I am so glad you and your little bird popped up on my feed. I am going to give this a try. Will make them into friendship gifts. Thank you for sharing.
This was a GREAT tutorial as a full overview of watercolor! I’ve been going at it for a year but this is a simple, short video I would pass on to any of my friends interested in starting. Thank you!
How cute! Thank you for the time you take to show how to draw the bird-it looks so simple when you break it down to a few shapes and squiggles! You might make an artist out of me yet!
Wow this is wonderful and cheerful. Your paintings are educational in that I never even heard of cardinals, in the UK we just don't get them I wish I saw this earlier as I painted most of my christmas cards now. I have already made two and I hope to two more. These are very different Christmas cards and I expect people receiving them will google cardinals too. I painted mine with a mix of green holly leaves and yellow and green oak leaves. I was very impressed with learning the wet on wet technique for the eyes
Totally love this. I love birds. Just started painting and I lock your teaching style and there are a few challenging bits-mixing colours, the eye area. This is how I learn.
The red cardinals are male Ellen....good tutorial...I just did two of the angles that you did using negative space...I had fun. Cheers from Victoria, British Columbia.
I love in Raleigh. Did you say you’re doing a workshop in Charleston in 2023? I looked on your website but couldn’t find anything. I would walk blindfolded LOL to Charleston just to pay to attend one of your workshops! Would love it you could give more info on that! Thanks!
Thanks Ellen for showing us how to draw and paint this adorable cardinal. Love your tutorials

Gum based water media is the best because I can use cut up t shirt rags and wash them. No more constantly buying paper towels!

Do you ever have workshops in the Cincinnati area?
Is there a source for the palette you use in this video? It’s not the one linked in your description. Thanks.
DO YOU EVER COME TO THE WEST COAST for a work shop?
