    About Gulf Air (from Wikipedia):
Gulf Air (Arabic: طيران الخليج Ṭayarān al-Khalīj) is the state-owned airline and the flag carrier of Bahrain was made in 1950 by British Pilot Freddie Bosworth as Gulf Aviation. Headquartered in Muharraq, the airline operates scheduled flights to 52 destinations in 28 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, Indian sub-continent and the Far East. Its main hub is Bahrain International Airport. In which London Heathrow is the most traveled place for Gulf Air. Gulf Air currently serves all its destinations with a combination of wide and narrow body jets of Airbus A320, Airbus A321, Airbus A320neo, Airbus A321neo and the Boeing 787-9 also known as the "dreamliner". Gulf Air is the sponsor of the Bahrain Grand Prix and Bahrain International Airshow, where some of its fleet of aircraft sport liveries of the event. Gulf Air has been certified with the highest 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating, becoming one of just sixteen airlines in the world to currently achieve this top recognition and the third airline in the Middle East to gain the 5-Star COVID-19 Safety Rating. It was formerly a multinational airline owned by Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Oman, and Qatar. In 2002, Qatar became the first nation to leave the Gulf Air consortium, followed by Abu Dhabi in 2006 and finally Oman in 2007, leaving the airline completely Bahrain-based, so they can make their own airlines: Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways and Oman Air respectively.
    About the 787 (from Wikipedia):
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is an American wide-body jet airliner developed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. After dropping its Sonic Cruiser project, Boeing announced the conventional 7E7 on January 29, 2003, focused on efficiency. The program was launched on April 26, 2004, with an order for 50 from All Nippon Airways (ANA), targeting a 2008 introduction. On July 8, 2007, the prototype was rolled out without major systems and experienced multiple delays until its maiden flight on December 15, 2009. Type certification was received in August 2011 and the first 787-8 was delivered in September 2011 before entering commercial service on October 26, 2011, with ANA.

Gulf air will be launching flights to New York this summer and expand more in the United States. Gulf Air's history is very rich. It's soaring back gradually to its Glory days! Singapore has opened! More long haul routes will be added as the fleet increase.

Not only New York the chairman of gulf air also mentioned that flights to Australia will be opened at the end of this year given that their plans to launch Sydney were deterred in 2020 due to covid. With Milan and Manchester opening on June 1st and 2nd respectively I think they are on the right path. Always wish them the best for the future.

    Hey man,
I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. My wife and I are going to be taking a flight to the US for the first time in three years. It’s a special occasion, because we’re finally taking our baby boy to meet his grandparents. I saved up my miles and was able to get us business class seats on ANA for practically nothing. It’ll be our first experience flying anything other than coach. I showed her your ANA Business class videos and she’s super excited. It’s because of TH-camrs like you that I became aware of award flights and how to use miles. So you’re partly the reason why we’re going to be able to have this special experience. Keep doing what you do. And thank you so much.

I had the honour of designing and printing the menu cards for the first L1011 Golden Falcon Service from LHR to BAH in 1974 , or was it 1973? I still have one of them at home after all those years. Gulf Air are one of those under-rated airlines that should be given more attention. Well done Dan for doing that!

Gulf Air was the first airplane / international airplane I ever flew and was going from Mumbai to London in 2001. I was only 10 years old at that time so all I cared about was food and kids goodie bag. And both were great! The cabin crew was also very nice. I had severe ear pain during take-off and landing. The crew did their best to help my mum and myself

I’m pretty much exactly the same. Flew from London to Melbourne for my aunts wedding with gulf air in 2001 when I was 5 (at least Abu dabhi to Singapore/Melbourne) on my first ever flight. It was pre-9/11 so was even allowed in the cockpit and my mum still has the metal cutlery we got for food in economy at home even over 20 yrs later!

    • @tjfennell7891
      @tjfennell7891 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

They should be arranged like that anyways, business class seats cost a lot of money so everything should be designed to be as convient and comfortable for the passenger as possible or else it isn’t worth it. For example, I have travelled on British Airways Club world (the old one not the new club world suite) and it is dreadful for a business class seat. The layout is horrible it is a 2-4-2 layout on most of your flights and to get out of your seat you have to step over someone unless your in an aisle seat and as a trade you get stepped over a lot in an aisle seat. It is essentially a business class seat but the rest of it is economy grade. The new club world suite is amazing and I would definitely record but avoid the old club world.

I flew both Economy and Business from LHR to BAH and back earlier this year for the GP. I have to say, both classes were a really enjoyable experience! Plus, Gulf let you bid on their leftover business class seats - meaning my upgrade from economy to business only cost me something like £400!

Gulf Air is mother of Gulf airliners i.e. Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airlines & Oman Air.
All four later airliners rooted from Gulf Air, once all five altogether united to create a unified airliner in 1970s.
Then in 1990s, all rulers ruled (but Bahrain) withdrew from Gulf Air to create their own flag carriers.

Great review. One of the reasons the airline provides this type of service regardless of flight length is because of its rich history. They have been around since the 1950's, flying back then was a complete luxurious and grand event. This airline reminds me of Pam Am. I am glad they have been able to sustain themselves for so long and didn't become bankrupt.

I cant believe it took me all of these months to come to this video. As a baby to child from 80s to 90s every two years we flew abroad Gulf Air to go from Qatar to India. I believe in 1998, we flew Qatar Airways for the very first time and it was such a big change for us. Ahhhh Gulf Air. Sweet memories.
Also, bidets have been standard in Doha since late 80s, early 90s. The Japanese style bidets have been around since 2010s

I flew Gulf Air several times in the past few months - all in Business Class. TLV-BAH-DXB-BAH-TLV, DXB-BAH-TLV, DWC-BAH-RUH, RUH-BAH-DXB. I second every single word. Even in the short-hauls between Tel Aviv, Dubai and Riyadh, everything is just (almost) perfect with Gulf Air.

I lived in the Middle East for 13 years (mostly the nineties), during which Gulf Air was considered a sub-bar choice and one to avoid if possible. It was an older, more-established carrier like EgyptAir and MEA. I remember thinking at the time (Emirates and Qatar were beginning to surge) that Gulf Air would need to raise their game considerably if they were going to compete in the emerging Middle Eastern market. Watching your video, it appears that the airline has indeed raised their game. It's good to know that this is possible, and that there is hope for other mediocre airlines to move into the upper levels of customer service.

How many remember the Gulf Air/TWA shared BAH-LHR-JFK service with an L-1011. It was always lauded for being incredible in First Class. I'm glad to see GF is continuing that legacy of fine up front service. I look forward to their return to serving the USA. American, and European carriers, can learn a whole lot from them.

We have a new barber in town, all Turkish dudes, who let you have a Turkish coffee while you sit by.
It's good to see Oscar coming out of his shell!
I've been puzzled by this need for storage in business/ First Class. I get that people will possibly have work to do, but most of the planes ( even the Apex Suites) have places for laptops during meal service. I know, I am from a by-gone era, and have always packed light. Still, if I end up sitting near you, I'll let you use some of my cubbies.

A mate of mine was a captain on L1011's in the 80's/early 90's and loved working with Gulf Air. It was at the time of the Australian pilots strike, and he applied for a role and was there within a week! Brilliant airline back then now overshadowed by the 600lb gorillas of Emirates/Etihad and to a lesser extent, Qatar. Agree about the livery as well, the falcon imagery in gold always looks good.

My company once switched me from BA to Gulf Air. When I heard I was making every excuse under the sun why I should remain with BA. However they were adamant and I took my first Gulf Air flight from Heathrow to Bahrain. I flew economy but found that the seats and service were comparable to Premium Economy in BA. I flew 10 times with Gulf Air and was upgraded to business class on 5 occasions. I would happily recommend Gulf Air.

Gulf air is my secret - they’ve been around for a while but often miss the big reviews.

Your so lucky to have your luggages safe after you have a connecting flight with them.. for my experience of my loss luggages this airline is such a disappointment.. it’s worst..

What a great flight experience and review of the underrated airline Gulf Air.
You should fly Air New Zealand.
    Keep it up.

Thanks for this. But message to Gulf Air...please don't migrate to a dedicated flight attendant model. It is way too slow. Most of us are flying Business Class for business, and efficiency is key. Your current model is far more efficient than a dedicated model would be. Thanks.

I laughed at the college thesis comment. I’m graduating next semester with my Master’s degree and we don’t have to do a thesis anymore. I guess the classic thesis is becoming a thing of the past thank god
