hand saw over this till I could save enough for the Skil or the Hercules.
Ever notice how you never see Earl doing table saw reviews in the front yard at the trailer park with a cold Budweiser and a fire joint! Yeah give Earl hell but I bet you Earl can make some cool shit!
Looks just like my iron max and it did come with the stand, even a good little 10" table saw for home do er's. Just don't like the rip fence, the opposite end tends to very not parallel.
Use the table saw to cut a MDF table top larger than the opening of the table. Mount the newly created square top or rectangular board to give additional work space to the stand and saw. You can then bolt the saw to this board.
I have same one. For about four years now. I’m trying to add a few improvements. But the handle broke. Do you know where or how to get replacement? Or he’ll make one.
OK... Disregard my other comment. Many companies DO make/advertise for under $100. Good luck finding ONE! H. F. had none left, but one in back. Bought it.
@@waltsreviews90 It is working quite well. Thank you. I really wanted the Makita compact, but nobody had it in stores or online. Only complaint with Harbor Freight one I bought is the blade elevation crank is geared way low. 47 turns to raised or lower blade from all the way down, to all the way up. I discovered that Walmart had a different similar one in the store, after purchase.
My issue is I need 32 inches of cut. The only portable saw on the market that can do it is dewalt. Oh and it accepts a dado blade as well. Problem is its 500 dollars! Ugh....
If it doesn't need to be portable, you could make your own table and mount the saw to that so you would have as much space as you need? Otherwise you're right, you'll have to pay for those features in a portable saw.
No thanks. A janky rip fence AND a janky riving knife make this an extremely dangerous saw. If the wood being pushed through is not going through perfectly (and reliably) straight, the situation could be susceptible to kickback. For a "light" user who is not even aware of this phenomenon, they could be at even greater risk. This may be a inexpensive saw, but I'd take issue with it being a good value. Injuries can be extremely costly... on many levels. Durability and bells-and-whistles aren't the only reasons to look into a more expensive, reliable saw. Safety should be a prized consideration. If you're not familiar with kickback, Jonathan Katz-Moses recently posted a brilliant video about it and explains it very thoroughly. I'd recommend it to anyone operating, or thinking about operating, a table saw... ANY table saw. Please be careful out there.
Thanks for the review. Was looking at this in the store and everything about it screams cheap. I envision this being made in some shady Chinese factory. Waiting on the Hercules to go on sale, looks like a much higher quality tool made in a slightly less shady Chinese factory.
I have never been able to get the blade plumb. I can get it under a degree which is no problem for most projects. However recently it has become an issue. What has been your experience ?
Luckily mine didn't have that issue right out of the box, I have read what you are saying before, probably why its so cheap, just lot of variance coming out of the manufacturing facility, I think I just got really lucky. If you spend the time to take it apart (which I have not done) maybe the mechanism that hold the blade and allows it to be angled can be adjusted a degree, so then it will allow you to move all the way over to get you that little bit extra it is off by. Sorry wish I knew more and could help you.
Walt's Reviews I design and build sets for community theater groups. I try to show some craftsmanship in my work even though the lifespan is a matter of days. This little bugaboo has bothered me. Now, with an extra moment in setup I’m happy.
I have the Harbor Freight Warrior table saw with the same problem. I don't know about this saw, but the warrior has a big washer that hits the stop at the 90 degree mark. But the stop is off by about 1/2 ~ 1 degree. I ground down the washer on one side so now I am able to go slightly beyond the 90 degree mark. Now I have no problems with getting a straight cut.
I wouldn’t get this table saw, not at that price. The rip fence is garbage if you have to eyeball it to get it squared, and the cranks seem to me a cheap plastic. It is very powerful, but I think it is worth half the price. I would spend a little extra money and get a Ryobi table saw, which has a decent rip fence, folding stand, and good power. I have used that for a while, then made the decision to upgrade to a sawstop. The Ryobi is way better for value than the harbor freight saw, since the Ryobi RTS12 costs $20-30 more.
Ive only used this saw a few times and i can tell you right now its a piece of shit. The miter gauge gets stuck in the slots. the fence never lines up plumb. the safeguard is useless. The insert traps the wood because it like glued together huge kickback risk. Im considering not using it anymore because im afraid the blade will fly out of it and ninja star me in the forehead. Im just glad i took safety precautions as priority and learn how to handle table saws better before i use one again. I wont be using that thing im just going to get a quality one.
i found one of those in the trash. i used it to bring up on roofs when i’m trimming out dormers or when my other 2 table saws are in use and we need a 3rd i’ll pull it out. Its a complete piece of crap that has saved my ass a few times.
Get the amazingly inexpensive two or three-year warranty which doesn't kick in until store issued 90-day no-questions-asked return policy is finished. no hassle exchange, whether it's a manufacturer's fault or 100% your fault. Doesn't even have to be job-related. like, if you decided to chuck it down the stairs, fry the motor out by somehow connecting it to 220, or perhaps you shot it with a hunting rifle after owning it for 1100 days. Take it in and get a new machine. Plus, You might be able to purchase another warranty for that machine at a ridiculously low price. Harbor Freight offers the, no hassle warranty on all their power tools. And their Pittsburgh brand hand tools all come with a lifetime warranty, much like Craftsman or Kobalt issue with their tools, only at a fraction of the cost.
I have experienced kickback with this saw and I definitely would NOT recommend this saw to any weekend warriors or beginners. The rip fence feels so cheap and is a pain in the ass to get square. The riving knife will become so misaligned over time that it will interfere with your cuts and you will want to take it off. In my experience, it is extremely dangerous and not worth the couple hundred bucks you might save.
Dude give it up. It is a damn tool. A craftsman will make any tool work to their advantage. Blah blah blah. I have a 23 year old delta 10 inch that is my go to. Similar to this one you are trashing. I make precision cuts on site. Keeps me from going to the shop and using the best.
@@stitchthisditchthat259 table saw. I ended up getting one from Harbor Freight. Only one I could find locally. $149. Works great. Only complaint is that it takes way more turns of crank to raise/lower blade. Noticed Walmart has table saws too, and good price.
Lol, they have some pretty decent stuff and you never know till you try! Maybe more complex tools or machinery is not the best thing to buy from HF though :)

That rip fence is a deal breaker for me. If it's not ultra straight you may as well just rip with a circular saw and a straight edge

Motor is powerful enough. The fence sucks have to square it on both ends on every movement. Miter gauge might as well be in the trash
Based on the comments, the rip fence is definitely the biggest complaint on this.
For vinyl flooring this saw would be ok. Anything else I wouldn’t waste my money on it.
I think the hole's in the stand not lining up is because they are re-purposing the stand.

The stand is a universal stand, not made specifically for that saw. They've changed models several times and then stand has stayed the same.
