    The Arditi were trained in fencing amongst other skills. Hold it with the butt pressing against your palm. Sort of like a Harry Potter wand. That’s why it’s shorter handled.
    Good review.

    dagger handles are supposed to be not the size of a regular knife handle!

    I thought it was larger. Interested in this blade now that I see it's around 10 inches. Thanks bro.

      It is a very good looking and well made piece. The history behind the knife makes it very special. Thanks for the comment Peter.

    Imagine to present a black piece of gear - while *not* using a black background filming at night. The possibilities! We, the viewers of this video, would even be able to see what you’re talking about!

    The knife is sharpened on one side only because in italy you need a gun permit to have a knife sharpened on both sides

    So the grind near the guard is not even so they could get the name on the blade? That is dumb. It's all about marketing. It's 90 and the date you pillack!

    • @ontheedge3350
      @ontheedge3350  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Firstly the grind you call ‘uneven’ is a design element hinting at the fuller of the original Vitterli bayonet. That fuller was asymmetric in shape, and placed off-center. Secondly, turns out that there were in fact 2018 of these knives produced, so it is not the date. The knife I reviewed is number 90 of 2018. So, who is the pillack now?

      @@ontheedge3350 Vetterli M1870 was the bayonet and they reused the bayonet and the scabbard obtaining two knives or a short bayonet and a dagger, so you are 100% correct, what you see is a tribute to the original fuller visible in the original daggers. I have an original one in front of me, it's not a big dagger 10cm handle, 17cm blade, the Arditi started up as shock units, they were armed only with grenades and this dagger, they would start by throwing stunt grenades (Thevenot) in the trenches and then finish the job with the daggers they offten carried between their teeth. Their austro-hungarian counter-parts also had daggers but they much preffered trench clubs instead. The italians really appreciated the austrian daggers and they armed themselves with them when they were able to get them, at the end of the war they got a whole bunch as war spoils. Extrema Ratio did a "tribute of a tribute" of the austro-hungarian (Kuk) dagger, the first tribute being the M39 arming fascist troops. The scary thing is that if you have an original Arditi dagger, you can be sure it saw action, as in it did take lives,in the Great War. Great presentation, keep up the good work!
