    Great video Grant, going to try sticking solely with 15mm f1.7 for the whole of this year 👍🏼

    Nice work Grant.
    An idea of a video with some buying used gear tips? For me will be full of worth and i can be focused on Panasonic products 🙂
    Thank you for your time and effort on doing these helpful videos

    Good video. I agree with your thoughts. Couple of things to throw in ... I have the G9 and the G90. Whilst the G9 is definitely superior for video and for certain types of photography, for the type of street photography you like to do, the G90 is very similar in terms of results but has the benefit of being smaller and lighter whilst still having good ergonomics. Paired with the 15mm 1.7 it is a significantly lighter combo than the G9 plus 12mm 1.4. and it's what I use if I want to travel light. Like you most of my street shooting is outdoors in good light, so I often use the 14 -140mm (which allows me to zoom in a lot) and I carry one or more of 12mm, 15mm and 25mm primes, if I have a rucksack for when I need larger aperture.

      yes I have thought about the G90 for street :) good info

    Nice work, all good points.
    While I don’t own it (yet) the new PL ultra wide prime lens, a 9mm f1.7, is very appealing given it (1) is relatively small and weighs only about 130g, (2) has a faster aperture than most zoom options (the 10-25mm f1.7 being the exception), (3) at ~USD500 / AUD800 is less than half the price of the (much more robust) 12mm f1.4, (4) is weather resistant, (5) is acceptably wide for hand held vlogging at 18mm full frame equivalent and (6) while only a prime, with the Ex Tele Converter functionality gives a number of practical narrower FOV options for video and photo.

      I bought the Laowa 7.5mm just before the Leica 9mm came out. Though, I have no complaints with the Laowa, I surely would have selected the Leica if it were available at the time.

    Hi Grant. Nice video. Like you I don't do traditional street photography but prefer cityscapes I think the G9 & 12mm f1.4 is a stunning combo. I used to have the 12-60 f2.8-4 but once I started to buy other Pana Leica lenses it felt like there was too much of an optical compromise & I sold it. I would highly recommend the 15mm 1.7 & 25mm f1.4, and for those occasions when I don't wish to change lenses the 8-18 is a fabulous zoom. Not sure I can dedicate myself to just one focal length yet, perhaps in the future ill bear that in mind. As for manual mode, I am perhaps talking out of my own ignorance but I prefer to use AP plus the G9's ability to set a minimum shutter speed and use exp compensation. All the best, Rich

    I see you're using a filter on your lens, so if you accept a suggestion you could make a video on those too! :) I'd be curious to know what filters are you using. Thank you for your videos and effort! :)

    Great advise. I prefer primes myself as the details just seem sharper when comparing with zoom lenses.
    Question though...
    I currently have 25 mm 1.7 (nifty fifty) for street photography.
    I want a wider lens though and am seriously looking at the new PL 9mm 1.7.
    If you had your choice would you go 12mm or 9mm fro street photography?
    I am looking at using the lens for landscape and street use.
    Eventually I will also pickup the PL 35-100mm 2.8 for all around use, especially for landscapes or portraits as the compression would work great in that case.

    • @grantrobertdavies
      @grantrobertdavies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d still go the 12mm (myself) stick to that traditional 24mm view, 9mm might be a bit too wide (in my opinion) :)

    • @michaelliebergot1384
      @michaelliebergot1384 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@grantrobertdavies 12mm tempting. 9mm (18mm) is pretty wide, but 12mm comes with a hefty price tag.
