This is the most popular ride for road cyclists in the Bow Valley, and one of the very best road-biking rides in Canada. The Bow Valley Parkway, or Highway 1A, is the old highway between Banff and Lake Louise, and has relatively little traffic. There are a few good hills along the way in both directions. You are gaining elevation overall on the way to Lake Louise, and generally have a headwind ...

Information from Trail Forks: This has become an extremely popular climbing trail for people accessing West Bragg trails from Station Flats / Allen Bill and riders looping back to West Bragg after descending Ridgeback 3. The trail is fairly smooth, with few roots and loose rocks except at the very bottom and top. However, it is also an incredibly fun descent. From Ranger Summit, drop down Bobca...

Least it was a gentle lay down
I picked a soft landing spot. lol
Definitely some janky features on that trail. So much fun!
Yes it was!
What’s the update on his bike? Is that the EP eight motor?
Yes. It has the EP8 motor.
My! What long arms you have! 😆
😂
Fun fun fun! That was my favourite trail there.
Mine too!
Great flow trail.
Yes indeed.
Where is the starting point close by? Thanks
I rode from the Stone’s Throw just before the last part by taking Elbow Valley to the Trappers, but you have some challenging climbs to do before reaching the start point and starting from the 2K parking lot at Moos and taking Elbow Valley, which is much shorter to the Trappers entrance.
Sweet! Thanks much! Will try soon! Cheers! 🎉
I haven't been out yet this season. I'll have to check out the trails after work this week! looks fantastic.
This trail is well-made, but I wish it was longer.
sweet.
Indeed!
How fast does this thing go without peddling?
This is a pedal-assist bike. It doesn’t have the throttle, so if you need to go faster, you must paddle faster. The motor cuts off after 35km.
@@emtbadventures_ca thanks. I could. Or find this otherwise. Shame. Because I like norco. But this will not suit my needs
How fast does it go?
The motor cuts off after 35km.
I'm considering this bike. I saw your voltage issue from a year ago. Can you give me a rundown of whether you would recommend I buy it and why? For context, I have been riding a Norco Bigfoot 2 since February 2020. I use it exclusively in winter with studded tires to bike to work in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The bike functions well even at -40 C. With an upgrade to electric, I would use the bike for commuting (our roads are snow packed from November to April) but also start off road biking on snow packed trails at all temperatures, and I would swap to non-studded tires and use it off road on dirt trails and gravel/solid rock surfaces in summer (but I ride a motorcycle for the streets in summer so wouldn't commute with it in summer). This bike is at least twice the price of other brands out there, but I favour quality as number 1 and don't mind paying for it. I want the 900 battery as well. The bike would be stored in a non-heated shop, so if it is -40, the bike will be -40 C - however I would bring the battery indoors every evening. Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
Norco was the first Canadian e-fat bike brand, and this year, Rockymountain joined the party. As you can see from my videos, I had a power issue after I purchased the bike, but after the last fix, I haven't had any power problems. I like the 900w battery, especially in the cold weather when the battery drains faster. I rode about 50km with 1000m elevation on turbo mode before it dropped below 10% with the 900w battery. The coldest I rode with this bike was -28°C, and I had no issues except after riding for an hour. I left the bike outside and got into my car to warm myself up for about 30 min when I had a problem turning on the bike. The power button battery needed to warm up for about 10 minutes inside my van, and it worked again. Rockymount is also not trouble-free. I heard from some friends who bought it that RM throws an error below -20°C. Because of my latest experience, I do not recommend leaving the bike in cold storage. I'm thinking about selling my bike with many upgrades. Let me know if you are interested. I'm in Calgary, Alberta. I hope it helps.
Does anyone have a resolution to the Norco power connector intermittent cutout issue? Have a 2023 Sight VLT with the same issue and having trouble getting it warrantied.
I'm not having any issues since the last fix. Norco has a campaign bulletin about this fix.
@@emtbadventures_ca do you have a link for that bulletin?
How does this bike compare to your old one? I’m looking at getting a used one. Not sure I want to go with 26” tires though. Seems like 27.5 is the way to go.
I love it. It makes a massive difference with 27.5” tires and the EP8 motor.
I'm wondering why you play the horn. Yeti?
That sound is coming from the wet brake pads. Lol
Wow, but at least the drive was almost silent :) @@emtbadventures_ca
New bike fitting better? Looks good...and the same. :).
I ended up keeping the Norco.
Thanks for the video !! Where is that ?? are you on a trail or just free riding trees ?

Well done! That's a super steep trail.
It sure is :)
Looks great!
Thanks!
Baldy in the winter? That is awesome, how was it?
It was a snow-packed smooth ride. Way better than summer.
Looks like a decent ride that day!
Yes, the trails were in great shape, primarily firm.
Looks like fun - am thinking of doing this soon! Did you climb Moose Mountain road to get there?
Yes. We climb the husky road. It was a fun ride, except the last part was very icy.
What they have E fat bikes ? Jesus Christ ! Get some exercise! What’s this pansy world coming to ?
Your old '21 Bigfoot VLT is still going strong... almost 6000km now, ridden offroad 5+ times per week. Ride wrap still intact, still looks perfect 😉👍
Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you are enjoying it almost every day. Happy for you. 😊
Where's the snow? 🤣
😂 You missed that one snow-free day this winter. 😂
Fun fun fun! Everything on that loop. Hero snow, ice, a bit of mud, dry dirt, and water covered ice.
Yes, One of my favourite trails. I had a blast tonight.
Wow, the quickness of your uploads is awesome!
I'm glad you like them! I’m trying to give a real-time trial update.
Those brakes would drive me nuts. Shimano will solve that problem.
I like the XT brake levers.
Nice video. On Feb 28, 1988 a friend and I cycled the Goat Creek/Spray River trail to Banff. It was fun
Wow, 1988. That was a long time ago. Did you ride a fat bike?
There was no such thing in 1988. We cycled in whatever version of mountain bike that existed in those days
Oh wow! you got that video up quick!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Noisy brakes! 😆
To keep the bears away. Haha
Love this .. 👍
We need back-to-back negative temp to harden the trail. Thanks for watching the video.
@emtbadventures_ca yeah I can't wait for some winter adventures here myself, but this is Boston, so at some point I guess lol
Did a couple nights of E-fat pedaling in Lake Placid, NY. Missed a tree(slippery trail), hit three other trees. Only damage was the front wheel and a couple busted ribs. Wear your full-face helmet! It definitely saved my skull.
I try to wear an FF helmet, but sometimes I use an open face so my glasses do get foggy. Thanks for the advice.
Any other issues with the power supply? Loosening the 4 screw from the previous video. Was it?
LBS dropped the motor and pulled the cable (Rosenberg plug) to secure it with a zip tie to fix the power issue. Norco published a bulletin for this repair.
I am planning to get this one soon. Do you still love it after 12 months? How do you feel the manitou performs ?
I still love the bike, specifically after fixing the power issue. Mastodon is still performing well. I changed the travel to 130mm from the stock 100mm travel. It feels much better now.
Why use Ad-Block's on TH-cam...to avoid annoying Ads, with Woke celebrities. That's why.
Hmm. :)
Lithium, would make most Snowflake cyclists...scream, if they understood the process of attaining the material. More dirty than early 19th century gold mining. Lithium-ion, is also not designed for the cold(below freezing). Every e-bike manual, states this. I use a couple neoprene wraps around the downtube. Doesn't help in temps below 25F. And transferring the battery from warm(inside) to cold environment, does compromise the integrity. I charge my Darfon battery to about seventy-five percent in temps below 40F degrees. Li-Ion, expands in cold, damaging the battery. What's needed is a immediate Li-Ion replacement. Bike companies are...reluctant. Zinc batteries, can have longer range, less charging-time, environmentally friendly(lithium is not!), and survive in below freezing temps. But people are reluctant for change, even though they rant for change.
We'll see the improved battery (Zinc) on EVs before coming to eBike. I also use a neoprene wrap around the downtube. When it's below -15C, I bring my bike inside the house. I recently bought a van to transport my bike to the trailhead to avoid the road salt and slush.
Dewalt Lion batts work flawlessly when cold or warm. Can be left out in the truck well below 0F then will still work but die early. Need to warm up before they will charge. Not sure why e bike batts don’t work the same.
A switch to Shimano brakes will solve the loud brakes problem. It did for me. Even Shimano’s cheap brakes. Scram brakes always make noise when wet.
I think it's the combination of road grins, salt and brake pads. I started to transport my bike inside the vehicle and swapping to MTX break pads to minimize the break noise.
Had the same problem. Battery was bad.
Mine’s in for the same problem. Didn’t have any problems all last winter but showed up when getting it ready for this season. Bow cycle is working on it but haven’t been able to resolve it with the “usual” fixes. Likely going to warranty to replace parts.
Shane was the mechanic at Bow Cycle who fixed mine.
There's a Norco tech service bulletin about this power cable issue now.
@@emtbadventures_ca do you have a link to this service bulletin? I can't find it. A friend just picked one of these up and ran into this on the first ride, trying to figure out a permanent solution.
I just noticed today that the problem has returned. Happened just sitting in my heated garage for a couple weeks (been way too cold to ride). Clearly, this was more than just a firmware update. I’ll see about that power cable service bulletin referred to above.
👏👏
Thanks
I turned off the mindless music.
Noted. Thanks
Hey Buddy hope you had a great summer.
Yes. Thanks.
Very glad to see a new vid , keep up the great work 🙂👍

I want the same bike but now more than ever. TY for sharing
You'll love it. I am looking forward to hearing from you after you get your bike.
Whoops! Hope you didn't get hurt on that fall.
It wasn't that bad. Thanks for your support.
Gorgeous views from up there! I need to check out this loop maybe this weekend if the rain holds.
