  • The name is pronounced “7 of 27 Descent” and is inspired by the unique well identifier for the Shell 7 of 27 well site. The well is located in Legal Sub-Division 7 of Section 27 Township 22 Range 6 west of the 5th Meridian. (near the entrance to Billy Dog) The trail starts near the Shell 7 of 27 well site. The name might also make one think of the popular 3 engine Boeing 727 aircraft of the 1960’s and 1970’s. The 7-27 Descent trail was included in the MMBTS 5 year plan prepared in late 2010.
In 2015 the first 1.5 km of trail was machine built thanks to Cornerstone Excavating of Kimberley and a $28,822 grant from the Alberta Recreational Trails Partnership. The remaining 1.1 km was hand built by a few dedicated volunteers and will hopefully be upgraded in the future. The machine built portion of the trail is fast and flowy featuring numerous rollers, doubles and table tops. The trail will help intermediate riders progress their skill level with jumps.translate
    Access Info
Top access is from Pneuma just below the wellsite near the 4km point of Moose Mountain Road. The trail ends at an intersection with the Sulphur Springs trail, just east of the creek crossing. Riders may continue east on the Sulphur Springs trail to the Station Flats parking lot or ride west up Sulphur Springs to the 2 km lot, or continue up Pneuma for another lap.

Did a couple nights of E-fat pedaling in Lake Placid, NY. Missed a tree(slippery trail), hit three other trees. Only damage was the front wheel and a couple busted ribs. Wear your full-face helmet! It definitely saved my skull.

I try to wear an FF helmet, but sometimes I use an open face so my glasses do get foggy. Thanks for the advice.

Oh I miss that trail. Did you climb the road to get there or did you take Pneuma up? You didn't do the black trail drop! 🤣 Also I notice your camera seemed a little shaky. Is that because of the low light or because you had stabilization turned down?

This is one of my favourite trails as well. We climbed Pneuma, and the condition was excellent. I'm staying away from big drops 😁 may we can try this summer 🤪? I had to factory reset the camera for a firmware upgrade that was not going through, so the stabilization was set to default (low), and the lighting condition didn't help either.
