I agree with Willie about the loading of the crankshaft bearings. Option 1' s problem is that the load pushing axially along the crank will cause issues, but I would be more concerned about the cork destroying itself very quickly. You could make the clutch disc float on the motor shaft such that it slides with the key transmitting the torque, add a bearing and linkage to squeeze the plate together but the cork is the weak link. Maybe leather instead or leave one side bare metal and weld 2 disc brake pads to one plate as the friction material. Option 2' s problem, besides the side loading on the crank is that I would think the motor shaft might just burn up the tire where it touches due to friction if the tire fails to move. This design has potential though if you add a 3rrd tire and wheel fastened directly to the motor shaft. Then allow the other tire to pivot like your second tire so that both pivoting tired squeeze against the middle tire and balance any sideways force on the tire fastened to the motor. This would also increase the surface areas of the clutch contact points ( now rubber tire to rubber tire) which dissipates heat better and provides more wear life. Let us know how long your original designs last and if fail quickly, try some minor modifications.
Since these engines only run clutches or torque converters, they don't accept side loading the crank very well. They don't have much more than a simple washers or shims to locate the crank. The way that clutch applies there will be a constant side load on the crank and will probably wear the side of the case out very quickly.
Love your ingenuity! From one junkyard engineer to another, very well done. Thank you for sharing and the ideas. My grandchildren will also appreciate your work. Thanks again.
Although NOT a centrifugal clutch I definitely like your first idea, very well thought out and well presented, even though I had my sound turned of while watching the video, it was so well done I could build one just by following your video. By the way, you can also modify a small motorcycle's or even a moped's front (or) rear drum brake as long as it has dual leading shoes since they are very light and might cost anywhere from five to twenty dollars depending upon where you buy it, yard sale or motorcycle swap meet; I did this about twenty-four years ago for my son's mini bike when I couldn't locate a centrifugal clutch anywhere in my area, and I don't like to order on-line since more often than not I've not received what I ordered. Take a close look as they are physically built the same and doesnt take a lot to convert it - mine was made from a '65 Honda CB72 250cc - which took the better part of two or three hours of fitting and finagling before it locked-up properly, but when it did was very impressive considering how much larger it was than a standard go cart clutch. Pretty sure you could do this easily in a couple of hours with the tools you have available.

Strictly speaking, clever as they are, these are not centrifugal clutches, they're cable operated in conjunction with the throttle - ingenious though! Well done.
How well will the cork facing hold up? How was exact axial alignment between the two clutch faces achieved? I don't think centrifugal clutch is the correct name for either of these designs. A centrifugal clutch engages when sufficient rpm is achieved requiring no direct operator control other than throttle.
Very good build & video. I think I would reverse the clutch operation linkage to releasing the pedal to engage drive rather than press pedal operation.!!
That’s dumb because the point of the clutch is that it doesn’t drive off on it’s own the way you say it is that as soon as you turn on your engine it’s going to drive away
Good job fabricating these rube Goldberg drives. I don't know where in the world you are but in the US I can by a 3/4 drive centrifugal clutch cheaper than I could buy all the pillow block bearings, sprockets, metal plates, nuts, bolts and chain you used.
I am not being funny, but you need to weld things properly, put a decent seam, those little spots won't hold. Some of those spots won't even be welded as you don't leave it long enough to heat up.
I feel like I would like it better to run the cable like a car always connected and press in to open. Maby hook a locking thing to keep the clutch in when starting or just at idle. Great ideas I always wondered how to make a diffrent type of clutch. Thanks sir

Not a centrifugal, but very well done! It shows in a simple way how a clunch works. Congratulations!
what about those for 20$
Fractional clutch
Great clunch
Great video.... it’s great to see home made go-carts....!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome Video and BRILLIANT MIND
eres el mejor chapusero que existe hermanito
This is amazing just what I was looking for. Cheers from Canada.
I definitely think that both ideas are amazing but I think the setup with the 2 rubber wheels is probably more reliable. Very smart fellow!🙂👍🙏

Of course.
Thought it was just me missing the stated clutch, click bait?? What is the point of it anyway? Seemed like a whole lotta not needed.
At first I thought I'm stupid or something, until I read your comment. thnx.
Go kart lesson!
Centrifical clutches are a lot simpler easier to make and besides they function better.
Bagus 👍👍👍 tp terlalu rumit ... Kurang simpel jd susah utk di lakukan /memahami
This is not a centrifugal clutch, but one of the best automatic clutches I have seen
Very good at modifying the car.
Bravo my friend great food for thought i will have to remember this peice of engineering simple and very effective just alittle work thanks.

I have a few Max Torque SS 3/4 shaft, 10 tooth clutches sitting around that would save you a whole lot of time and money! Made in USA still too.
I’ll take one if you still got them
Show me please or share your idea I need clutch
muy buena idea yo fabrico cosas esta idea me dio muchas m as ideas grscias
Nice build
Save all this trouble and time and use a 50cc motor bike engine, has a built in clutch and chain sprocket 🤔

Looks good but do You don’t have any vibration when you drive fast ?
yes i had .but that it´s normal becouse it´s a go kart casero .
Si

very nice
Be the same as a Wheel Horse Belt Clutch System?
The ground/earth path for the welder should never go through bearings. It appears it did on the engine once and on the drill press once.
Wonder how long the cork will last?
What kind of metal are you using
Very good

I like it
If you price the four pillow blocks, tubing, and all the time involved the price of a clutch is fair.
Nice build all the same.
It's not a centrifugal clutch, as all, it's overly complicated too
Which material it's chassis made of
Very clever
Of course, walking does it somehow.
But a motorcycle engine + transmission is much better!
First version was not very good, the second version is a lot better. Keep learning and experimenting and you will be making awesome things very soon!
So um, what are building? Didn't see any projects on your channel. Oh right, just another troll, shit talking and doing absolutely nothing
This very interligent
Good job bro
