The reality of dating events is that the men who these women are truly going after, DON'T NEED dating events or apps. Men with confidence, and 'assertiveness', and "game" can score dates easily. Either they're gonna keep playing the game into their 40s/50s (and when they settle down, they'll be going after younger, more traditional women) OR, they're already dating or married.
Simply put, the men they want, don't want them, and the men who want them, they don't want.
I would rather starve and freeze in the woods before going to an event like that… even as a 50 year old, that is so cringe I can’t even watch… participate?

First of all, as a guy, why would I go to something like that? It sounds like a bunch of desperate people looking for somebody to scale up. A PowerPoint presentation this is one of the most cringiest things I've ever heard people doing the dating scene. Nobody wants to go to a dating scene where it feels like work, where you're watching PowerPoint presentation in a freaking meeting, that you don't want to be there in the first place. So ridiculous, so pathetic. Really a powerpoint presentation that your friends will do for you, so you can scale up to some fat cat to live in there, Mansion or something that's what it sounds to me like. What is next? I'm glad there's still a real mall where I live. You can go there every weekend and its crowded with people walking around and hanging out. There's also a gaming arcade, a Main Event, and a skating rink. Then there are several parks and lakes, water parks, and several public swimming pools. A lot of better choices than a speed dating event.

Yes, apps offer a lot of things: variety, scale, convenience, but the real reason guys prefer apps is because they solve the fundamental problem of having to make the first move. The match is simultaneous. If these IRL singles events were serious about attracting men they would find a way to simulate that experience in real life with one-way mirrors or something.

These events were always attended by ppl over 40 with younger women not interested in meeting men outside a loud night club environment. Don't knock it otherwise. The world's changed for the better if fertile women now want to meet men outside loud smoky nightclubs. However if the event organizers actively try to stop people from talking with each other at the event, that's perverse
just makes more sense to not charge for anybody to get in but still charge for food/drinks. that would keep it fair. and keep the men showing up.
