I love your attention to detail with everything you do. Most people wont spend that much time making something right before they sell it. You are a stand up dude that cares about his reputation over making an extra buck here and there.
I have a 2.7 I was working on fixing currently... Timing chain went through the valve covers at like 242 I think it was ? It was super super clean on the inside. I owned it since around 170 or so ? I just realized I probably need to swap the valves because im not a car guy and didn't understand. I have everything back in place too I just needed to put it all together and now im going to have to take it apart again won't I ? 😭
I am lying here with a crook back, thinking your engine stand is too low for you. If you have ever had a sore back, you would realise the need to be standing more uprigjt when working on your engines. Definitely something to consider. Cheers, Keith.
actually, FYI, the marks on the crankshaft, when lined up puts the assembly at something like 30 degrees AFTER TDC, because that's a position where the valve train can freely rotate without colliding with any of the pistons. Thinking that it's TDC could be confusing for someone who tries to set the timing by piston position and wondering why they can't line up the crankshaft marks (and could be especially bad if they decide to BELIEVE the piston position OVER the crankshaft marks)
Awesome job. I would love to see you do the same to a Hemi engine. I was going to buy an srt8 with head gasket issue and wanted to do timing as well but backed out because thought it would be too much to do. Thanks for the vid.
I am in the process of rebuilding a 2.7 from an 08 Magnum. Do you have any place that you can reccomend for the timing setting and torque specs? I saw what you did just a little more detailed. or if you can communicate it to me. Thanks.
The 2.7 was such a crap motor I can't fathom why anyone would spend $2K on one instead of doing a 3.5 swap. Having said that, you did a good job on this rebuild Dave, hope you sell it quickly and the new owner enjoys it.
I didn't hear you mention it in the video so I hope you used new torque to yeild bolts. Whenever a torque spec says x amount of foot pounds plus y# degrees it's an indication that the bolts are torque to yeild and they cannot be reused. If you did reuse those bolts I recomend you take the engine apart and replace them with new torque to yeild bolts.
Hey Dave - it would be good to break up content for more frequent updates no ? This covers a full build maybe you could have an episode breaking down and showing us what you see , then one or more for the rebuild ?
Do oil changes every 3000 miles and change the water pump and the complete timing chain assembly with guides every 60,000 to 85,000 miles. The engine is so smooth, a joy to drive!
Yeah this engine has a poor design but its a good rebuild . Put on a oil catch can from billet technology you will never see any sludge and it will run cherry a long long time .
When editing your videos, can you cut when you finish your sentence. So many times you cut where your mind sentence and we don't get the full understanding of what your explaining. I love the videos but just the finer details is missing sometimes. Cheers mate.
It's a 2.7 engine - it's not worth spending money on it. They're garbage engines plagues with oil sludge issues. Now if it was a 3.5 it might be worth it. Save your money for another project - especially when someone else has already been in that engine.
First?

And if you have a Chrysler 2.7 liter engine with 150,000 or more miles you should be in the automotive hall of fame!
On my way... Mine has over 130,000 miles on it. First owner of a 2002 model year.

I'm at 278,000 on my 07 dodge magnum
At least the new owner will have a decent engine.......nice job.
That's wassup we have a brand new 2.7 in the back of the shop and we bent the valves
Love the idea of saving that engine. If someone wanted to buy it , they wont have worry if its good engine or not ... 👍😎👍
plus a fresh rebuilt is worth a lot more then a regular used junkyard engine.
You just saved that engines life!
The mustang needs a wash again lol
Great engine rescue! Was kinda weird to see the Mustang dirty again and then get clean during the duration of the video lol. Take care.

🤞engine is good

Nice you made that look easy, and easy money 👍
Thank you for this
Main problems with them 2.7s are timing chain tensioners
nice work
Run open headers on that little engine

You and Trevor should colab some more again. Just look at the Supra. Maybe he can help you with the Charger wagon build
Is there a reason you don't take off the alt bracket
When that engine is on the timing marks it's actually 30 after tdc
Does it have to be at that or the top dead center with cylinder 1 and 4 on top ?

Really liked This one. Educative at least. Way bether than destroy it... i think... regartheless, congrats! Really enjoyed it!

my engine has bent valve. what you suggest is ignore the timing mark on the new chain??? then what should I rely on?

Best fix for a 2.7 is a Hemi swap
Or atleast a 3.5
I should have thought you already had 6 spare straight inlet valves you can fit - from the "dry" engine ?
This is exactly what I'm looking to have done on my 07' 2.7 charger, how can we make that happen?
I have a 2.7 L motor that I would like to have rebuilt. How can I contact you?
I don't really do rebuilds I would just take it to a local machine shop
I suggest that whenever you speed up the video add background music so the video doesn't seem boring 🤗
HI DAVE why r these engines expensive?
I hope you sell that engine looks like it could lasts a long time now 👍🏼
How much does you charge to rebuild A 2.7 engine
I Plan On Rebuilding My chrysler 300 2.7 Engine What Do you Recommend
This isnt your usual garage that you just redid the floor in, do you have multiple garages?
Karine M this is the junkyard garage not his
oh! ok

😳 axle grease
How much for the engine?
why no music in time lapse??
What do you intend to put that 2.7L into? Dune Buggy?Mini Truck? Boat????
To someone elses hand for $1500-$2000.
Did you even watch the video? He is selling it.
@@slim56 Yes I did, I didnt hear he was selling it. Thanks
Dave vs trevor and ty no rules cage match 2020 youtube payperview 😂😂😂
I got a 05 2.7 magnum and have heard bad things about the engine.. are they really that bad ?

My God that stupid plastic thermostat housing. I've changed it at least 3 times on my charger.
Dave, what are you going to do when you hit 100k subs?
IDK never gonna happen lol

Way too complicated < I hope who ever had this car before you sees this video !
This engine seam's like a bad design for most people.

worst engine ever
