I honestly feel super bad for the people getting tattoos considering all of the artists try to sabotage each other to win. These people are stuck with these tattoos for the rest of their lives. No matter how badly I'd want to win, I could never do that to someone getting the tattoo OR the artist tattooing the person.

The draw is the tattoos are free so they can’t really complain considering the cost. Sometimes the show will even pay for hotels and gas for canvases too.
One show they had someone tattoo something (sorry it's been years since I have watched this show) any hoot.. the guy messed up on this poor girl's tatt that the show payed to get it fixed.. it was pretty bad

I mean, to be fair, pain is different depending on the body part. The head tattoo might not have hurt her all that much if at all.
well tattoos hurt more in bonier areas, and she was thin (not trying to offend her or anyone) but yeah it probably hurt a lot on her back bones.
I'm sure they were all in pain, but the editors chose to play her up. Give the hot girl screen time and you get more views.

Why the fuck are they always so shocked and dissapproving when hearing the ideas the canvases have?? They are tattoo artists, what do they expect to do? Squares and circles?
My tattoo artist and I became friends and he had said to me that he decided to do it because its something he trully loves but he also told me that the tattoo world is not all flowers like we think it is, he had said he hates his job in 98% of the time because people that go there only have crazy ass ideas or something completely stupid, he said that if he does 3 tatoos that he really enjoys doing it per year is a good year.. But he does everything and everybody loves him.
It's more like they only have 6 hours for the tattoo. Usually tattoos the canvases have are to intricate to do in 6 hours

I don't think that the tattoo IDEA is the problem, i think its the vague way the canvass DESCRIBES how they want the tattoo "I was thinking the good wing can look whimsical, and fairy-like. The evil side looking burned and crow-like with bones coming out of it" the description is a little weird

Not really the person wants to be as professional as possible and if what you're describing isn't in their realm It's upsetting. if I went to your house to replace your roof and you told me you wanted it done a certain way that I knew wasn't good for the way I know how to install correctly, id look at you the same way. If u want the best possible tattoo u have to be flexible. Have a idea then let ur artist run with it
They really just want as simple design as possible thwir not getting paid for this so they prefere the lazy way. If it was in theor shop these wings would be anywhere from 500 to 1000 for a full back piece so they would literally brown nose the client but this they only see money on the horizon.
As somone who has a pair of wings on my back (steampunk so more metallic and angular with little feathers and more cogs) I can confirm that an artist when paid does an amazig job.

As someone who has a set of wings on my back. (Steampunky and clockwork wings) I can confirm it is extremely painful especially on the shoulder blade and spine area. They look fantastic but they were very soar to have done. I adore them but I thank my stars I didn't have two artists doing each back at once because that I would imagine is absolutely awful.
Damn the evil side on the last one... Goddamn beautiful. And I don't even like wing tattoos.

Much respect to all tatoo artist from a paper artist! I can't fathom doing any type of art and not being able to use an eraser. I've thought about learning tattooing but in my surface research it just seemed too daunting to me. So permanent, so easy to make mistakes that can only be fixed by using the rest of your art to hide it. Idk how the fuck you guys makes straight lines with a vibrating pencil. Like I said much props to any tattoo artists!

For people who commented saying that it's not worth to getting their back tattooed to artists that aren't confident in their own inkings, the volunteers get paid with full coverage of tattoo removals incase they don't want to keep them.

I think the whole concept of the show is pretty fucked - getting a piece of art on your body for the rest of your life shouldn't be time restricted
(this is said taking into consideration that higher quality work could have been produced if detailed consulting was done and the "canvas" could pick a compatible artist)
I have around 70% of my body covered and I would never have wanted to get any work done in time-restricted conditions
Well it's only edited that way. People behind the scenes have revealed that it's just edited to.look hella rushed. And some finish in 6 hours and some in 9 but it looks like they finished together. And the judges are only there for like 10 percent of the time. The rest they arent even on set. Just stuff people have said
I could not handle that amount of pain. 2 people tatooing my back at the same time for 6 hours!!! If I was one of those canvases doing a back piece like that or rib piece, I'd want to be put under anesthesia the entire time.

Time is the only thing should never be restricted when it comes to tattooing someone. What´s the point in adding rush to making a piece that remains forever?? Why would you limit to 6 hours (in this case) the time the artist has to work?

Ink Masters need better canvases... Cause most them are big babies. I got 3 colored tattoos and eye brow piercing all in one appointment while on conference call with 12 other co-worker and no one had a clue, and the tat tech was like you are boss for a women. Almost offended! 🤣
I absolutely love tattoos, especially well done tattoos with meaning behind them. I have several myself.
That being said I also absolutely hate them on the face, they just do not look good ever on the face.
