Prayer...intercessory prayer...3hrs daily prayer...agonizing, travailing...after 5 months of interceding , and no more than 5 minutes of actual witnessing, my heathen, foul mouthed, perverted coworker said these words while holding back tears ; "Jesus come into my heart." God heard my earnest desperate prayer as I stood in the gap and I saw this man's soul become broken by the sword of His Spirit, God's Spirit broke him! Pray church!!!
Unfortunately the other comments here are not about the subject. Ravenhill's message is a about the need for more and effective prayer, and he gives a great example in David Brainerd who literally prayed his life out. In my old age I've become a warrior in prayer, but my knees are so worn out that I can't get on the floor to pray. Even so, if, as pastors, we wish to see the Spirit of God at work in our churches, we need to call the sheep to whom we are s sent to prayer. If, as evangelists, we want people to be born again, we must remember to establish discipleship as our primary means of effective evangelism, this is to be bathed in prayer at every moment. This is not done at the moment, but consistently letting the Spirit of God lead us to be faithful, reaching out, sharing the Truth of God's Word, touching the lives of the hearers, and as Jesus is seen through us, He will bring souls to repentance. Then, and only then, are they to become united with a good biblically based congregation. Under any circumstance, we must not be a twenty minute wonder, as Ravenhill described, but faithfully calling men to Christ. Three is so much more. Lord bless the faithful witness of faithful men, the prayerful testimony of prayer warriors, and wake the Church up to it's true mission goals, and methods. "He that hath an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the Churches."
Prolongued times of intercession and supplications and waiting on God to equip us to pray in the Spirit, is what we need. The Lord Jesus Christ prayed early morings before dawn and often right through the night
I know Finney was off and I dont agree with everything Wesley taught, but nonetheless, people were saved by Jesus Christ as they preached: the Holy Ghost conviction fell upon thousands, and he could have mentioned Jonathan Edwards, and George Whitefield as well. Im glad Edward Payson was mentioned. I just read "Innumerable, Monstrous Sins " which is a quite convicting sermon of his. The Word is like a fire, and a hammer that breaks the rock to pieces, as Yahweh revealed to Jeremiah.

@J the prodigal son was granted repentance by God. Repentance is granted to Gods elect. Have you ever read the promises of God in the new testament? The Lord Jesus Christ said he that believes on the Son of God Has everlasting life. If you have everlasting life it cannot end
Finney did indeed teach some form of semi-pelagianism. While reading his autobiography, I am convinced he was indeed born-again, but I wonder if he overreacted to the Calvinism of his contemporaries. It seems many Calvinists mistakenly use their doctrines of grace as an excuse NOT to pray and NOT to evangelize. I actually belong to such a congregation, but i am thinking of leaving because they have not desire to reach the lost, even in our local community.
Finney preached "pray this prayer" and you're good to go. He was the father of emotional manipulative so called altar calls. He was said to have repented on his deathbed saying I don't know if I had even one true born again convert.
@@jetdriver26When I had the gospel preached to me, I called upon the name of the Lord by faith. That was the day I got saved and I’ve been saved ever since.
This is who I want to be and this has set a fire in my soul thank you

Ravenhill had the formula. It is God working first in the church in revival before we go to work in the world in evangelism.
Revival breeds evangelism...oh how we’ve failed as the Church here in America...Lord Jesus help us...
While the church is looking for better methods, better machinery. God is looking for better men.
We need repentance and revival now more than ever! Send now revival! Do it again, Lord! Pray for revival!
Good luck with preachers today.
Prolongued times of intercession and supplications and waiting on God to equip us to pray in the Spirit, is what we need. The Lord Jesus Christ prayed early morings before dawn and often right through the night
Love Ravenhill.
Very good message. It would be much better without the music.
Amen
What is the Song of the video?
Why add a music recital to compete with essential teaching. Bizzarre!

PRAISE THE LORD GOD ALMACHTY
I don't read about last-day revivals in the Bible I read about last days apostasy!
Oh how I wish I was amongst these live instead of those I've been abandoned 2
why the irritating overpowering music?
Elija he prayed
That was his epithet.
Ravenhill spoke well on Charles Haddon Spurgeon............ ;)

Men not "live" sorry broken screen.
Sorry, Finney was a heretic.
Do you have something you could reference please?
Nonsense
John Wesley preached the false Armenian gospel. I don't care what he accomplished!!!!
so your god is a calvinist ?? 🤭
the twelve Apostles WEREN'T calvinist or arminians, they were Nazarene JEWS.
@J So does the Lord Jesus Christ. If He loses one that the Fathet gave to Him, He would have failed the Father. Perish the thought.
@J the prodigal son was granted repentance by God. Repentance is granted to Gods elect. Have you ever read the promises of God in the new testament? The Lord Jesus Christ said he that believes on the Son of God Has everlasting life. If you have everlasting life it cannot end
@J I totally believe that those who are saved will live a repentant life.
sounds like a gay man.
Charles Finney is actually teaching error, not all but most of it
Finney did indeed teach some form of semi-pelagianism. While reading his autobiography, I am convinced he was indeed born-again, but I wonder if he overreacted to the Calvinism of his contemporaries. Yet he was the most effective evAngelist in modern history. He kept 75% of his converts from backslidings.
Free will is biblical, predestination is not. Augustine was heretic and so was John Calvin.
Just read the bible I don't care about Charles Finney.
Yet he was the most effective Christian of his day. Jesus, Paul and john d Baptist preached repent or burn- just like Finney did.
Finney preached "pray this prayer" and you're good to go. He was the father of emotional manipulative so called altar calls. He was said to have repented on his deathbed saying I don't know if I had even one true born again convert.
Finney NEVER had a single altar call. You are bearing false witness.
@user-mg2oq1od2t I don't even believe in new testament...
