    Thanks for translating this!!! I'm so excited for both JP and EN cross interaction!!!! AA warms my heart!!! Funny enough, I'm pretty sure Arya is usually up around normal JP hours anyways, so it's funny that Qpi thinks they're gonna have a tough time coordinating haha

    4:01 I like how this applies to Japanese people trying to speak English and English people trying to speak Japanese.
    We each think the other is cute but to ourselves we feel self-conscious 😂.
    Happy to hear they get along great despite the language barrier, hoping they keep getting closer! Thanks for the clip! I love Qpi man ❤👌🏿
    Also welcome back, hope youve been well 🙏🏿

    I think Qpi downplays how much english she actually understand. Idk if it's anxiety or what, but when she played Rig cup with RPR and Nazuna a couple of years ago, her english was very good. She seemed to understand everything (even translating correctly to Nazuna) and her pronunciation was fine

      I've heard that in Japan they learn English in school but a lot of them are still shy when it comes to speaking to English

    • @IAmNonCreative
      @IAmNonCreative หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@Skelyos tbf, Japan doesn't really have the best English learning system. Maybe it's the set curriculum that the school has the English teacher (from a English-speaking country) go by, but it's night and day if you compare it with South Korea.

      I wouldn’t say so. In my experience, most Japanese streamers are right about their level of English.
      The biggest reason most streamers’ JP or EN ability doesn’t improve is that they don’t consume native content to build a large useful vocabulary and construct an idea of what their target language is supposed to sound like which makes it much easier to understand and speak. For example, you could watch a Japanese streamer play Apex for 10 minutes and learn all the callouts Arya asked Qpi for. This way is far more efficient and doesn’t require another person.
      This is the difference between rpr and a lot of streamers and it shows. You can tell that he’s built his vocabulary from the streamers around him. He still makes mistakes like confusing verbs like 持つ and 待つ or いる and ある but these aren’t mistakes that would stop anyone from understanding him. He immerses himself and is rewarded with ability rapidly. I feel like his mistakes will work themselves out as he gets more input.
      A lot of people think Japanese people just need to speak and I couldn’t disagree more. I’ve assisted in and led my own eikaiwa classes and feel like a lot of Japanese people have the opposite problem. They think that if they just speak enough without addressing the input problem, their English will improve. It won’t and it’s an expensive confidence destroying experience.

      @@AdeledClips to be honest i think the idea that output will somehow help your comprehension is quite common and not just amongst japanese people, i've seen it a lot in japanese _learners_ . and because there are people who have learned languages by focusing on speaking it gives false confirmation to this idea. so honestly i hope more people see this comment so they don't waste their time. i went to the comments as soon as i heard 6:55 to see if anyone was going to point out that while there are success stories of reaching fluency from primarily output (like the mentioned tsuna and cpt) it is definitely not the only way, nor the best way

    It's a balancing act between knowledge, comfort, and confidence. Qpi's clearly got the first 2 down if she can listen and translate in her head with relative accuracy. But that's already more than enough to make friends in EN. All that's left are the opportunities.

    Qpi only needs confidence. Her english pronunciation is already good, and non-jp viewers are quite supportive. I do get her being conscious in front of her jp viewers since some of them have shown to know some english too but I'm sure they're not that type.

  • @Qiel
    @Qiel หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Not trying to downplay her English skills but the reason why Arya could understand 90% of what she's saying might be because she's only saying stuff she's 100% confident in. Unlikely though, given they spoke for 5 hours and that it's Arya giving the assessment. Props to the both of them.
