One of the most elite of the companions from the Ansar was Ka'b b. Malik (ra), a brave companion who participated in every obligatory battle & expedition alongside the Prophet (SAW) except the obligatory expedition of Tabuk.
Such a crime is so unbecoming of a Muslim that only the hypocrites who pretend to be Believers would commit such an atrocity.
However, even in the midst of all odds against him, with such a major sin on his record, Ka'b b. Malik (ra) conquered his trials and came out victorious because of his truthfulness and sincerity.

Episode 87 - 93 Notes: Part 2
- Expedition of Khalid Ibn Walid to Dumatal Jandal
Whilst camped in Tabuk, the Prophet SAW sent Khalid Ibn Walid RA with 400 horsemen to capture Ukaydir Ibn Abd Al Malik Al Kindi, who was the chief of the Christian Arab tribe of Kindi. Khalid RA was successful in doing this, by capturing Ukaydir when he was alone with his cows. Khalid RA brought the chief back to the Prophet SAW, who released him on the condition that, he severs his ties with the Romans and pays Jizya to the Muslims. Ukaydir agreed and even sent gifts to the Prophet SAW in order to show his new loyalty.
- Letter to Heraclius
The Prophet SAW at Tabuk, also sent Dihya RA to give a letter to Heraclius. This letter would be the second one sent to Heraclius. The letter stated, accept Islam, pay Jizya or prepare for war. Upon reading this Heraclius held a private meeting with his advisors and informed them about the contents of the letter. Heraclius was willing to convert or pay Jizya and told his advisors that he wants to have peace with the Muslims. Heraclius actually believed the Prophet SAW was a true prophet. His advisors completely disagreed and viewed this as blasphemous and when Heraclius saw this, he told them he was just testing their faith.
The advisors left and Heraclius then hired a man called the Tanuki to send a letter to the Prophet SAW. In reality the letter was just a rouse and the Tanuki had been sent to test the prophethood of the Prophet SAW. He was tasked to look out for 3 signs when meeting the Prophet SAW. Upon noticing all 3 signs and realizing the Prophet SAW is a true prophet, the Tanuki reported this to Heraclius. However, Heraclius never accepted Islam due to fear of being overthrown. Heraclius died later and the Muslims conquered his empire.
The Prophet SAW at Tabuk, announced that he had been blessed by Allah SWT with 5 things no Prophet AS before him had been given.
1. The Prophet SAW was sent for all of humanity.
2. Allah SWT gave the Prophet SAW victory at Tabuk because the enemies were terrified of him and this never showed up.
3. The Prophet SAW is the only Prophet AS that was allowed to keep war booty.
4. Allah SWT allowed the followers of the Prophet SAW to use the entire earth as a Masjid.
5. Allah SWT allowed the Prophet SAW to have any wish that he want granted.
The Prophet SAW then prophesized 6 things before the Day of Judgment:
1. The death of the Prophet SAW.
2. The Conquest Of Jerusalem.
3. Two plagues that will kill significant Muslims.
4. The Muslims will have an incredible amount of wealth.
5. A Fitnah that will affect every house of the Muslims.
6. The Muslims will have a truce with the Romans in order to fight a common enemy. Once this enemy is defeated, the Romans will break the true. This will lead to the Muslims vs 80 flags. Each flag will have thousands under it.
- On the Journey to Medina
After staying at Tabuk for 20 days, the Prophet SAW then headed back towards Medina. On the way he stopped at Al Hijr which is where the Prophet SAW told the Muslims about the tribe of Thamud. Many miracles occurred on the journey back to Medina. There also were Munafiqun amongst the army who mocked the Prophet SAW and Allah SWT exposed them via the Qur’an. During the trip back, a group of 14 Munafiqs even tried to assassinate the Prophet SAW and failed as the Prophet SAW realised what they were trying to do and saved himself. The Munafiqs had covered their faces and thus they weren’t punished as their identities were unknown.
- The Incident of Masjid Al Dirar and the Munafiqun
After Allah SWT chastised the Munafiqun for mocking the Muslims via the Quran. The Munafiqun decided to build their own masjid with Abdullah Ibn Salul as their main leader. They began collecting funds for this masjid, whilst the Prophet SAW was collecting funds the expedition of Tabuk. They were successful in collecting funds for it and finished building the masjid before the Prophet SAW left for Tabuk.
The whole reason they did this was because Abdullah Ibn Salul had received a letter from Abu Amir Ar Rahib, who was a Christian former monk of Medina, that was once loved by the people. He loved the attention they gave him once upon a time and thus he hated the Prophet SAW for taking that love of the people from him via Islam.
Abu Amir had told Abdullah to open a masjid so, that he can have a base to begin fermenting a rebellion, with the main goal being to expel the Muslims from Medina. Abu Amr at the time was living in lands of the Romans out of his hatred for the spread of Islam. Whist living there, he managed to get close to the Cesar and he intended to request Cesar’s help in removing the Muslims from Medina.
Abdullah Ibn Salul wanted the Prophet SAW to come and bless the masjid by praying 2 Rakaats inside of it. The Prophet SAW feeling uneasy about the creation of the masjid to begin with, told him to wait until he returns from Tabuk.
However, when the Prophet SAW was journeying back to Medina from Tabuk. Jibreel AS was sent with Wahi, which included Ayah’s 107-108 of Surah At Tawbah. These Ayahs revealed the plot of the Munafiqs and forbade the Prophet SAW from praying in Masjid Al Dirar. The Prophet SAW then ordered Ammar Ibn Yasir RA and other Sahabah RA to go and burn Masjid Al Dirar to the ground. This brought an end to the aspirations of the Munafiqun and they became a very insignificant threat after this.

Please note: I HIGHLY recommend that you all watch YQ’s Seerah series, as I DON’T cover every single detail the Sheikh mentions. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it.
You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes.
One thing I wanted to do but am too lazy to do is, maybe someone could take the FTFs from under each “Episode” and make an Islamic reminder/information IG/TikTok account and post them daily or something. Could be a great form of Sadaqah Jaariyah.

It is very dishonest to intentionally present 2nd or more hand stories as first hand accounts.
Like, Ka'b ibn Malik, we too should focus on our merits and remove the justifications for our mistakes.
Like Prophet Muhammad, we should be willing to act like we are going to do something for safety reasons and without lying.
Procrastination must be avoided, because promptness usually increases pleasure in deeds and leisure.
Persistence in evil doesn't necessarily have to result in more punishment per act, but it certainly makes for a lack of internal atoning for their sins or it a more difficult matter to deal with.
The 50 days of the silent treatment and 10 more days without the three having contact with their wives remains a test fro many who hear of it when their own country probably deals out a worse punishment for the crime of draft dogging or the like.

At 1:05:53 minutes, sheikh said Ka'ab bin Malik found out from some women about situation at Hilals house. now here I don't understand who went and spoke to Ka'ab R.a. ? He was still under the boycott, so who would have dared to go and inform him about other sahaabis house! Can someone please clarify....

i think you missed out the story, the part begins when the prophet PBUH ordered to leave his women, which means that he had to be seperated, and since he is telling the story months or years later, he said he found out that it was the rule for everyone, and since hilal was an old man, his wife asked the prophet .......
you know the rest of the story
the confusion here is that he is telling the story not living it he lived it, and now he is reporting what happened, and let's say you went isolated, and when you got out people told you what happened, you would say, i found out that .........
The sheik is reading form the book of Serah ok, so if u don't understand something go and buy the book and read it yourself
