      We have booked a forward facing Spa Balcony on Deck 17(right above the bridge). We are super excited. We originally had the Havana Cabana booked, which we love on the Vista class, but after looking at the Deck Plans and speaking with John Heald I we decided to change. There are no hot tubs on the Havana Decks on the XL class and the pool is tiny compared to the Vista class. Very disappointed by that change, but really looking forward to trying the new class. 😊😊

      spa Interior. I was disppointed that I couldn't find a Premium Spa Interior with the couch and more sq ft. Maybe those are on Deck 5 (which wasn't available) ?

    A family or group of friends can always find some adjoining IS cabins for their group of 4+(actually 4 in each cabin), getting a 2nd full bathroom. It is less than paying suite pricing if that is a cruise or not cruise factor.

    I liked your video a lot. It was very thorough. If I may offer just one observation. The lifeboats in no way obstruct your view in the Cove Balcony. The lifeboats are suspended up and out of the way. These are also the most private balcony on the Vista and XL class. All other balcony cabins can be seen by anyone on the Lanai deck as it extends out so far from the side of the ship. The cove balconies are below the lanai and cannot be seen from any other cabin. It’s one of our favorite cabins and just didn’t want people to think they were somehow “less than” standard. 😊

    • @TheTravelScouts
      @TheTravelScouts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for offering your insights! I thought some may be obstructed based on the image/floorplan of the staterooms but your info is very good to know! I will probably do another one of these videos once we actually get on the ship and get to have our eyes on everything.

    I enjoyed your presentation. Its time to cruise again, almost two years and my wife and I are ready for another Carnival sailing. We would like a suite again but after seeing your presentation on the suite selection I started feeling off standish over getting another suite now. A long and narrow cabin to me is not my idea of a suite situation. Our grand suite in sailings past were quite spacious but the suites,other than the Presedential, seemed a bit cramped in style. Long and narrow....not the normal Carnival suite style. Correct me if I'm not clearly understanding but it seems maybe its not worth getting a suite for what I might end up with being nothing more than an extended inside cabin with a balcony. I am going to replay your presentation again, maybe I missed something. We usually cruise October or November because of lower prices and people are usually getting ready for the Holidays, a somewhat quiter time to be on a ship. Thanks for the well put together presentation, I enjoyed it

    • @TheTravelScouts
      @TheTravelScouts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on the suite location and type. The corner suites/excel suites will be more "square" than long. And they all suites (regardless of location) will have more square footage than an interior. But, most will still have the rectangle (long and narrow) layout. If you want to look at all the cabin layouts at one time, check out this link. It's very helpful :) www.cruisemapper.com/cabins/Carnival-Mardi-Gras-2105

    Thinking about booking an aft extended on the 12th floor, do you think it’s better to have a lower deck for afts?

    • @TheTravelScouts
      @TheTravelScouts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, you will be closer to all the action (aft pool) if you like to people watch from your balcony. It's hard to tell if the people booked in aft cabins several decks above you will be able to see you or not (while on your balcony). Also, lower cabins will feel less "rocky" that those higher cabins.

    At 11:27ish in the video you mentioned that the only ones who get access to Loft 19 are those booked in Excel Suites or a Cabana. Ummm I posted a link to your video on Cruise Critic and people are stating this is simply not true. Can you please provide some clarification. I think your video is very misleading.

      @TheTravelScouts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bethany. I stand by what I said- The only ones that get access to LOFT 19 are those that book a suite OR rent a cabana for the day. Here is the Carnival link: www.carnival.com/domain/explore/onboard/outdoor/loft-19
      Also, here is a Carnival link to the PDF that you can download that shows amenities for each cabin type: file:///C:/Users/kelli/Downloads/mardi-gras-excel-presidential-suite-amenities.pdf.
      If you choose to rent a cabana for the day/week, you will also get access to Loft 19. (However, note that guests who book a Carnival suite will have priority booking of the cabanas and they are very limited)

    • @TheTravelScouts
      @TheTravelScouts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With 5 people total (including the 18 month old) you should have been able to reserve a suite. Maybe there were no suites available that accommodate 5 at the time of booking. There are limited suites that hold 5. One example of excel suite that sleeps 5 is room #11359 (Just one example)

    The comparison of the Reg balcony and the extended balcony is incorrect .... I have an extended balcony on the middle section hump and interior room size is the same size as the reg balcony room you do not loose any interior space but since the middle of the ship hump is extended further out that is how and why my balcony it extended out.

      @@TheTravelScouts there was a time in travel past where Royal Caribbean attempted to do the same thing that Carnival is doing right now by shrinking the cabin size down they introduced brand new ship called The Sovereign of the Seas the ship was beautiful design even ahead of its time But the rooms were very unpopular almost everyone that cruise on the ship was their number one complaint the size of the room it got so bad that I was leaving a bad taste in Royal Caribbean's clientele Unfortunately they built the sister ship to this ship called the monarch. Both ships never did very well in their career and we're scheduled for three day cruises because spending a week in the cabin was just torture they tried to sell the ships off to Palomar cruises they to work we're not successful with them either both of the ships have been totally scrapped. After the monarch of the Seas Royal Caribbean went back to making normal sized cabins. I guess it's time for Carnival to learn their lesson.

Employees were literally told to say nothing or be fired they were actually instructed to throw the trash overboard so it cannot even be considered an accident even after the company was fined millions of dollars they were caught doing it again in Alaska with oil therefore they have lost all privileges to cruise in or out of USA Waters until their ships are thoroughly inspected one by one in order for this to happen they must put a request into the United States Coast Guard requesting compliance completion which means a federal United States Coast Guard officer will board The Vessel and spend 30 days on the ship in that 30-day period of time the Coast Guard is aware of any violations concerning the Coast Guard such as environmental practices or equipment or safety equipment or any violations found from the CDC for that matter as well or any federal agencies laws rules or regulations that are not being followed on the vessel can then determine that vessel not to be in compliance and can have that ship seized and or band completely from us Waters until it is re-inspected and passes inspection to this day it's been over a year since the order not one solitary Carnival Cruise ship has submitted a compliance order to the Coast Guard nor has one solitary Carnival ship been approved. The Florida federal judge has already advised Carnival Corporation at each ship will take 30 days minimum. The coast guard and the CDC will not work on the cruise lines schedule they are not there for their convenience. That and the fact that the judge is very upset that it's been over a year and they haven't even bothered to request a compliance inspection. not even one of their vessels. So they still have to have all their ships inspected that they want to cruise out of the USA and then they still have to go through the inspections of the CDC so they are way behind with their competitors that is why Carnival Corporation will not be cruising anytime soon in or out of the USA and even if they choose to cruise their ships out of the USA and bypass the CDC and the United States Coast Guard. US citizens can still be detained from traveling on board their ships especially if they find their cruise ships not to be in compliance and a code 4 or Code Red which means they've had infection on board and even death. Then the CDC can ban all flights going to that Port of Call from the USA it can also detain or stop any US citizen from actually boarding the ship and the cruise line itself would have to cooperate with this meaning that they cannot even sell the Cruise fare ticket in the first place if the ship is not in compliance at least not to a US citizen Carnival can find themselves still cruising they just won't have any US citizens on board.

    Does the ship let you book adjoining rooms? I have a family of 8. What age are kids considered adults on cruises? I have kids from 6 to 16

      Hi Katie. Yes, they do have ajoining rooms. Look for a little triangle symbol between 2 rooms and that means they are ajoining. Also, this link might be helpful for you as well :)

    It's disappointing that there is no mention of accesible cabins on this new ship.

      Hello. I apologize that I didn't cover those cabins. Honestly, when I was preparing for this video, I could not find a whole lot of information (size/layout) for those cabins. Here is the accessible Mardi Gras deck plan- www.carnival.com/about-carnival/~/media/Images/Ships/MD/DeckPlans/mardi-gras-accessible-cruising-deck-plan-pdf.pdf

    Thank you for the information! So helpful! I’m looking to book on the Marci Gras for my next cruise so this is helpful.
    Just one suggestion. I really enjoy your videos but grammatical errors kill the vibe when watching. The information is great but the use of “foot” instead of “feet” had me wincing every time. When you’re saying a room is a certain square footage it’s (for example) 200 square FEET. Not “the balcony is 45 square foot”. The correct way to say it using “foot” is to say “there is a 45 square foot balcony” OR “this room is 200 square feet”.
    Keep up they awesome videos! I’m working through your Mardi Gras series and love the content 😊

    I was going to book a cruise. But there’s no way I would go on a cruise now, especially now after all of the people getting Covid on Carnival cruises
