My question is, if Disney knew that kites landed that way WHY ON EARTH WOULD THEY LAND THEM IN THE AUDIENCE LIKE THAT!?! Why not have them crash backstage or something out of view? Also yeah the characters are just shy of T-posing through the air. WHO LET THIS HAPPEN!?
I guess because the River ampitheater doesn't have an actually backstage, since it was designed for a nighttime spectacular and not whatever this mess is.
Cannot wait for a video in 10 years that starts out with "Top 10 failed Disney Rides and Attractions" and Kite Tales places at a solid 3, right under Superstar Limo and LuminAria
I feel like if this show existed alongside Rivers of Light, then it would be received better as just being a fun little daytime show. But the fact this replaced a nighttime spectacular show at Animal Kingdom is why it’s considered so awful. Like at least Rivers of Light had a better budget and more effort into it, plus it was more themed around actual animals instead of just Disney IP’s.
Kitetails should be a night show. The jet ski wakes can be illuminated and take regulated precautions, the kites can be lit, the puppet performers can be added to stationary platforms at various depths from viewers, and extended use of illuminated fountains/mist would be a way to use imagination to the best they can at Animal Kingdom, for they can’t have fireworks.

I cannot believe that I was lucky enough to be begged to have a seat for this first showing on the 29th. if I hadn't seen the disney suits walking around, I wouldn't have stuck my nose in. truly blessed by this insanity.

In the performance I watched Young Simba crashed spectacularly. He went straight up in the air and then faceplanted hard into the water it was fantastic.
I mean, Tim's a nice guy who loves his wife and child and his videos are great. He also isn't jealous of others, making spiteful jabs as jokes. I would say that's good.
I feel like Disney just doesn’t care anymore because they know people will be obsessed with Disney regardless. They could have a “watch paint dry” show and as long as it was labelled Disney people would pay to see it.

I saw both shows today; they were GLORIOUS and I was laughing hysterically the whole time. Baby Simba's leg twisted so his foot was on upside down, Baloo crash-landed into the lake, and I could practically hear Zazu's pained screaming for the full show.
Oh this is a glorious disaster. Love it. I completely forgot about the animals from last year, those were great- what about those ? Holiday season rolls around “please do not pay attention to the giant bear stuck in the trees” please 😭
Ther should take a page from the ballagio hotel and do a beautiful day time fountain dance set to Disney music. In Vegas it’s stunning to see during the day and just as beautiful at night lit up. They could run it multiple times during the day just like the hotel.

I will say my opinion changed once I saw it in person. It helps that they do break it up and you catch one or the other versions because then you only are watching about a 10 minute show rather than a possible 20 minute show. The preshow is cute but as an "activation" as they call it, I don't think the length warrants waiting to watch it. It's a come as it starts kind of performance or stop and watch as you pass by, take a quick load off from walking around the park.
It seems like it would be better suited in some ways to be like the mountaineers at the Matterhorn… not really a “show” but yeah, something you could sit down and watch for a little while.

Just make mini versions of them (especially some of the puppets in the stands) and sell em. The jet ski debts will be cleared. Also those animal puppets from the holidays are AMAZING they should be doing that always.

I think Kite Tails is a cute side attraction for people to stop and look at for a few minutes but as a main attraction, it doesnt seem substantial enough.

At first, I was like "Dan, no you are being too hard on them! Someone dreamed this show up and people worked really hard on it!" Then I got about half way through the video, and I have to say I fully agree, this is not great.
I was there for one of the shows... the multi-kite stack of monkeys? Right into a rock. Top one just kinda got dragged along. These things are not going to last long. Also I'll be honest. I like kites. I would have really preferred just a big parade of smaller but colorful kites. It just one thing for too long isn't interesting and kites are much more interesting when they are swarming with all sorts of different designs and the like.
The new show does seem a bit underwhelming but hopefully they improve it to make it more exciting. But idk how kites can get anymore exciting as is. Also adult Simba scares me

Anyone who defends Disney and praises the chambles the pitiful excuse that is their theme parks isn't doing anything to help the situation. The only way to get Disney to improve is to hit their pockets...and hard. Don't go, don't buy the merch and surely if you do go, don't pay extra to ride attractions that you've already paid a premium admission price to ride (that is if the transportation system doesn't break down and leave you trapped mid air to even get to the parks.)

Alright the idea was stupid you can't control the wind and most of the kites look a little derpy but you cannot deny that watching the nose dives is funny Hilarious
