I'm 6', 200 lbs, 70 years young. I'm still in love with my Fat Bob 114. Tennis shoes, loafers, or boots, I've never had an issue with the foot pegs or position. Finding neutral is not always easy. On a stop with legs down, you gotta remember not to rest your right thigh on the valve cover. It will remind you in a few seconds on hot days. And it has a small gas tank. It handles road ridges and cracks better than my skinny-tired CVO Screamin' Eagle Deuce SE. If you want a sports bike, buy a Yamaha. I wouldn't take the FB 114 on a long trip, but 250-350 miles at a time is comfy.
I remeber always saying i would never own a harley but somehow I went from owing a 2012 zx10r to 9 years later purchasing a Fat Bob 114. At first I felt like I had made a mistake purchasing it , but after a week that all went away, and haven't had no regrets since. I will say I do notice the majority of people always want to compare it to sports bikes but that isn't the idea behind a bike like this. You just have to own one to understand why people become fans.

I just picked up a fat bob and have been riding sports bikes all my life. 100% you had a bad experience because of the riders you were with and the track they took you down. When you can actually give it some power and lean into the corners it comes to life. It is very sporty for a harley. I have been on other cruisers before and scraped pegs when i thought i taking it easy but i just came back from an hour and a half ride through the hills and didn’t scrape a peg or feel like it wasn’t happy in a corner once. Sure it’s doesn’t dip into the corner in the blink of an eye like my old zx10 or the naked bike i had just before. But for the significant comfort upgrade and cruise control i’m very happy with the purchase. I still get to have a sporty ride when i want it and i can go on a long cruise and relax my right arm without my speed going more than 1km over what i set it.
Honest review. I like. I bought one after 21 years on a Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird. New in 1998 the Blackbird was ten times the bike the Fatbob is in 2024. BUT...at 63 years old, the commute on the Bird hurt my wrists and arms. Great on the motorway, not so great in town. So, as my mate asked of the Fatbob, "Why did you buy that archaic piece of unreliable trash junk?" Well, it holds its value better than anything else on the road, since they made the engine a stressed member of the frame, it is 90% stiffer and, believe it or not, it actually handles and no hinge in the middle of the frame. So far, it has been reliable. It is as slow as paint drying and the brakes are almost adequate. The OEM tyres are truly awful. Buy Chromes for a revolutionary change to the handling. Buy mini riot boards to replace those stupid footpegs. Quality control is shite. Tighten everything regularly. They nearly all have bent handlebars from stock that don't line up (including the one in this video). The front fender WILL be out of line, the gas cap WILL rattle very soon. All these are ten minute DIY fixes. I know, I have done them all. Pluses are that every time you get on it, it is an occasion. One big needle and one speedo for all the old boys who can't see the stupid TFT screens without reading glasses that are no good for the road. Overall, big improvement on the old Dynas. I test rode a Dyna, had it for two hours, back at the dealer in 7 minutes. Awful. Overall, Fatbob M8 is a decent wagon. For a leisure/cruiser rider. Junk the UK spec towbar on the back that qualifies as the ugliest add on to any motorcycle, ever, and dump the stock pipes and you have a decent bar hopper that is a surprisingly comfortable commuter with wide bars for traffic negotiation and a decent slug of torque for low speed overtaking in traffic.
I have a 2022 and love this bike. To me was worth the money. People don’t forget you are Also paying for brand. At first it is different from other bikes. But you adapt to it and it’s an absolute joy to ride. I ride with my wife and we love it.

As an owner that upgraded from a rebel 500 to a 2019 114 Fat Bob I can say that the charm of harley will grow on you as an owner. These bikes are made to be owned, not just ridden.
I had almost the EXACT same reaction as you when I test rode one last summer at a demo day event (I was able to ride without "supervision" so speeds from 30 in town to XX on the interstate, ahem). I really like the looks of the bike and really wanted to love it, but it was like getting a beautiful apple that turns out to be mealy and bitter when you bite into it. The fueling and power delivery was very nice, but my feet went numb after about five miles and my 2007 VStar 1300 would eat it alive in the corners. Broke my heart a little...
1: I agree that we can read all the specs we want. They're all over the internet. Reviews that talk about the feel in a reasonable way that doesn't sound like sound bites from the manufacturer? Harder to come by. 2: Couch/freight train/mechanical? I get it. It makes perfect sense to me. Haven't been on a Fat Bob, but I can definitely pick up what you're putting down, there.

Thank you. Watched many reviews and you are the first person to call out the awkward foot pegs. Years ago I modified my cruiser from floor boards to forward pegs and I ultimately regretted it. Fighting nonstop to keep my legs on them. And mine were more forward than this stock Bob position. I still love FB and will see if I have the same experience as you
I think your test ride with the fatbob was too short but then again test rides are always short and leave you woth more questions. I took one out for 5 hours in city traffic and i enjoyed every minute of it. I found it very nimble despite looking very porky. Idk to each their own. But yes the seat of the fatbob is super comfy.
Hes not wrong its made for comfortable speed and a style of steering not for the over analyzer. The over analyzer prefers the precise availibity of sharp junt angles while being light and somehow solid and bouncey
I rode a fat Bob over the weekend and loved it. It’s definitely a fun bike for whipping around the city. You should Definitely ride it for a few hours. I had it for 2 days and enjoyed every second of it. I ride a street glide and I’d like to get a Fat Bob as a get up and go fun ride bike.
I missed this ride day. I've done others there. Can only assume i didn't open the email. I've nearly purchased a Fat Bob from this dealer, but the price scared me away.
I did a demo ride on a Fat Bob earlier this year and didn't like it at all. The Wide back tire and handlebars made it difficult to lean it in the corners. I thought the Road Glide Limited with full tour package was more nimble and easier to control. And I loved the Pan America special.
LOL, I am all too familiar with that demo ride route - that's the same exact route I took my Street Glide on when I bought it there. That "portable" speed camera has been there for YEARS - at least 3 ... I mean, maybe they move it, but that's the same spot I remember it being in. Also, the Harley demo rides, in my experience, have always been very tame... except my test ride with the salesman. He dusted me at every corner LOL. Good info on the Fat Bob - I figured with a 114 and less weight than my Glide, it'd handle better and pull pretty well, too bad it isn't more nimble. But, the seat & suspension must be better than what I've got [uncomfy and hard, respectively - and both are stock]. I engine brake a lot - the motor's built for it, and it probably has a slipper clutch like my bike :D Oh, and neutral always seems to be tough on a new Harley - they gotta wear in I guess. Crazy that the speed camera has been there so long, but they still use that as the demo route 😳 Oddly enough, I went on another demo ride right after this and heard them say, “Last one of the day, should we make it longer?” And that ride was almost double the length! And my GoPro shut off mid ride on that one 😅 The life of a TH-camr, am I right? Haha

[that's one reason I use a remote to film my videos - it tells me how many cameras are connected so I know if one has run out of juice] But yes, that camera uses that spot quite a lot - so even if it's not there all the time, it ain't worth risking it. I'm glad you got a longer ride later though, even if you didn't get to film the whole thing! FWIW, if you're out that way anyway, go look up Beaver Dam road. If you liked Springfield Road [where you saw the squiggly line sign and said the road was nice], you'll like Beaver Dam. Not only for the name, but also because of some of the curves and the trees - just watch out for potholes - and gravel at the one stop sign on the road.

Good for you to be able to test ride the Fat Bob. So it rides like a sofa with power. That’s what all big heavy bikes should ride like. It’s the price you pay for a Harley name that you you have to pay. Anyone can make payments on a bike. But you better be able to work on the Harley. I’d rather write a check for a Honda Rebel 500 or a 1100. Than make payments for a few years like a car that I can drive year round. Instead of a bike I’m lucky to ride 5 to 6 months out of the year ( Ohio) resident.
Agreed! Harley prices are crazy. The salesman tried selling me on a Road Glide ST and I was like listen…all 5 of my bikes AND my car combined, don’t cost as much as a Road Glide ST. I’ll happily pass on that! 😂
Swapped mine for a Beamer. Pegs in an Awkard position, bars too wide, so so handling, and had to deal with Harley culture (account executives pretending to be outlaws) . Not the worst bike but in hindsight not worth 20k+. The torque was what brought me in.
I test rode a fat bob at Laurel Harley aka old glory, I fell in love with the fat bob but I ended up going to Annapolis to buy it. Old glory is the worst dealership I’ve ever been to and I encourage any potential buyer to stay away from that place. Great video!

Check out my ride/review playlist in the description! I already did the Sportster S and actually didn’t care for it at all 😅 Surprisingly, everyone I know who’s ridden both the Sportster S and the new Nightster ALL preferred the Nightster leaps and bounds over the Sportster S, myself included.
The new Nightster is 100% the most direct comparison to the Rebel 1100 that Harley has. The Sportster 1200 is gonna be heavier, less tech, less agile, but more of the “Harley feel” if that makes sense.
I actually test rode the Lowrider ST right after riding this, but my GoPro shut off at some point during the ride and I didn’t notice until we got back 😭 Here’s the thing- I LOVED the Lowrider S and LOVED the Road Glide ST even more…but didn’t like the Lowrider ST at all! The fairing put my head in a weird air pocket that had wind noise BOOMING in my ears. It was unbearable over 40 mph. I don’t know if I just needed a taller screen or what, but it wasn’t fun.
One of the worst test drives I’ve had on a newer bike, nowhere near as good as the Rocket GT I brought after trying it, I felt it was like years behind the triumph in handling and power and it didn’t make me smile that much sorry.
I've ridden Harleys for 37 years. The old Dynas are the best. Would definitely like to have your thoughts on the new lowrider-s. Maybe next time. Time for a ride on the grom!! Good luck 👍

Had this bike for 2 years and got rid of it. Honestly, it handles ok for a HD but overall it's a lumbering dinosaur and in the wet it provides no confidence at all. For the price it's an assemblage of plastic and metal that'll rust and an engine that's lazy with little to no tech or rider aids. Never again.
Well, you picked the WORST handling Harley currently in the lineup to ride. It's really bad compared the other softballs. As a former salesman, I have ridden them all. Alot. And I steered customers away from that bike.

Trouble is you don’t know what the tire pressures are, or how the shocks are set up - which greatly affects the handling

I honestly don’t really care for any of the new solid mount softails compared to the rubber mounted touring platform. Road king is where it’s at 👌🏻
I’ll have to give the Road King a try at the next demo day! The Road Glide is more up my alley aesthetics wise, but it would be cool to compare 🤘🏻

The new Nightster is 100% the most direct comparison to the Rebel 1100 that Harley has. The Sportster 1200 is gonna be heavier, less tech, less agile, but more of the “Harley feel” if that makes sense.

I actually test rode the Lowrider ST right after riding this, but my GoPro shut off at some point during the ride and I didn’t notice until we got back 😭
Here’s the thing- I LOVED the Lowrider S and LOVED the Road Glide ST even more…but didn’t like the Lowrider ST at all! The fairing put my head in a weird air pocket that had wind noise BOOMING in my ears. It was unbearable over 40 mph. I don’t know if I just needed a taller screen or what, but it wasn’t fun.
One of the worst test drives I’ve had on a newer bike, nowhere near as good as the Rocket GT I brought after trying it, I felt it was like years behind the triumph in handling and power and it didn’t make me smile that much sorry.
I could be blind, but the sticker on the tank looks crooked.... Plus just terrible placement in general

I've ridden Harleys for 37 years. The old Dynas are the best. Would definitely like to have your thoughts on the new lowrider-s. Maybe next time.

Had this bike for 2 years and got rid of it. Honestly, it handles ok for a HD but overall it's a lumbering dinosaur and in the wet it provides no confidence at all. For the price it's an assemblage of plastic and metal that'll rust and an engine that's lazy with little to no tech or rider aids. Never again.

Well, you picked the WORST handling Harley currently in the lineup to ride. It's really bad compared the other softballs. As a former salesman, I have ridden them all. Alot. And I steered customers away from that bike.
