They post the clips on Facebook, and you can comment there. I'm guessing 99% of people do know that, because there's not a ton of comments. But if you find the videos that do have comments turned on (it seems to be random, like a staffer forgot to turn comments off on rare occasions) it becomes really clear why they're off. A huge portion of them are just awful. I bet the reason they turn them off is in case the people on certain clips would come into the comment section. That could go bad in several ways. First, it would be pretty awful to see the nasty things total strangers are saying about you. They might then attempt to defend themselves, getting into arguments with commenters. Or they could come in and start bashing the other people on the show, feeling like the show was unfair to them. Or people from both sides might start a fight in the comment section. There are probably even more way it could go bad. I actually did find one open once, from like 10 years ago. The guy came in to defend himself a whole decade after the show aired. Things didn't go well for him on the show. He was an asshol, both on the show and in the comments. Condescending as fuck, too. I pointed out he may not be as over what happened on the show as he claimed and he absolutely went off on me. It got bad enough I had to report him for harassment. The things he said were just vile. That convinced me keeping comments closed was for the best.
Another one I can think of is the girl who went on social media and made several videos in which she claimed that if your boyfriend abused you, it meant he loves you. Even if she was just doing it for attention, the message she was putting out there and her lack of remorse or understanding was bothersome at best and chilling at worst.
I was a guest on Dr. Phil in January. He spends almost 2 hours taping. A lot is edited for time constraint, but guests are talking to him much longer than is shown. His staff are amazing and caring.

Odin AllCatFather I'm not defending this woman at all as I'm a two time survivor of cancer myself, but there could possibly be an explanation for her actions. (I've never seen this episode or any of Dr. Phil's shows so I might be missing important parts of her background story.) If she did it for attention she could possibly have a mental illness called Munchausen. It's literally where people will fake illnesses or otherwise lie to get attention they need. It's a possibility but not a probability. Edit: Most people think about parents making their child sick etc when they hear Munchausen but that's Munchausen by proxy. My dad has Munchausen and he's gone to *GREAT* lengths to get attention.

They post the clips on Facebook, and you can comment there. I'm guessing 99% of people do know that, because there's not a ton of comments. But if you find the videos that do have comments turned on (it seems to be random, like a staffer forgot to turn comments off on rare occasions) it becomes really clear why they're off. A huge portion of them are just awful. I bet the reason they turn them off is in case the people on certain clips would come into the comment section. That could go bad in several ways. First, it would be pretty awful to see the nasty things total strangers are saying about you. They might then attempt to defend themselves, getting into arguments with commenters. Or they could come in and start bashing the other people on the show, feeling like the show was unfair to them. Or people from both sides might start a fight in the comment section. There are probably even more way it could go bad. I actually did find one open once, from like 10 years ago. The guy came in to defend himself a whole decade after the show aired. Things didn't go well for him on the show. He was an asshol, both on the show and in the comments. Condescending as fuck, too. I pointed out he may not be as over what happened on the show as he claimed and he absolutely went off on me. It got bad enough I had to report him for harassment. The things he said were just vile. That convinced me keeping comments closed was for the best.
Another one I can think of is the girl who went on social media and made several videos in which she claimed that if your boyfriend abused you, it meant he loves you. Even if she was just doing it for attention, the message she was putting out there and her lack of remorse or understanding was bothersome at best and chilling at worst.
In General, I respect Dr Phil, however, due to commercial breaks the actual time spent viewing seems like 12 minutes contact.
I was a guest on Dr. Phil in January. He spends almost 2 hours taping. A lot is edited for time constraint, but guests are talking to him much longer than is shown. His staff are amazing and caring.
