it is impressive how strong the dragon ball community was even during a period when there was almost no official DB content beside the occasional videogames every 3 or so years, no wonder why shueisha had dollar signs in their eyes when toriyama decided to create new DB stuff again lol

HONESTLY a Tenkaichi 3 HD remaster would've been a godsend for me at that time, tenkaichi 3 on wii was notoriously hard for me to get at retail as they stopped production pretty quickly cause around the early 2010s I've never seen it at retail but I did have a PS3 and the closest thing to Tenkaichi 3 was the raging blast games but honestly would've rather had BT3 so childhood me was pissed when that this never happened.
YES! I remember my friend and I were struggling to get any version iteration of the BT series in late ‘09. Not sure how he got his for the Wii, but I managed to get mine from a game store that barely anyone visited.
Sadly there will prob never be a BT3 remaster, because apparently they lost the source files to files to even do it…
Happy this showed up in my recommendations, especially since 2009-2012 were the most nostalgic years for me to be a dragon ball fan during that time

Thanks! I’m considering something like that for the 2000s, but it might be hard for me to cover everything considering I really became a DBZ fan in 2009. So a lot of that video won’t be as in depth as compared to this. But never say never though

Super (SAI)-yan is the phonetically correct way to pronounce the word.
Also the EU version of Budokai 1 never had an English dub. It was always English subbed. November 2nd 2002 is the correct release date (for Europe), but that version didn't have English voices. It wasn't until December 3rd 2002 when the game was brought to America where they dubbed it in English.
Ahh that makes a lot of sense. I never owned Budokai 1 or Budokai 3 on PS2 until recently (just to add to my collection). But still such a weird decision choice for a HD remaster
Every now and then, I do think back to those times. Even Absalon brings back profound memories for me.

just found this video series, it's really interesting to remember what the "dark ages" of dragon ball were like, recaps like this also help a lot in showing people who got into dragon ball through things like abridged or super what things used to be like before abridged exploded in popularity around this time and battle of gods came out
the original broadcast of kai went out like a wet fart, having ended prematurely with the android saga and the final episode didn't even air on TV in the US, it was exclusive to nicktoons's website for a time, and you could tell that toei had barely any interest in continuing it, even the buu saga was only originally planned to be developed solely for the overseas market because of kai's terrible ratings and sales in japan, there was no true spark of popularity for this franchise again outside of abridged until battle of gods was released
things were really rough for old dragon ball fans, hoshi especially is one of the most obnoxious things from this era because every few months people would say that it's coming any day now using new footage they took from the heroes trailers, I remember people even using the dragon ball online promotional trailers as "footage" of the series, it's similar to what people do now with the fake news about the super anime returning, but hoshi never had any actual ground to stand on for people to actually believe in it outside of desperation for new content
Hoshi was one of the most obnoxious things that was in my recommended back then. I’m glad that social media has evolved to a point where we can debunk things like this

@@BuckingBeasts The BT series didn't have a Japanese dub with English subs unless you got your hands on a fan translation sadly. So i think getting something close to the Anime experience is better honestly

For an English focused audience, it’s pronounced “Super Say-in” - and considering that this ad is for Western audiences, someone should’ve directed the narrator in how it’s usually said - but it shows how rushed/cash grabby they were with getting this ad and game over and done with

2012 was a pretty good year, I think everything went to shit after that honestly, especially music, and then Sandy Hook and whatnot at the end of the year, just horrible. As far as TH-cam goes it was way past its prime though, 2006-2008 were peak.
