I think I have watched hundreds of yacht videos. Every time I watch an Oyster 595 video I want one. It is iconic.

Great review Matt - it was so good to look at her performance, not just her interior. With Oyster you simply expect that they have every detail sorted and thought through - well done them!

I love to see the Oyster yachts. If I win the lottery, I will immediately buy an 885SII.

Superlative review. Will prompt another 10 unit sales at least. Very well done! More reviews like this please yet I imagine they are not so easy to arrange.

Stating the bloody obvious it is a beautiful boat, I'm wondering why those rectangular windows in the hull weren't made flush with the outside of the hull. I noticed that the water going past when healed catches the indentations, not that it would affect speed that much but it would look much nicer if it wasn't causing that splashing on those points in the hull. Small beans I know but flush would look so much nicer

You, I and a whole bunch of other people have thought the same thing, which makes me think that there must be a good reason for it that just isn’t obvious to us.

Love the review & appreciate the insights. I think it would be helpful to perhaps overlay a chart & state distances traveled at various points during the day. Yes, using 10 knots is sufficient, but- she was so stable and planted, it's hard to grasp just how far she carried you- say, on that 1st day out of Hamble. I KNOW she tossed up the kite even on short runs, but- I sense that she really can eat up miles without racing & constant sail tuning. Many a boat would be tweaking lines every minute, squeezing out every 1/4 knot to achieve similar speeds. A true testimony to her shape, balance & sail plan.

perhaps a silly question but how do you know if the anchor holds the boat.....................and on topic. What a beauty...

I hope to see a nice video of the alternative interior layout, with the master forward and the two more spacious guest cabins rear..

The splashing on the aft cabin windows, just needs a flush panel covering all 3 windows. Perhaps a drivers seat specially designed for sitting back against the rails like where you were standing/leaning outboardish!

I think I personally would want a solent rig with a sail that's better for reaching on the outer stay. That low cut jib is not going to set very well with the wind aft of the beam. They have an asym kite, but you aren't going to want to use that in heavier air or with only a couple of people onboard. A good blue water sail plan is all about having options without having to go through the effort of changing the sail on a single furler. I'd have a removable inner forestay for a staysail as well if it were my boat.

Oyster claims this is a blue water boat. When the boat gets into really rough seas…..what’s protecting the helm and the operator? I don’t see a deep toe rail? I don’t see grab handles forward? I’m all for Ouster products but I can’t help wanting one of their older models that seem (IMHO) to be designed for the rough stuff.

Cuz like most people who buy luxury SUVs, Oyster knows these boats will never see a rough sea.

Y’all are so soft. There are people all over the world sailing across vast oceans like the Atlantic with vessels far inferior to this vessel. I could easily take this vessel all over the planet….

Nice! -- QUESTION -- If it is so quiet when beating upwind, why did you turn off the sound and turnon music when you showed the interior? That was very uncool. Please repost the the interior shot when beating upwind and let us listen.

No it doesn't. In fact very few people even heard about it. You included. You just read about it 10 minutes before you wrote that. If you really knew what you were talking about, you'd know it was an 825.

It is absolutely intolerable when a brit starts praising something british. Raising sails took 20 seconds. OMG, REALLY!? And it's SO different from any other yacht HOW? Yachts both twice as cheap and twice as expensive as this one have electric winches and buttons. Decks with no lines. OH WOW! That's so unique!!!! Show me ONE yacht made after 2010 that has lines lying around on the deck. All winches are accessible from the helm. NO WAY!!!!!! NOBODY has done that before. I've seen an Italian yacht where you have to take THREE STEPS between winches... in 1953. A yacht made in 2022 is stable and has an easy helm. GIVE UP!!! Mr.Sheahan, was Christopher Columbus really a lousy team leader? Look at the size of the side decks! VERY impressive but... Have you seen a TAIWANESE Hylas recently? And it goes on like that. I wonder what Mr.Sheahan has to say about Amel 60. I'll wait. :-)

No real world test yet. No real cold storage. I would like to see a transatlantic crossing. These have become so overpriced. It’s a damn sailboat not a yacht. Anything to justify that price tag.

What do you mean "modern bow thrusters"? They changed somehow? The man just said it without any explanation. What was wrong with the "old" ones? And how different are the "modern" ones? SO annoying.
