Gulf air will be launching flights to New York this summer and expand more in the United States. Gulf Air's history is very rich. It's soaring back gradually to its Glory days! Singapore has opened! More long haul routes will be added as the fleet increase.
Not only New York the chairman of gulf air also mentioned that flights to Australia will be opened at the end of this year given that their plans to launch Sydney were deterred in 2020 due to covid. With Milan and Manchester opening on June 1st and 2nd respectively I think they are on the right path. Always wish them the best for the future.
Hey man, I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. My wife and I are going to be taking a flight to the US for the first time in three years. It’s a special occasion, because we’re finally taking our baby boy to meet his grandparents. I saved up my miles and was able to get us business class seats on ANA for practically nothing. It’ll be our first experience flying anything other than coach. I showed her your ANA Business class videos and she’s super excited. It’s because of TH-camrs like you that I became aware of award flights and how to use miles. So you’re partly the reason why we’re going to be able to have this special experience. Keep doing what you do. And thank you so much.
Gulf Air was the first airplane / international airplane I ever flew and was going from Mumbai to London in 2001. I was only 10 years old at that time so all I cared about was food and kids goodie bag. And both were great! The cabin crew was also very nice. I had severe ear pain during take-off and landing. The crew did their best to help my mum and myself
I’m pretty much exactly the same. Flew from London to Melbourne for my aunts wedding with gulf air in 2001 when I was 5 (at least Abu dabhi to Singapore/Melbourne) on my first ever flight. It was pre-9/11 so was even allowed in the cockpit and my mum still has the metal cutlery we got for food in economy at home even over 20 yrs later!
This is an unbelievably positive review with extremely minimal negatives. For your honest standard, this seems like a really good airline. Thank you Dan!
I had the honour of designing and printing the menu cards for the first L1011 Golden Falcon Service from LHR to BAH in 1974 , or was it 1973? I still have one of them at home after all those years. Gulf Air are one of those under-rated airlines that should be given more attention. Well done Dan for doing that!
They should be arranged like that anyways, business class seats cost a lot of money so everything should be designed to be as convient and comfortable for the passenger as possible or else it isn’t worth it. For example, I have travelled on British Airways Club world (the old one not the new club world suite) and it is dreadful for a business class seat. The layout is horrible it is a 2-4-2 layout on most of your flights and to get out of your seat you have to step over someone unless your in an aisle seat and as a trade you get stepped over a lot in an aisle seat. It is essentially a business class seat but the rest of it is economy grade. The new club world suite is amazing and I would definitely record but avoid the old club world.
Lovely to see you review the original Gulf airline. My dad worked for them for 25 years from the 70's. Fond memories and they had awesome service then.
I flew both Economy and Business from LHR to BAH and back earlier this year for the GP. I have to say, both classes were a really enjoyable experience! Plus, Gulf let you bid on their leftover business class seats - meaning my upgrade from economy to business only cost me something like £400!
I had heard about gulf air...20 years ago...my Brother was flying from Bombay to Nairobi... It was one of the best Airline...on that routes at that time...Happy to know...they are still one of the best...👌
Great review. One of the reasons the airline provides this type of service regardless of flight length is because of its rich history. They have been around since the 1950's, flying back then was a complete luxurious and grand event. This airline reminds me of Pam Am. I am glad they have been able to sustain themselves for so long and didn't become bankrupt.
I've travelled once in Gulf Air when i went to meet my dad, from Dubai to Bahrain (I'm From India). I got an upgrade for free from economy to falcon gold as i was flying unaccompanied.(I was 11). it was a very nice experience
I used to fly Gulf Air between LHR/BKK about 15 years ago. After your film, they are definitely a renewed choice for a trip later this year. Thanks Dan.
I live in the Middle East and travel extensively - Gulf Air business verges on first class standard and is unmatched by other local carriers - so good. The food, drink selection and staff are fantastic
Gulf Air is mother of Gulf airliners i.e. Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airlines & Oman Air. All four later airliners rooted from Gulf Air, once all five altogether united to create a unified airliner in 1970s. Then in 1990s, all rulers ruled (but Bahrain) withdrew from Gulf Air to create their own flag carriers.
I flew Gulf Air several times in the past few months - all in Business Class. TLV-BAH-DXB-BAH-TLV, DXB-BAH-TLV, DWC-BAH-RUH, RUH-BAH-DXB. I second every single word. Even in the short-hauls between Tel Aviv, Dubai and Riyadh, everything is just (almost) perfect with Gulf Air.
My company once switched me from BA to Gulf Air. When I heard I was making every excuse under the sun why I should remain with BA. However they were adamant and I took my first Gulf Air flight from Heathrow to Bahrain. I flew economy but found that the seats and service were comparable to Premium Economy in BA. I flew 10 times with Gulf Air and was upgraded to business class on 5 occasions. I would happily recommend Gulf Air.
@Nonstop Dan I prebooked some food when I flew gulf air. However I was in economy and using a third party ticket agent. They said the order hadn't been successful.... But on the flights I got everything I had asked for so they are an extremely good airline when it comes to rectifying a mistake or small issue
Omg I'm from Bahrain (It's our national carrier) and I flew gulf air pre-pandemic, everyone warned me about gulf air but I loved it - I think It's underrated and glad you gave it a nod.
What a great video! I always liked Gulf Air, they are actually a top airline that got shadowed by younger, cocky ones in the region, but older souls like me haven't forgotten their long history of excellence. The good taste of their cabin interior as well as uniforms has always been the best in the region, too.
I cant believe it took me all of these months to come to this video. As a baby to child from 80s to 90s every two years we flew abroad Gulf Air to go from Qatar to India. I believe in 1998, we flew Qatar Airways for the very first time and it was such a big change for us. Ahhhh Gulf Air. Sweet memories. Also, bidets have been standard in Doha since late 80s, early 90s. The Japanese style bidets have been around since 2010s
I lived in the Middle East for 13 years (mostly the nineties), during which Gulf Air was considered a sub-bar choice and one to avoid if possible. It was an older, more-established carrier like EgyptAir and MEA. I remember thinking at the time (Emirates and Qatar were beginning to surge) that Gulf Air would need to raise their game considerably if they were going to compete in the emerging Middle Eastern market. Watching your video, it appears that the airline has indeed raised their game. It's good to know that this is possible, and that there is hope for other mediocre airlines to move into the upper levels of customer service.
Back in the day GA was THE biggest Emirates/Gulf carrier. My parents lived in Bahrain so it was the only direct route (BA was via Amsterdam and picking up Singapore A). I remember having a great experience. Glad to see things are still going great….
A mate of mine was a captain on L1011's in the 80's/early 90's and loved working with Gulf Air. It was at the time of the Australian pilots strike, and he applied for a role and was there within a week! Brilliant airline back then now overshadowed by the 600lb gorillas of Emirates/Etihad and to a lesser extent, Qatar. Agree about the livery as well, the falcon imagery in gold always looks good.
I used Gulf Air 3 years ago to fly from London to Bangkok (and the subsequent return journey) and thought they were very good. I would definitely use them again. One of the cabin crew was a Scottish lady living in Dubai, I had a long chat with her.
I really enjoyed this review thanks. Will certainly keep Gulf Air in mind for the future. Pity about them falling down on you meal request and I hope they get back to you soon.
We have a new barber in town, all Turkish dudes, who let you have a Turkish coffee while you sit by. It's good to see Oscar coming out of his shell! I've been puzzled by this need for storage in business/ First Class. I get that people will possibly have work to do, but most of the planes ( even the Apex Suites) have places for laptops during meal service. I know, I am from a by-gone era, and have always packed light. Still, if I end up sitting near you, I'll let you use some of my cubbies.
Back in the day we used to travel Gulf Air as kids, they were awesome for families, so many gifts on board for gifts, food was great as well, i do want to travel it again once it expands its routes
Whoa Dan, what an unexpected surprise. I have an upcoming SIN to BKK flight coming up, and now I am actually excited to experience what that's like. Even though I wasn't around for the Golden Age of Aviation and Air Travel, this really evokes that. The leather touches and the gold is just too good.
I used to live in Qatar from 1976 to 1979 and we flew Gulf Air regularly from Doha to London. Not sure everyone realizes that Gulf has been around since the 50's, so a lot older than the other major airlines in the area.
Absolutely correct. I grew up in the region when the old Gulf Air was the combined airlines of the GCC states. Before there was emirates and Qatar there was gulf air! Have always had pleasant experiences and it is a lovely country, too.
That explains the hospitality. Flying back then was a very luxurious and grand experience, people wore tuxedos and evening gowns. Gulf Air is giving me Pan Am vibes. I am glad they have been able to sustain themselves for so long.
Omg I noticed that big ass bottle of olive oil on the thumbnail and was so curious if you’d talk about it. Of course you didn’t disappoint! Great review and wow this airline looks fantastic. The cabin is so elegant!
As mnetioned before a great review! I just arrived from FRA via BAH to BKK in Falcon Gold. Had a great experience although BAH-BKK was delayed by 11 hours. Still I was provided with a hotel room in BAH. Overall 4 flights in 2 weeks - all very ok! Greetings Frank
How many remember the Gulf Air/TWA shared BAH-LHR-JFK service with an L-1011. It was always lauded for being incredible in First Class. I'm glad to see GF is continuing that legacy of fine up front service. I look forward to their return to serving the USA. American, and European carriers, can learn a whole lot from them.
Gulf Air is really an underrated airline. In terms of service they are on the top. I have tried the falcon gold class on the same plane last September 2020 and even some parts of the service are not available during the pandemic I still feel that I am in a business class setting. 🤩
Simply watching this video, Gulf Air is a surprise! Never expect to be that good! Sure Dan's best experience is having the entire bottle of olive oil, other airlines can't offer him that!
Your so lucky to have your luggages safe after you have a connecting flight with them.. for my experience of my loss luggages this airline is such a disappointment.. it’s worst..
After one has applied for a substantial amount of credit cards (i have about 12 including a few black or 'Infinite' ones, thanks to me for having great credit), the options get scarcer and scarcer. How do you keep raking up enough miles to get flights once you've already got the credit cards and can no longer get the huge welcome point bonuses?
You can’t go wrong with apex suites. Straight forward sleeping and direct isle access. This one even has a foot rest that goes up to create more space although that limits storage space
GULF and KUWAIT were proper airlines way before the birth of EMIRATES, QATAR & ETIHAD. The money from the latter 3 changed the entire MID EAST airline industry.

@@Zeus_9137 that would be great! Gulf air used to have services to Sydney long back.

Indeed, an airline without a complaint from Dan does not exist.
When it is paid for everything becomes crazy positive. Isn’t it obvious

Nice video. I really like how you give honest reviews instead of lies to get benefits
great review for gulf air, indeed a business traveler around the world.

I suggest you to put the title of the airline and the class along with the Plane model ie 787 so that we know what video we are watching
But then you wouldn’t have to watch the video all the way through to gather such info… thereby feeding the algorithm
