  • Hi…. Sorry if you started watching this video earlier and it disappeared This was due to youtube automatically setting it as ‘public’ before i had finishedthe title and descriptionetc sorry for the inconvenience
Following on from the last video covering the upgrade of my 45yr old Lima Deltic. This time I get cutting and gluing and modify the one piece plastic bogies. I get rid of the large D shape tension lock couplings and fit Nem pockets, enabling the use of any style of coupling. My preference being the magnetic type.
It’s a bit fiddly but well within the doable brackets for most modellers.
    The results are excellent.
I also fit a micro-switch to the rear lights so they can be independently switched off when the loco is pulling rolling stock.
And lastly is fit a set of buffers as previously the old girl only had one.
This loco is becoming more and more usable and looks the part when on the layout, just like the more modern kit.
    Hope you enjoy the video.
Merry Christmas and All the best for 2024.
    Regards…. Steve 👍👍👍

Hi Steve, great videos, you had me hooked on my second visit. I have just inherited a collection of Lima locos from my dad, they have never been ran and I have been in two minds whether to convert them to dcc for my layout or just display them. Your modernisation of these old locos is extremely interesting, no doubt I’ll be firing all sort of questions your way in the not too distant future. Your videos are very well done and I’m enjoying the content.
    Cheers
    Ross

Hi Al. Thanks for watching. I couldn’t believe how cheap those switches were. I’m trying to think of other mods to use them on.
All the best for Christmas and 2024.

What ingenious mods they are. Especially loving the NEM pocket. I’ve found the tension lock couplings through the ages don’t always like each other, so to be able to choose the couplings is fantastic.
Merry Christmas Steve, hope to catch up with you next year.

Brilliant! Thanks again for a very helpful video. I think I mentioned the last time I left a comment on how I'd a fleet of these old Lima Deltics that I am trying to upgrade or improve. I've since then been able to acquire a Bachman Prototype Body shell which I am fitting to a Lima chassis so all of the upgrades you have demonstrated will help me in making my Lima/Bachman 'hybrid' a loco worth owing - not to mention improving my other Deltics. Please keep them coming. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
