I know this is an old video but you had a small line connected to your original filter you removed (pcv valve I believe). I never saw this reconnected. I'm having the same issue as my new filter doesn't have a connection.
Where did the pvc valve and filter reattach too? My stock filter has the same thing that goes into the engine. No space on my new air filter to connect.
You can technically vent pcv to atmosphere. Just plug the tube in to the factory port on the engine and leave it out of your air filter. Longer tube is better for keeping the oil that may want to work it's way up, inside. You can also put a fuel filter on the end of the line to keep mud dobbers and general filth out of your crankcase. Idk about tao tao but a lot of small engines have the pcv go right into the top of the valve cover.
hey man, my taotao suddenly shutdown, like in the middle of the ride and the sound of my motor is like choking. is it true that the air filter must have the appropriate size? says my mechanic
Great video.. any insight on a apollo commander 125cc carb with a left hand choke cable? It is a pz22, I cannot find that set up any where! The numbers on the carb says pz22wl-6. Would you have a replacement or upgraded version?
Hi Sour Complex, the hose at the bottom of the carb is a fuel drain line. The fuel bowl overflow runs out here, as does the fuel when the drain screw is open. When riding on rough or uneven surfaces you may notice some fuel spilling out of this line. The hose is simply to route the excess fuel away from the engine, starter, air filter. etc... Hope this helps, and let us know if you have more questions!
Hi Swisher Sweets! Any time you have fuel 'dumping' out of a carb, you should start by cleaning the carb's fuel bowl float needle assembly. Normally the fuel would drain out of the overflow, but it sounds like there may be a blockage in the overflow as well. I would recommend pulling and thoroughly cleaning the entire carb. If this doesn't fix your issue, you should check the intake boot (intake manifold) for damage, and make sure your carburetor is properly tuned, including proper jet sizes. Good luck!
Thank you very much! My new air filter does not come with an attachment for the PCV hose/valve - does that mean I got a wrong air filter?(wasn’t sure from the video if yours did and, if it didn’t, where to put the second end of the PCV hose after reattaching it to the engine).
@@mudifypowersports3318 Thanks for the response! I am still having trouble after the carburetor and air filter change - my atv turns on and then it's almost impossible to keep it that way. Sometimes I get it to first gear and running for 10/15 seconds or so (never full throttle), but I always end up having to carry it back by foot (in one of these attempts, it actually got stuck in 1st gear, and will not go back to neutral - no rocking or further turning on and running will send it back to neutral). Any suggestions (or suggested videos) for these two problems? Thanks so much!
Thank you for this video. I need some insight about the choke switch. It came loose and I lost the screw that holds it. How do I get it fixed. Please help
Do you mean the handlebar or the carb end? Either way, you can get metric screws at your local hardware store. I would take your piece to the hardware store to match threads. I bet you'll spend less than a dollar. Let us know how it works out, and good luck!
Thanks for watching! Sounds like the idle screw needs backed out a little, or the fuel/air mix screw (on the bottom of the carb) needs fine tuned. Back the idle screw out until it just barely lifts the throttle slide, and reset the mix screw to 2 turns out, and adjust from there. After a few minutes of adjusting, it should run better than ever. Enjoy!
@@mudifypowersports3318 I am dealing with this same problem, Tao 110cc, I start it and the thing hits wide open. I have backed the idle out all the way, and have tried adjusting the fuel air mix. I also checked the needle to make sure it is moving freely. Any thoughts?
I am guessing you mean the throttle won't open/close. If so, it sounds like there is an issue with your throttle linkage. Try removing the top of the carb and checking the cable linkage and spring. If you're dumping fuel, that sounds like a float problem. Let us know what you find, and good luck!
Thanks for watching! The carb you need is a PD26 w/electric choke. We do not currently stock these units. But we will in the near future. Looks like we need to do some videos on the Tao Tao Raptor!

Hi Cheryl, I would start by looking at the fuel filter. If it's partially filled with fuel, I would pull the fuel hose off the carburetor (have a container handy to catch spills), and rotate the fuel shutoff valve back and forth. If no fuel comes out of the hose, you may have a plugged filter. Those stock fuel filters are not high quality, so I would replace it with a Mudify filter (www.ebay.com/itm/273737477664). If, on the other hand, you have no fuel in the filter, you may need to pull the tank and look for blockages. Best of luck to you! -Mudify
Hi Dale Godfrey, the air filter element is about 3-1/8 inches long, and 2-7/8 inches around. Overall length is about 3-5/8 inches. The boot is a standard 39mm for the carb inlet. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the comment! The PCV valve does not attach to the air filter after this upgrade, since it has its own internal filter.
