      John Ashton thanks for the great times. Saw you at queen Margaret Union in Glasgow in 1984. I was hung over the stage and you asked if I was ok. I was. What a great night.

    I have Richard Butler's autograph in a hotel Bible after seeing them perform at a club in Seattle with the Stray Cats. He was instantly mesmerizing in black eyeliner singing under the spotlight. Have never had a visceral reaction like that to a performer in a live band before or since.

      Nah. That is superficial. Butler had it going on as an artist - he sings for fun. Johnny Rotten is a self-promotion. Bowie needs no words.

    Incredible. Saw these guys several times in the early '80s, and they were mind-blowing. This will be the recruitment video for my younger friends who've asked what they were like.

    The coolest group of guys to cross the pond thus far.
    Love the way the symbols mix with Butler's voice when he repeats "sstop! Sstop! Sstop..." Also love the way this cut rolls into "Soap Commercial" on the original disc. The bass, sax, dual guitar, and floor toms are utilized to amazing effect on the first disc, and lifted to an entirely new level of achievement with "Talk, Talk, Talk".

    Wow -- great video and sound. I'd love to see a DVD with these performances. What's funny is watching a proper sit down audience looking on. Yes, the definitive line up ... too bad they couldn't have gone on longer with it just when they'd reached their peak with Talk, Talk, Talk.

Between Blues Jazz rock and roll ska reggae folk.. as a whole the US and the UK have simply made some of the best music on earth and the rest of the world loves it. Yes that includes the close brother and sister nations.. ie New Zealand and Australia in creating 🎶

    Factory Records were named so because there was a factory closing down over the road from where they were opening the club that preceeded the label and they thought it would be nice to put a sign up saying "Factory Open".

    I believe factory in this song pertains to working at a factory. The song relates to British working class life & uses sarcasm to express contempt for the nature of the established order of things. ........."I'm in love with the factory.....I'm in love with the BBC....I'm in love with your TV...their so in love with you & me.......we love you"

    You're daddy's Duncan? I'm a big fan. Tell him that David Harris in Tucson, Arizona says hi. Is he still playing music?

  • @MartyHawkFan
    @MartyHawkFan 12 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Furs' first two albums were classics, third was solid, and then Richard started singing that Heartbreak Beat pablum and it was all downhill. Duncan made the band - that saxaphone sound drove the sound on the first two albums. Richard, scrap the pop stuff, and do one more tour like Echo and just play the first two albums.

    • @japan906
      @japan906 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Duncan WAS and still IS the man of the FURS. Look at his command and respect from the Butler brothers, Richard, Ashton and Vince. This was their best cast.

    @paintedlier uh no... I see no reason why that would make 'factory records' a reference to warhol's 'factory'. The building they converted for use AS factory records was a disaffected (abandoned) factory. So it was a simple, humble name they used to name the 'company'. They would have no interest afaik in using a reference to warhol since it would be boring and irrelevant.
