10 years ago I used to watch Phil on TH-cam. He was the only person that could play those Jerry Reed tunes, no one else even came close. Good to see he's still pickin. He was good back then but now he's really nailed down the fine details.
Jerry Reed helped popularize the gut string guitar in Nashville....I think because Chet told him he should stick with it. There were probably hundreds of guys playing D28 Martins in Nashville at the time.
Scarecrow !! YES!! One of my all-time favorite Chet tunes. He played it so smooth and got a great tone on the album it appeared on. Thx Phil. 👍

Phil is super good. He can play just about anything.
Nylon-strung guitar. Interesting.
I think it is a Baldwin 801 CP, as the guitar of Jerry Reed, but not cutaway

Richard Smith is the best thumb picker in Nashville right now. Phil is good, but not the level of Richard. Mind you Richard is also CGP. !!!
I’m sure Phil could’ve been one too, if he was able to hang around those fellers.
Richard is definitely one of the best in the world, but he was never given the title of CGP. Phil is fantastic too for sure!!
Richard is definitely world class to say the least; however, he was never given the title of CGP
@@joehudson8264 hmm? not CGP? that's odd. RU sure. Who then received the CGP. Besides Paul Yandel, Tommy Emmanuel, Steve Warner?
@mosrite60 John Knowles & Jerry Reed. Richard is without a doubt one of the best alive for sure!
