Ikr, I was very intrigued by that little bit of historical accuracy. It made me more curious as to where the show was going. I've never read the books so I had no clue. Lol
I love the book sooo much! Sheen and Tennant are PERFECT as Aziraphale and Crowley. And they were extremely faithful to the book. I loved it! The only bits i was sad they left out from the book were the Hells Angel's and the televangelist. Those bits were extremely funny in the book.
@@unicyclist97 in exchange we got the *spoiler probably* half hour deep dive into the history of Aziraphale and Crowley's relationship, and I'm pretty okay with that trade off.
It is even better after you've read the book. There are a lot of references that Neil Gaiman left in the show that are unexplained (like all the Queen songs), for the book readers.
I read the book after watching the show and it honestly helped me follow the books narrative, which i found somewhat confusing at times (that may have been the fault of the audiobook) experiencing both definitely enhances the enjoyment you get out of the book and the series and i'm very glad to have watched it, since i might not have picked up the book until ages later, otherwise
Jackie Martin Definitely true! While I love the series for adding some new world-building stuff, a lot of the side characters are better expanded upon in the book. 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
The thing that I like about their setup in this show is that they knew how complicated it was - like, this entire first episode is basically the first 30 pages of the book, or something, it takes up so little space but it’s SO IMPORTANT :))) loved your reaction 😂😂
We completely agree, the setup is so important to the rest of the story. I also love that after the first episode they dont waste anytime getting into the nitty-gritty. Overall, so amazing. -Lofi
I love the amount of detailed thought that went into this show. Even though half the time I forget the proper pronunciation, so I end up just switching back and forth hoping I get it right most of the time. -Lofi
A nice little detail: The scene where Crowley and Aziraphael discuss killing the boy is set in the Crystal Palace Gardens. The sculptures in the background were what they thought dinosaurs looked like then, based on incomplete fossils- in fact they were the first dinosaur sculptures ever displayed. Its a really great reference- in addition to the obvious jokes about dinosaurs and Biblical Creationism, they're a metaphor for God's ineffable plan. People thought that's what dinosaurs looked like because they could only see pieces of the whole picture, just like the angels and demons think they are following the Plan but are only seeing part of it. I don't know if it was intentional, but it really works.
I don't think I've ever watched the Omen from 1976. I'm going to need to watch it and rewatch episode 1. Maybe I can convince Jinxie to watch it with me, but she is not a big horror fan. -Lofi
There is also a neat Doctor Who connection with the tenth doctor David Tennant starring in "Good Omens" and the second doctor Patrick Troughton having a fairly major role as the priest Father Brennan in the 1976 "The Omen" film.
Fun reaction! I think they've really done justice to the story so far. Neil Gaiman had a rather active hand in this, and that has, over all, given me great confidence.
This was a really charming reaction, I really enjoyed it! :D Definitely going to check out more of your stuff as well as your continued journey through Good Omens, something that has become one of my new favourite tv shows.
The show was the first time I had heard of Good Omens too. I recently bought the audio version of the book (bad eyesight) and I love how they introduce the basis of the story and the characters in a way that's not confusing or intimidating to new folks like me. I was familiar with a few of Terry Pratchett's and Neil Gaiman's books but never knew that they had written books together until now. I love these geniuses and the show's cast/crew are brilliant 💕💕💕💕👍
I love this show so much, I read the book when I heard they were making the TV show and I love them both. I think that you should definitely read the book as some quite funny parts are left out of the show and it is really well written.

It's not that I don't like sushi, it's that i'm spectacularly allergic to seafood! While i've been told repeatedly that chicken teriyaki sushi isn't 'right', it's still yummy. And not fish.
We have seen most of the reboot of Doctor Who. Well, I haven't had a chance to watch the newest Doctor yet and Jinxie is still only partway through Matt Smith. So not all of it. I would totally be down to rewatch them though as it's been a few years since I've watched it in full. -Lofi
Cool likeable reaction to one of the best shows I've watched in a long time! Instantly liked & subscribed even before you said it!:D BTW Defnitely check out the original Omen movie because half of this episode is basically a parody of that!
Why does every reactor or team of reactors mess up Crowley's name, at least at first? People, if it's that confusing, LISTEN to how THIS CHARACTER or the characters who know him pronounce his name! It's not that hard! Geez! And btw, sushi IS gross. You can have ALL of my sushi forever. (Sorry, my laptop is acting up and I'm grumpy today, ignore me. About sushi, not Crowley's name.)
According to a footnote in the book, the third baby did indeed get adopted and things were fine for him, so rest easy. :)
He even won prizes for his tropical fishes. We do see the boy in the book, he's the leader of Them's rival gang.

I re-read the book before watching, and it is incredibly accurate and fun. The odd thing dropped here and there but genuinely a triumph.

I always wanted a big dog, but I don't want to clean up after a big dog does their business, so I'm satisfied with my 5 pound Pomeranian, lol.

What did happen to the third baby?
He actually did win awards for his tropical fish!
The book confirms that he's Adam's gang rival Greasy Johnson who went on to win multiple prizes for his tropical fish

In the book, he also lives in Tadfield and is part of the Them's rival gang (but they don't really play a major role)
