Mind boggling how Medieval architects, craftsmen and labourers managed to create such awe-inspiring work. Blows my mind. But even that's not as incredible as turning down a pudding! Literally never seen anything like it! Safe and happy travels to you both x
Ken, I am amazed and impressed with your willpower in turning back most of your smaller half of the cake. Keep that up and you will once again be svelte.
A classic quote ' Once you've sinn a bit if old Masonry you've sinn it' great Ken!😂 glad you left room for the kebab after the crepe 😆👍& then later the lovely cake 🎂 food is there to be enjoyed.one of lifes great pleasure 😀 excellent vlog as always you two.. Keep up the great work 👍
“Can you keep the bloomin thing still, I keep trying to focus on it and you keep moving it” 😂😂. The crypt looked really interesting, the crepes didn’t look over-filling, and the coffee WAY too small to be large hehe. The foggy drive will have taken some concentration! Another great video. 😊👍
Ken : you have forever CEMENTED in my mind the boredom of viewing " a bit of old masonry " you guys always provide a chuckle ,,thanks cherryl from Canada
Hi Carol & Ken. I stumbled upon you videos some time ago and have enjoyed all the footage you guys produce. The photography is superb as is the choice of music and your friendly nature shines through. Long may your trips continue. Kind regards and thanks, Wee Jimmy.
Hari OM I think that entry fee was indeed a bargain and all those painted walls and ceilings are what interested me. The masonry, yeah well, I tend to agree, Ken. Having an active service to give the basilica context was special. And I would have that tart - looked a little like a Bakewell...mmmmmmmm..... YAM xx
The crypt was interesting. When you have seen a bit of masonry 🤣. Crepes looked good. Shame about the Basilica being covered up. Two nice park ups. That cake I would call Chammy. Not do good but glad Carol liked it. Nice vlog chaos. 👍🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️
Wow you both never disappoint with your travelogues…thank you for the hard work, dedication and commitment, every week. I so look forward to your vlogs . Definitely the best on you tube …. thank you Carol and Ken - a-maz-ing….keep up the great work.
Another great video, I just figured out why I’m hooked on your videos I share the same love of history and food. Thanks for sharing your life with us its a breath of fresh air to watch.
Another great video, me and my wife are going full time in the van next Friday and heading into Europe 1st December. After 22 years in the Army i’m pleased to be able to say I’ve taken some great tips off you.
Well if our experiences have helped I am pleased to hear it. How do you feel about leaving, it’s quite a culture change I imagine. Enjoy your full time travels. Will you be filming it ? Looks like you did a bit with the videos on your channel 👍
Feels a bit strange leaving however the house is rented out so we can always return. We are going to try a bit of vlogging now and then, we’ll see if that’s us or not.
Carol definitely had the best choice of crepe. Basilica looked amazing and shame you didn't get to film that fort that you drove by, we know what that's like but you can't get everything and always something else down the road 👍
Great Vlog Carol & Ken, that CRYPT @420 feet long wow.😮😮 I could never get full on sweet things, though Carol's CREPE looked delicious. I was always very much afraid of fog on the Motorways. Always pulled in for a while or went off to an A Road. I had seen a couple of pileups during fogs in the U.K so I got very weary of them. Looks like a nice park up for the night.
No she is very good at sharing. She has to put up with me saying I don’t want anything in the shop as I am ‘being good’ only for me to double cross the deal 😁👍
Always looking forward to seeing your Friday upload👍. The crepes looked delicious. Probably I'd take a savoury first and end with a sweet one😅. This is off topic, but I wanted to thank you that you always take your time to reply to my comments, it's lovely 🙏. Best wishes
I thought the crypts were interesting but like you, when you said you were going into some crypts I expected something different. Carol, do you speak French fluently? Thanks for another great tour of a little piece of France. Mary
Hi Mary. I enjoyed studying French at school and have taken it up again since we went there in 2020. I can probably get by but am nowhere near fluent yet. I keep practicing every day so will hopefully get better. Take care, Carol x
I love crepes with Nutella and strawberries. The crypt didn't look like the usual kind of crypt,it wasn't what I was expecting. It's nice to go along with you both on your journeys and enjoy the banter between you both. I would have had both crepes savoury followed by the sweet one. 😋 My brother in law would have left long ago 😉 XX ❤️💙
Hi guys, yesterday I was thinking about you. I took a Lyft and it was a Nissan NV200 just like yours and I was wondering how on Earth you are able to live in such a small space. I was trying to figure out the pulling bed and the area for the kitchen and sink and it is actually very small. I admire you guys more after my experience. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us
As you have seen our van is much smaller than it looks on screen The wide angle lens makes it look bigger. Swivelling the front seat helps a lot though 👍
At 9:35 I swear that green American Mustang in Carol’s background is the same car I saw in Lyon three years ago… Thanks for another interesting visit to France, your adventures are very entertaining.
Now Ken, Carol gives you half her cake and you didn't like it. I think it was a case of "eyes bigger than your belly " or the fact that earlier you had a big kebab 🤣🤣 great watch guys. Thank you.
Other than a quick visit to Leclerc and Flunch last month, we've not been to Boulogne for five or more years. I first started visiting forty years ago in the days of the hovercraft, later on the Speedferries catamaran. We found that the restaurants nearer the top of the hill we good for an inexpensive evening seafood meal. Is there still a garden at the bottom of the hill, with old cars half buried into the ground, others with plants and trees growing out of them? Are you heading to La Coupole next?
Didn’t see the cars. I remember those huge hovercraft. We don’t do La Couple in this trip but we do it on the way back from Norway 👍 I had to edit this as I was getting confused with my own videos. Yes La Couple is next 🙄😁👍
I think it would be a sweet alcoholic crepe for me can’t imagine a savoury one …. Crepe and Kebab sounds good … No camper cars is a very specific sign Great vlog guys thanks for taking time to create and share ….. Did I hear Ken is done with food lol nooooooooo
Sent my family out to the woods n fields to bow hunt. Told them I took my last package of venison bacon out of freezer. Told them to be sure they don’t come back empty handed as I’m not interested in eating crickets🤢
Very imaginative title. I hope the cat didn't follow you in, I'm reliably informed that last time he was sort of true to your title. sorry not sorry. Incidentally that tune at the end is one of my favourite Christmas Carols.
I must say I find it is quite difficult to find at random a restaurant which does not desappoint : poor service and above all poor quality of the products , when the cook is acceptable... The cript is interesting presenting coloured parts dating from the Middle Age. We forgot that churches and cathedrals, besides their shapes and sculptures, were full of colours, dramatically different from the sad and dull uniformity of their today aspect.
Your vids are so natural..no falseness..as it is:great company and relaxing..,thanks carol n Ken.🇬🇧
We don’t have the energy to fake it. That takes a lot of effort. 😁👍
Thank you for playing, Emmanuel, at the end. That was so beautiful. I love hearing and singing this song. 👍 👍 👍
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂

Yes that was a bit extreme and it should have had a trigger warning 😁👍

Many years ago we had the most wonderful pear ice cream in Boulogne. We have never been able to find anything like it since
Carol you are my new guru your quiet presence brings peace to my soul. Ken you are a lucky man I wouldn’t share my cake 😂

Nice video, I thought the crypts might be creepier, but it’s close to Halloween 😱

Not a usual crypt but interesting anyway. More like a museum. And then the rain set in.

Yes Rupert, fog is often underestimated by drivers. I have seen the results of that and its why I will get off a motorway asap if that comes down.
I get the impression that Carol doesn’t like overly sharing her yummy food treats 🤣x
