Because at most jobs, a face tattoo or blue-inked eyes is an automatic violation of company policy, not to mention a monumental obstacle to hurdle during the interview process at those positions that will even employ an individual with a face tattoo. • Best Examples of Job-S...

      @@dxjohncenacaz no, tattoos were not intended to shoot a middle finger at the establishment, maybe in modern history but originally many cultures such as Mayan, Egyptian, and Asian cultures used tattoos for more noble reasons than just trying to rebel. Face tattoos are still taboo it's just that there are other options for people who have face tattoos to have a legitimate career or a job. A person was basically bowing out of corporate America when they got a face tattoo but that's not the case now.

    • @johnv1684
      @johnv1684 6 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      Both actually. I run a company and although our culture is promoting tolerance and individuality in a friendly and creative environment, when it comes to tattoos and body modifications in general we have set specific standards. For example any type and size of face tattoo is a deal breaker. On the other hand full sleeves are acceptable unless there's a depiction of something offensive (like swear words, nazi symbols etc).

      What if someone had neck tattoos, or an earlobe tattoo? I'm just curious, because I'm considering getting a Q and a diamond tattooed on my earlobe, and I would like to work in an office eventually. (I'm going to uni for math and economics in the fall). I don't have any tattoos as of yet, and I don't plan on anything going over my collarbone if I do end up getting multiple tattoos. So, in your experience, would a small earlobe tattoo be a deal breaker for most companies?

    • @johnv1684
      @johnv1684 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +Delilah Fox Yes it could potentially be a deal breaker. However you'll have to take in account the size, type and location of the company, its policies and the position you're applying for. As a general rule of thumb the larger the company the more strict it'll be with staffing policies.
      In your field (corporate economics, accounts, financial planning etc) things are even stricter, so if you're planning to climb the corporate ladder working in larger companies, i would advise to avoid having any visible tattoos at least during your beginnings (internship +2 years experience).
      Play it safe i would say, if you're serious about your future career, otherwise you might miss on good opportunities.

      Hey Delilah, little story. In the early 1970s I was in grade school. A teacher asked the class when did blue jeans stop becoming a symbol of rebellion and start becoming a symbol of conformity? You have to consider at the time, everyone was supposed to dress in a business slacks and a button shirt, even in public schools. I think the question was lost on my classmates, but I understood what she was trying to say.
      My point in bringing this up? "Look, I got a tattoo. Now I'm a rebel, just like everybody else!" You don't have to wear rebelion, non-conformity on your sleeve, or your skin. Peace.

    The first rule I had when getting tattoos was "make sure they can be hidden under a t-shirt". Of course the new first rule is "you can't get tattoos because of the skin condition that makes them not heal and react badly to the ink". I've only seen maybe two face tattoos in the nearly five decades on this planet that actually looked good.

    i have a tattoo of a dollar sign on my hand (which is especially embarrassing cos i'm british), and i have tattoos on my fingers. got them done when i was 13 and 14 respectively. i totally regret them because it sends the wrong messages and makes people think im into all that 'gangsta' bollocks. it has caused a lot of difficulty in finding jobs, but luckily thats not a problem right now. but worst of all it has made me easilly recognisable. some of the people in this town refer to me just as "that bloke with the dollar sign tattoo" and so whenever people have a problem with me, they can easilly spot me in a crowd unless i have gloves on

    Eyes are regarded as the windows to one's soul. To blacken them, so the iris and pupil are nearly indistinguishable, makes one look like a demon. Getting face tattoos if you're a well-established tattooist or it's part of your Maori or Native American heritage is one thing; getting a shitty Nike icon or some 'hard' crap like 'devastate' will scar you for life.

What i think the guy was trying to say is that a tattoo supportive channel should not blame people for their choices, but try to make society accept us as we are (not talking about that racist one)
      This kind of content just support that common sense that tattooed people can't work on what average people work...

    • @thecaptain5026
      @thecaptain5026 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guilherme Buchner it's pretty simple, there is something messed up with you if you feel the need to put a needle with paint to your eye balls. People instantly reconice that there is something wrong with that person.
      Life is short, people who own a business don't have the time to hire someone with an obvious mental problem and give it a try when they can hire someone with normal eyeballs.
      It's not about accepting anything.
      You basically communicate to other people: I don't give a fuck. And people pick up on that message.

    I see the likes vs. dislikes are split right down the middle. It probably has something to do with the mixed signals the video sends perhaps inadvertently.
    The way the imagery is presented is a combination of super stylized artwork vs actual Job-Stopping tattoos. Even then, there would still be certain places what would encourage great artistic expression.
    One figures the people who disliked the video are tattoo aficionados themselves or people who just happen to appreciate the high level of intricacy in some of these and believe some of the tattoos do not belong in this list.

    Everyone going on about "my body, my choice, my right!" They are absolutely correct. However, potential employers also have a right to their own opinions, and if they don't feel that someone with inked eyes or a face covered in tattoos is part of the image they want their company to present to the world, that is their right. Certain careers and life styles fit well with the "Everyone look at how cool/tough/individual I am" people with piercings, tattoos, and modifications, but honestly, in many 'professional' careers- finance, law, medical, teachers, and similar careers- people prefer to deal with more conservative looking people. Someday in the future, all this may be very mainstream, but right now it isn't. How many of you have read The Hunger Games series, or rather, have seen the movies? All the people in the capitol city, dressed and made up like that...how can anyone take them seriously? Personally, I do not have a problem with extremely tattooed people, but I hope I'm long dead before the world becomes like that!

He only interacts with clients by phone, and I work retail (with a bit of arm ink showing because, in 2019, it's more acceptable.) It depends on what career your in, what stage of your career, where you live, and if your self employed. Like the full double sleeve thing most of the chefs I have met outside of school have that done, in fact I felt put of place because I didn't have ink at the time. If you are just getting out of college huge tattoos aren't great ideas for most careers sometimes when you are more out of the public's eye at work its not a big deal, some countries are more open to different types. If you are self employed it depends on who you service.

    This video represents everything that is wrong with people who think that tattoos stop you from having the job you desire.
    Of course it's safer not to get your face, neck or complete arms inked, because it can be hard to cover those areas up - but if you work in a field that allows it, why would anyone even care? I'll never understand why people are so interested in things that don't really affect them.
    I also think that jobs where a certain look or a "decent appearance"(whatever that might be) are required, need people, that are more open-minded.
    Also, if I had a job interview where my boss-to-be would care that much about how I look, I'd prefer to work elsewhere. At the end of the day I want to get paid for my skills and work-ethic. I didn't get an education so that other people can tell me how good I am at what I do based on how I look.

    • @DeansVideoClips
      @DeansVideoClips 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because what you do to your body is a reflection of your mind. It shows things about your thinking behaviour and when you employ people this is very important in certain jobs that require good long term decisions. Kind of like when you go to someone's home and they live in a mess and there is dog and cat feces on the floor... it doesn't affect you if you don't have to live there but you know it will if they want to live with you... Get it?

    • @madeofamethyst
      @madeofamethyst 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      DeansVideoClips Having a tattoo done is usually not a bad long term decision. Some people might not think things through, but that doesn't mean that everyone is that way.
      I have tattoos and I spend ages planning the design and placement and I'm pretty sure that most people do, as it is very expensive.
      Also I would much rather see someone be themselves and express who they are in an artistic way than people who are hiding behind a certain look. If someone doesn't want a tattoo - fine, but it's also fine if people do.
      So your argument is based on your own opinion; doesn't take any other perspectives into consideration and the example with pets doesn't add up as a comparison, but nice try.

    • @DeansVideoClips
      @DeansVideoClips 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The pet example wasn't making a comparison it was just explaining how it's ok for someone to be themselves and do what they want in their lives if it doesn't affect others but at the same time it is an indicator of a person's personality just like a person who has a house full of books can reflect what sort of person they are. Regarding bad long term decision... it is a 'long term' decision and it shows that you assume that you will be happy for life with that decision... but I know that you don't 'know' that you only 'assume' it. You don't 'know' it until you have lived your life. You don't know that in 10 years you will still feel the same way or even 2 years. Many many people think tattoos are a great idea when they are young and then regret it with all their heart later. You have decided you know what your future self will be happy with and that is a poor judgement decision. If you get a crazy haircut or a weird job or move to a bizarre location all those decisions can be changed later in life but a gaping hole in your earlobe or an eyeball or gums full of ink well they are not so easy to change. I would guess you are young and have had your ink for a short while, I wouldn't guess that you are an older person who has had them for years and years and they are faded and distorted and no longer trendy... just a guess. Just remember look after your future self because if you don't die you will grow into your future self and your life will be just as valuable to then as you feel it is to you now...

      @solidbluesun6968 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Or maybe you should get over the ridiculous idea that people with tattoos are degenerates. There are lots of people who perform very well in their careers who have tattoos and there are also lots of people without tattoos who are stuck working low-paying jobs and who won't ever go anywhere. The times have changed and a person with visible tattoos can easily have a strong career and live a financially stable life.

    • @voicesofdust4749
      @voicesofdust4749 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nasir Riley - I have nothing to 'get over', this sudden explosion of tattooing is a ridiculous fad that will be swept away eventually by another stupid American fad. I personally wouldn't want to wear the same shirt, pants or accessory everyday single day on me. I can only commit myself to tangible goals that further life, not follow in trends that give people the illusion of some pseudo-artistic individualism. Getting to know people over time who got ink in the past few years, decades, etc… Some, not all have expressed levels of regret at what they have done to themselves. Which makes me wonder where their heads were at in the first place!?
      Also, speaking of actual Art, some of the people I've spoken to couldn't name me a living painter, assembler, drawer or sculptor to save their lives. It says a lot about the anti-intellectualism that has swept this country in the past decade and a half. Tattooing, plastic surgery; growing beards; taking steroids/insulin to look bigger; broadcasting social media non-stop is a form of destructive anti-social behavior that is dooming this generation. Also, you wont have to worry about how 'cool' you look when foreign stock markets crash the US dollar when you wont have enough money to buy food, clothing or housing. Don't worry that's coming soon…

    I’m not an authority on any of this stuff but I recon that people who have face Tattoos either plan on working in the Tattoo industry, or they are being payed under the table to do something shady, or they are so rich already that they don’t plan to work a real job outside the Tattoo industry, or they are married to someone who makes all the money, or they plan on living behind bars for the rest of their life. For all other Tattoos that can be covered; well those folks just love Tattoos and actually thought ahead about having a job interview. It’s funny because a parallel can be made between this video and parents who give their children ridiculously stupid names all the while forgetting that little “Sum Dom Fuk” might want to apply at a law firm someday. 😂
