    The Dead Sea Scroll of Isaiah (the Isaiah scroll predates the standard Hebrew Masoretic text of Isaiah by about 1,000 years - dated to be 200-100 B.C.) retains this beloved passage, proving that it truly was written hundreds of years before the Messiah, Jesus, came on the scene, so anyone claiming that it was written after Jesus or that later Christians put Christian interpolations onto the text, are clearly demonstrated to be wrong.

      What stops those who wrote the Gospels, who clearly knew the Jewish scriptures well, writing the Gospels in a way to mirror Isaiah?

    • @shockthetoast
      @shockthetoast 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

      @@michaelhart1072 That's a good question. For one, other sources that tell that Christ lived and was crucified. They have a lot less details but it establishes some basics. Another is that Christianity was heavily persecuted, it wasn't a group someone would join for fun or curiosity. Not just from the Romans, but for Jewish converts it was high persecution by their own leaders. The high growth under persecution indicates that followers believed it was true. Because of the nature of many of the claims in the Gospels (and epistles), it would be fairly trivial to discover that at least some of the major events were made up. One of the best alternatives would be a conspiracy at a level that a tiny persecuted cult couldn't reasonably pull off.

    I think the greatest epiphany I got from this is that despite their despising and rejection of Jesus, and putting him up to humiliation, he still manages to say “Father, forgive them. They know not what they do.” Even though they lifted up the son of god on a cross Jesus’s desire is still to show them mercy, grace, and love. Really goes to show how unfailing his love is, and no matter how much we stumble, he payed the price. We don’t have to. Thank you for sharing this word it really has helped me today as I’ve been struggling with some bodily sickness and standing for healing.

      Psalm 22 is a likely mistranslation, "They pierce" is likely incorrect. The Nahal Hever Psalms scroll reads כארו (Dig?) but the Masoretic text reads כארי (like a lion). The change from yod to vav changes the meaning to "they dug my hands and my feet" which honestly makes no sense. The lack of a verb in the likely original reading (like a lion, my hands and my feet) is fairly common in Hebrew poetry.

    Hey Mike, question,
    Pasted from last video, I recently was asked about substitutes for swears, (oh my gosh, shoot, crap, darn, etc.) because I often use them. Someone asked me, is it legalistic to use those words, in the same sense and context and meaning as their swear counterparts.
    I was unsure how to answer this but I figured that it might be somewhat hypocritical, at the very least controversial, and as I have been watching you over the years, I noticed you say them at times as well.
    Is this a a legalistic loophole? Or am I just wayyyyy overthinking this, haha.
    Love your channel and all the great insight you’ve given me and people, may God bless you and give you wisdom.

    Mike! Another great video, thank you! I grew up SDA and they have a doctrine known as the investigative judgment that I’d want you to take a look at and tell us about. It is, in my opinion, a very peculiar doctrine so please if you want to, explain it and why it’s not compatible with the rest of Christendom. God bless you✝️🤍

    Amazing summary, Mike. I wish this was dubbed in Spanish so I can have my family hear it.
    I have a question about the topic of how the snake on the pole in the desert represents Jesus...Isn't the serpent a representation of the enemy? Also...The morning star reference I think its maybe Isaiah or Jeremiah...same question. I don't know if you've ever taught on this topic but if you have please point me towards the videos.
    Thanks again and may God continue to bless this ministry

    The slave (yes, a slave, not just a servant) in Isaiah 53, does not suffer for others, but he suffers because of others, because of their actions, or from their actions, certainly not for.
