ANA was my first business flight I ever took from ORD to NRT. I had such a good flight and everything was so perfect!
Living in Japan, working for an American company I have flown from Tokyo to somewhere in the US so many times that I really don't remember the exact number. All I can say is, Dan is right. ANA business class is the best experience. Last time I flew though was at the end of 2019, it's 2021 now!!!! I miss flying!!!!!!!!! for the time being, I'll be watching these videos........
Matsubara is a family name. In either case ie: using personal or family it is always polite to add -SAN to the name. Just to use the name alone means you are really talking down to the person!

I flew ANA round trip between Seattle and Narita just last month. I've flown between the west coast of the US and Japan probably close to 30 times. In my opinion, ANA and SIA are probably the best airlines. JAL is right behind them, though. Right before boarding starts, ANA's ground staff all bow... I love that. :-)

Many years ago, there used to be an Australian airline called ANA, but they were taken over by another airline called Ansett, which became Ansett ANA until they too collapsed eventually. I am neither a vegan or a vegetarian, but I always say that you can judge an airline, to a great extent, by the trouble they take with their minority passengers. It is an indicator of their willingness to make minor profit sacrifices to improve the product they are offering to the public. Thank you for the video.

I've managed to book an award business class ticket with ANA! I was watching your video to observe the best seat with good window view and privacy. I chose seat 8A (787-9 with 215 seat) which is the far left with the pod storage area haha. I can't wait to experience this on a 14 hour flight from IAD - HND! Japan 2023!
I love ANA as well - a tip for UK travellers is that the 777 they use to LHR (or did a couple of years ago), has a 3-4-2 in economy. Great for a solo or couple travelling on a budget if you pick the right seats.
My only criticism (they do all the basics so well) is that the hard product just feels a bit too clinical. I still prefer it over the gold trim everywhere on some of the middle east carriers though...
I am so happy you finally flew via Vancouver. Having been my hometown airport I am overjoyed to see you there. I know you don’t review airports, however I am curious of your impression of Vancouver’s airport. I hope you get to fly to YVR when the weather is better and enjoy the city and mountains.

I fly YUL-YVR often and i always get a right-hand side window seat. The night view of the Fraser River over New West is always so nice just before landing. Also, love the carved owl when exiting the terminal!! I'll be flying there on July 1st with my cat!

My Wife and I flew ANA from Houston to Narita back in 2016. We were on their B777 and were in the last two seats on the plane in economy. Even those seats had foot rests. The service was impeccable and although were were in economy, we were treated so very well by the flight attendants and the food there was excellent. Flying back we were on a United Airlines 777 in economy. No foot rests. The IFE screen didn't work. The flight crew were anxious to feed everyone as fast as possible and the food was awful. The contrast between a U.S. based airline over ANA was night and day. It appears not much has changed.

Thanks for the review, it's very helpful. If there's anything I would suggest, it would be to consider doing a voiceover after you get home rather than using the audio from inside the plane -- it's very difficult to hear

I flew that same route like 3 years ago (to and from) and loved it! I vlogged one leg of it on TH-cam.
Qatar may be the best airline of 2021, but all Nippon is the cleanest of 2021 and cleanest is very important and more in the circumstances we are living. ANA for me all the time, little more chep and is the biggest operator of one of my favorite aircraft, the 787 Dreamliner.
I flew(business)on both...love the experience on both. And when a plane leaves japan....After the plane doors are closed) the ground staff disconnect the gang way and waited(gangway doors remained openned) ...i thought why ....they were waiting for the plane to pull back.....and waived u farewell.

I’ve flown ANA at least 6 times on business class and have been impressed every time. The service is Impeccable as you would expect from any Japanese person and the dining is very good. My only complaint is last time I flew them from San Francisco the bedding was not good. However I do like the mattress they provide

That’s because Asians do not consider being of service to someone else is demeaning ... a lesson we could all learn from ... especially Americans. 🧐
@@robyoungquist5803 There's a huge difference between Asians and their service standards, though. Try some of the Chinese airlines, you'll be shocked at how bad the service is. Then try some of the Japanese airlines, or Singapore Airlines. It's literally like another planet.
In Japan it's compulsory to have the best possible service and this applies to everything such as stores and taxi drivers and in this case, cabin crew.
Hi Dan! Is booking seat 9A (the one you mentioned has great privacy) better than booking a seat like 3A? Asking because I know 9A is by the bathrooms so not sure whether it's brighter/louder there. Thanks!

My father flew ANA on a 77W from HND to ORD in economy. Said he wasn't impresses. Probably would've said something different if he was in Business though.

I have an astrophysicist friend who is a vegetarian, and he goes to Japan quite often. He has remarked how difficult it is to get genuinely vegetarian food in Japan - almost everything is prepared with *dashi* broth (made from fish). If you order a tofu dish, the gravy on the tofu will be based on *dashi* broth (I"m allergic to fish).
ANA is awesome, I flewed economy few times and they haves have snacks available in the midplane section lol

Dan. I am oddly happy to hear you were expecting the cabin to be hot. I just flew Condor Business Class to Frankfurt and the cabin was so hot. I sat on the floor a lot just to stay cool.
